@PatriotAr15 Hey. Just wanted to let you know that any vehicle on the face of the planet will lose control when you hit black ice on the freeway. Maybe that taught you a lesson to slow the fuck down if its wet or icy out. Especially on the freeway. Don't blame the ranger for your mistake.
Seriously, don't drive them in icy, snowy or heck... even WET conditions. I almost lost my life in one of those pieces of shit. Driving down the highway, I lost control,... did a 180, and a truck that was now in front of me... was heading for a head on colision with me at 75mph. Guy missed me at the last second, by mere inches.
@creamyfilling102 CONSIDERING That I've driven a few other vehicles, and have been in similar or even WORSE Road conditions, and have not had an issue losing control... YES I DO BLAME THE VEHICLE.
My dad is also a VERY well experienced driver with only one accident in his entire life, and no tickets on his record. He has lost control of his ford ranger on SIMPLE RAIN. These trucks simply are built wrong. It's what happens when there is no weight on the power-wheels.
I've never had a problem with my 06 ranger 4.0 2wd sliding at all. no weight or anything. and street tires no off road. if you dont drive like a jackass and you dont tailgate, you will never have a problem.
butt... everyone i know of drives like its the indy 500 and i sit back and watch 4x4 rams, rangers f150's and everything else plow into things that arent even moving.
I have an 03 Ranger 2.3 2wd. It is pretty damn good in the winter... But I carry 350+ lbs of sand and use studded snows on the rear. It gets the job done!
I got a 99 B3000 rwd. 5 spd...I live in Quebec, Can. In the winter I got studs on it. Worst piece of cr*p I ever drove in the winter. If there is any snow on the road you gotta drive like a granny, cuz it don't stop and takes for ever to get going always have to feather the throttle. Always got out of my driveway though.Other than that great truck (same as ranger). I'll get the 4wd next though!
yup, 2wd Rangers are terrible for driving in snow and on ice...I put three 70-pound bags of sand in the bed of mine for traction...it helps out a lot for taking off, but the extra weight makes it twice as hard to stop. lol
im ford all the way.. or dodge.. i got a 93 ranger 4.0L V-6 ext'd cab 4x4 5 speed. its a nice truck but is getting a little tired its got 257,700 kms on it right now so im looking at getting a newer ranger (07-09) or an F-350.
The 77' is stripped down to the frame at this point...I'm currently fitting its new 500 HP/650 Tq., 521 BBF stroker...After the engine is fit, the frame will get sprayed with industrial primer and paint, the drivetrain will be upgraded, and it will get the rust-free body off my 79' Ford I got from Arizona.
i was never really a fan of the 4 cyl for the ranger. how does the truck run? personally i find the ranger too small. i hope they decide to make a midsize pickup out of it someday.. toss in the 4.6L even.
I thought is seemed small, too...and I went to the dealer looking for a V6 Ranger. The V6 has way more torque for sure, but I wasn't impressed with the speed of the truck. Then I saw this truck, and decided to give it a try. It has really fast acceleration; not because of torque, but because the engine can rev up a lot faster than the V6. The 4.10 gears help with that, too. And with the truck not weighing much, it can cruise down the freeways at 75mph (around 3500 rpm).
Of course not one of the fastest trucks on the road, or one you'd be able to pull a huge trailer with, but it does real good for its size. And when I had my 521 machined, it could easily haul 400 pounds of parts in the box. Also does good offroad and in snow...goes anywhere I point it. Handling is great; low center of gravity...drives like a car. And it always gets at least 25mpg no matter how i drive it. Great little truck. :)
Did pretty good for its size...I had the tires spinning between 30 and 40 mph during the slides...think it hit the pavement a few times, too; sounds like the tires were squealing in a couple places.

You Ford all the way? I like Ford but I also prefer the older 60's Dodge's and Plymouth muscle cars. I got a 91 ranger, good truck.
