  • My girlfriend has this disorder. She takes medication, drinks beer & vodka and she also smokes cigarettes. I myself don't drink or smoke. I feel that she is making matters much worse by drinking & smoking while taking prescribed medications. Is there any way this disorder can be treated without medication. I would appreciate any personal advice you can give. Thanks!

  • Heyy man, I use to smoke alot, alot of weed... Do you think that it would have some thing to do with my anxiety?

  • I love this video. It is so good to show people who don't understand what I go thru on a daily basis.

    Thank you.

  • wow they last 6 months. I'm 18 and has had it sense birth or something. I haven't treated it and don't plan too.

  • It runs in my family, but my family was so dysfunctional that I didn't dare bring it up.

I think that as a little girl in our society, and in my family, sadness and fear were the only emotions allowed for a girl to have. We couldn't show anger, even if we had every reason to, so we translated our feelings into what we were allowed to feel. I was a real people pleaser for so many years, repressing rage I was entitled to, being abused. No more. My power is strong and yes I went back to school!!!

  • I'm watching your video and wondering if you have had panic attacks. I hope not. I know first hand how awful it is to live with. I missed out on a college education because I could not sit in the classrooms. I finally got on Prozac in 1990 and never want to go off. It saved me. Xanax is good, but can be addictive.

    Good luck in your career.

I'd like to add one note: a great therapist once told me that I was replacing anger with fear because it was more "socially accaeptable". Helped a lot!

  • thank you for the comment :] fortunately no, ive never had a panic attack (probably because panic doesnt come naturally to me). have you tried to return to college now that you're on medication? try to keep in mind that yes, replacing the anger with fear will help, but you must be very careful to not let that fear control you.

  • hey, i saw your video. this one. lol. i can tell you that living with panic disorder is horrifying, cuz i have it. and yea, oohhhh i also want to become a clinical psychologist. :]

  • thanks for the comment :). good deal...im glad im not the only one who has a psychological issue and wants to help other people with their's lol.

  • I suggest you learn everything you can about the "fight or flight" reflex. Learn about adrenaline and brain chemistry. And then learn Hatha Yoga - controlling the mind by controlling the breath. And bless you, child. Wounded healers are usually the best kind!!
