what Rita had was a softness and tenderness under the facade of sex goddess...she was not childlike and needing like Monroe...she was more of a woman who needed to be undrstood and loved and handled tenderly....at least that was her personna and I absolutely adore her ...
This is just sensational! I;ve been a fan of her since I read her biog when I was a teenager but all I've ever seen in books and on video is a small amount of her films pre Gilda 1946 - great dancing but kinda safe and classical, you know. But this is great: really elemental and rather modern. I wonder how much other terrific Hayworth stuff is out there for me to discover?
marco44 is right,he definit clear that she was.For me she was powerfull, but this power came with her from the begining, was inside of her thats why she was the queen, there was more perfects beauty like Ava,but none briht into a movie like her,and all of them knew it about, its not cassual that Life magazine call her "the love gooddes.Roman
THIS is the best scene in the film, and i LOVE this dance... starting with a polite social dance, rita then goes tropical, barefoot, wild, elemental, primal..and graceful throughout. what a powerful dancer she was... this dance, one of her last onscreen, is a fitting, final tribute to the LOVE GODDESS rita truly was. there will never be another one like her!!
this film should have been ritas second comeback in 1957 but it wasn´t : now there were monroe hepburn and bardot - rita was just not as young and fresh anymore, but still a unique beauty as one can see...
not much of a dance for rita who was a real dancer and so very graceful

What a doll she was! No woman in Hollywood has been able to match her before or since. Flawless!

Yeah, and the transition never lapses into funny or embarrassing despite its over the topness.

Alcuni anni dopo Gilda ma sempre da togliere il fiato....

Rita dances with the kind of wild, wonderful abandon that is seldom seen in Hollywood productions with a major star like her. Thank you
