  • Trainer button!!! Trainer button!!!

  • he didint crash he was making it do break dancing!!

  • Looks like a mechanical failure, not pilot error.

  • type in "ski crashes" in the youtube search and click the video with stars in the title to be shocked!

  • He still flying it after the crash lol

  • That will buff right out and be as good as new

  • I tell you.. electric is better.. HAHAH

  • Tough tail boom and skids.lol...

  • If a prototypical helicopter flew like that I'd shit my pants!

  • Sounded like something broke or quit working right just before hey lost control......

  • @sonnyroxx that's because the sound is not synced to the video

  • @sonnyroxx yeah sure, wait i know what stopped working it was the anit copper into the ground device broke. LOL dumbass!!!

  • seemed like the heli wasnt running good at all the whole flight, didnt sound good,

  • oh, its fine. u still have fuel in there. just start it up and it will be as good as new ;)

  • NICE FUNKY CHICKEN!

  • most amazing crash i ever watched

  • nobnody's perfect, but he is truly more perfectly in flying 3d rc helicopters than nearly everyone on earth!

  • Thanks for your sharing, world RC champion.

  • Hi does anyone know what the move at 1.53 until 2.0 is? its amazing, how does it keep in the air? i cant try it if i dont know how to do it?!

  • @matjefferson it a inverted funnel there fairly simple to do if you can fly inverted at all , practice practice,

  • The Trex 700 flies just as good if not better and is a heck of a lot cheaper to operate.

  • Terra level chaos !

someone shoot it .... it's the humane thing to do!

  • What radio was he using?

  • another dis advantage of the fly bar

  • @nguyentuan1990 another dis advantage of the flybar? U stupid flybarless nutswinger.

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup well i think flybarless is better. more responsive and stable

  • did a flybar paddle strike the canopy?

  • @FlyGuyRc no the sound was off in the video. when you heard the loud smack sound in the air, that was actually the helicopter hitting the ground. I was at IRCHA when szabo crashed it and I was about 5 ft from the flightline, so I remember it was definatley a lock out

  • It sounded like a mechanical failure brought it down, not a lock out.

  • that's why they call it the helicopter in breakdance

  • dam i felt for the heli! just watching it die a slow death on the floor.....

  • It's dead, Jim :D

  • wow...sustained chaos on the floor!

  • Crash happens at the 5:37 mark

  • Cooler Crash!! Aber schade für dieses schönen Heli!!!

  • do they have a shorter flybar? to prevent it ftom hitting the canopy?

  • Well to be the best you need to waste time and money in practicing countless hours, and not to mention even the pilot needed to have a potential. Alan sZabo I salute you wish I was good as you

  • Every single Nitro/ petrol heli crash I see, the engines keep on ogin even tho the rX dies, shame lol.

  • A low-tech method is to set up the throttle to be spring-loaded to close, and choose a servo that turns relatively freely when there is no power.

But the drawback is higher current draw from the servo to overcome the spring tension.

  • Cooler Crash!!

  • Flybar paddle strike on the canopy caused this crash!

  • i believe it was a boom strike that caused the crash.

  • Hes a pro, so im just going to assume his radio got shot upon impact. Throttlecut would have helped so tremendously on this poor thing.

  • i heard it to .

  • It´s dead, Jim

  • Cooler Crash!!! W have one 90er Nitro Helicoper. self-developed!! Full 3-D!!! Carbon, Alu!!!!

  • i think it might be broke he breakdance heli good.....

  • yeah it sounds like somthing snapped or broke

  • btw he didn't use a 2,4 ghz system so it could be a lock out (even theres a weird breaking sound right before the crash..)

  • it looks so fake on camera. but ive seen him fly in person and it looks the same in person. he is just amazing pilot.

  • actually watching in live performing is totally different than a video, it's 100 times better

  • Cooler heli crash!!

  • 5:39

  • mech failure...

  • 2.4 ghz do not lock out

  • it does

  • It does, and it takes a long time to re-connect. Something mechanical went wrong here though - you can hear it break. The audio looks to be in perfect sync for the rest of the flight - the blade farts are all at the right times. So I'm thinking that sound of something breaking in mid-air is a blade strike or a link broke or god knows what.

  • Cooler crash!!

  • i dont know if you guys heard that strang noise it just did not sound right to me from the start

  • His piro rolls are soo smooth!

He just phones up his sponsers and gets a new one.:P

  • something must have come loose. The heli wasn "near" the ground at the first hitting noise. I don't think it was a boom strike, it wasn't that much of a hard manouver.

  • I don't think the audio is synced correctly in this video so that sound may be misleading.

  • what does "lock out" mean

  • It means that someone cut the controller on the same channel and his conroller was "locked out". Basically someone cut on their controller without asking the channels that Alan was on.

  • It wasn't a lock out.

  • Cooler crash!!!

  • boom wasn't even bent

not sure what the cause was the description says lock out

  • Coller crash!!

  • woohoooooo what a crash !

  • Boom strike I guess? What do you think was the cause? It definitely didn't hit the ground.

  • that made me sad :(

  • The funky chicken dance!!

  • Cooler crash!!

  • definately a boom strike!!!

  • Cooler crash!!! Chicken dancing!!!!

  • All those kids that kept saying things like "That was definitely a chicken dance." (DUH!) and "Nice funky chicken!" need to be slapped bald headed and keep their mouths shut. Alan even knows how to crash one right!

  • yea thats all u herd from wen it chrashed to end, anoying. but gd flying

  • Reckon the blades would cut off your arm?

  • - @ smidge146 -

I'm not sure about the whole arm, but it would do significant damage. If it managed to take your arm off it wouldn't be a clean cut like a saw.

There is a tremendous amount of kinetic energy in the main rotor. Even impact from a slow rotor head causes severe pain and bruising.

  • If he never crashed I would be pissed.

  • More evidence that if I wanted to, I could fly better than Szabo... Still trying to get my simulator working and the training sticks off my Raptor, but after that happens, watch out Szabo.

  • Even his crashes are graceful. Can't believe there wasn't more damage. Great video!

  • Cooler crash!!

  • The heli looks to have held up well for chicken dancing. I am not sure that it was a boom strike as the boom does not have a dent in it or bent. I was thinking maybe a link popped off.

  • That heli held up really well. I guess it is wourth the high price.

  • Coller crash!!

  • wait i tink some one threw some thing on the blade it wont even that close to the ground?

  • Wasnt it dangerous to be so damn near when it was doing this amazing dance? ^^

  • Boom strike, IMO

  • Crash at 5:38

  • Are there others that can compete with him, or is he in a league of his own?

  • many people can compete with him

  • not many, but a few

  • this film reminds of Love Liza, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman because of his friend being obsessed with remote Helicopters...wait was it helicopters? (who the fug am i talkin' to) haha whateva cool vid though

  • Cooler crash!!!

  • sup ppl!

Lol @ all the comments on this page. eo

  • Cooler crash!!!!!

  • the sound off the came is ahead of the film, yes the pilot doesn't react quick enough before the Heli hit the ground otherwise it wouldn't be a crash without the ground contact. Lol daaaaaaaaaaa! this happens even to the best

  • people are blind who say this touched the ground...

  • the sound off the came is ahead of the film, yes the pilot doesn't react quick enough before the Heli hit the ground otherwise it wouldn't be a crash without the ground contact. Lol daaaaaaaaaaa! this happens even to the best

  • Cooler crash!! Chicken dancing!!!!!!

  • you people give him too much credit, it was a mistake. his blades scraped the ground, then the boom, and then... maybe cause he's doing the maneuvers with helis of all sizes, not just 90's, that he was too close to the ground, but it was just pilot error.

  • Wrong, the blades did not touch untill after the heli already made a bad sound... it was in the process of ascending from a traveling flip and boom, something gave out.

  • the sound off the came is ahead of the film, yes the pilot doesn't react quick enough before the Heli hit the ground otherwise it wouldn't be a crash without the ground contact. Lol daaaaaaaaaaa! this happens even to the best

  • Sound isn't out of sync. If you watch the video and listen to the heli or the talking it's clearly in sync.

  • Dude his blades weren't even close to the ground when it happened. It was clearly a boom strike.

  • Cooler crash!!! Aber schade für den teueren heli. Aber er wird warscheinlich Gesponsort!!!

  • pilot too good for equipment!!!!!!!!!

  • I really like the comment from someone at the camera when the heli stops moving:

    "It's dead Jim!"

    really cool :-)

  • Cooler crash!! Also eins muss man, lassen Tanzen konnte er!! Chicken dancing heli!

  • "its a rotor strike of tail boom" dont be stuped if the blades hit the boom why is it still intact how dumb can you be

  • that was deffinatly a boom strike. that particular heli uses an aluminum tail boom, which means if the carbon blades hit the boom, it will dent the boom and shatter the main blades.... how long have you been flying helis? or do you fly em? cause if you fly you know that a boomstrike doesnt always tear the boom up

  • good point well put there roughworm, if you watch....even the main shaft takes an almighty beating, but is still intact. These heli are built to take the shit these days.

  • i havent got into the big nitro's yet, but you can hear a boom strike from a mile away. and whats bad is all that crash cost was probably $150 to fix, and thats only because 720mm carbon blades ARENT CHEAP! probably had to replace the spinde and maybe a flybar and paddles. id say $250 tops to fix that crash, which isnt bad for a 90 size bird like the arorua.

  • battery disconnected when heli hit the ground i mean. Hitting the ground is caused by rotor hitting the tail boom. can hear it strike just before impact at 5:38. its not radio lockout.

  • Wow, you're right! Good ear :)

You can hear it strike. As one of my buddies says - the helicopter is the only kind of aircraft with the capability of crashing into *itself*.

  • its a rotor strike of tail boom, high negative collective with backwards cyclic caused blades to hit boom. battery for reciever sometimes gets disconnected and cant shut down engine which is in near full throttle for idle up flying,

  • That would set him back a few hundred. It most likely snapped the swash plate and head in half. For the Align pro carbon fiber blades..it will set him back another 60$. The canopy is another 100$. All in all this was a good 300$ crash. I dont know about any of the electronics or the engine....or even the fuel tank. It may even be a 400-500$ fix. You dont know until you get to actually see it up close.

  • Not Exactly Lock out..... Right before it hit something snapped, then when it hit the ground you have so much debris from the chopper eatin its self up it is actually really easy to bend your linkage in the "wide open" posistion

  • ever think the linkage might have just snapped off or something and stuck it wide open....might not have been a lockout jackass

  • can you explain what radio lock out is? I've never heard that term before.

  • I think it means when the radio becomes disconnected with the recievr on the heli.

  • That is amazing - hurts to watch. Doesn't look like it was too badly damaged though - a testament to the workmanship on it.

Definite radio lock-out - if not, he would have been able to kill it right away you would think. I've seen this once in real life, and the guy was able to kill the motor with the radio right away.

  • definitely not lockout. at 5:38 the rotor strikes tail boom. Heli hits ground. The impact disconnected the reciever battery. Engine left running at idle up speed with no control to shut down

  • How the heck do you know it was a lockout? it was too close to the ground to tell it was unresponsive, he probably doesn't crash much tho :) great flying :D

  • he might be a very good pilot but he couldnt of done anything if that was going towards somebody..why do they stand so close to a 4ft razor blade???

  • Even his crashes are graceful. Can't believe there wasn't more damage. Great video!

  • funky chicken :D

  • that heli seems to respond really slow... or szabo was taking it easy on it... im definately thinking alan out szabo'd the heli, it just couldnt take his madness anymore!

  • jes coller crash!!!

  • owned! lol

  • something defently broke! You can hear it in flight. Maybe that is why he is flying the align 700. The Avant is still a sweet heli though.

    Nice skilz by the master.:)

  • not evry hely can stand that kind of flight

I think this time alan kiks hely's ass

  • They must be crashing loads they can't make enough to release the fu***ng heli..

  • i love the avant

  • looks like a linkage popped off to me...

  • "It's dead, Jim." LOL!

  • to much skills for that heli :P!!!!!

  • It crashes in the air, before it hits the ground - that's for sure.

    Boom strike? Could be.

    Peter

  • lol ye thats what i thought because after the first crack sound the heli sinks like a bitch. not very assuring seeing the "BEST" heli having a boom strike

  • I might get shit for saying this, but it looked like a boom strike and then he freaked out. You can hear something hit, blades continue but he freaks out and loses concentration..

  • It's hard to believe that anybody can fly this good to begin with. Awesome awesome awesome flying skills! Unfortunate crash though.

  • Unfortunately, everybody crashes. It is part of the Helicopter Learning Curve.

  • hi nightflyer!

  • y didnt he just kill the throttle when it hit the ground.good flying though

  • It doesn't always work that way. a lot of the time when these things crash, the throttle gets stuck, which I'm more than sure is what happened here.

  • Yep, and lots of times a person forgets to shut off his throttle hold switch in the heat of moment. I know I have.

  • Aye its a boom strike, happend to me 1 time (raptor 50) that happens some times, and its not the pilots fault, it shouldnt happen on such expensive machines at all, Actually my opinion is that the warranty should cover the repairs.

  • The boom does look really good for a boom strike. I think they all agree it was a boom strike though. Did you see those tail blades? Go V-Blades!

  • That was the best chicken dance I ever saw. Nobody gets away without the occasional Crash, not even Alan !!!

  • really good flying.. boom strike ? i thought it was the head? but now when i look again.. yeah.. to much pressure on the machine :) that means a hell of a pilot ^^

  • Boom strike? And everyone bad-mouths Raptors for that? Awesome flying though. Second Avant crash vid I've seen. Testings a tough job.

  • Nice skills but I am always scared if this kind of low level 3D flying is performed on my flying field. Those RC-Helis are perfect killers if they hit somebody or if a part of the blades hits someone. I personally don't like RC-Heli's because they are just dangerous.

  • This was not pilot error, it was a mechanical-failure of some type, some part failed; you can hear something come loose during a backflip at 5:40, and the the loss of altitude, resulting in a crash. He pushed the machine too hard, something could'nt handle the loads. Not a lot of damage for crashing in idle-up, and a 'dying-chicken' subroutine.

  • Thats a boom strike all right. Shit happens.

  • From 5:38 to 6:10...I can do that all day.

He sure is one heck of a pilot... The guy who commented about the boom striking the ground...yeah, okay...but the boom was pointed straight up when the accident occurred. Not even the rotor blades made contact with the ground. Malfunctions happen -- it's happened to me plenty of times during my flights.

  • He means boom strike man (when the blades hit the boom, not the ground)). And yes there is a sound of a boom strike just before the accident.

  • It couldn't have been a boomstrike.. if you look at the end og the film, the boom isn't even damaged...

  • I love a good chicken dance.

  • that boom struck before it hit the ground not pilot error. hes too much of a pilot for that chopper

  • The chicken dance!

  • OUCH!!!! Alan YOU ARE THE BEST, Even with this big crash. YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!
