dubbing for german-speaking market is done very professional. it's not overdubbed, carefully the voice channels are replaced on the original sound mixing. then all channels are put together again as the original director intended it. It is changed though and may loose tiny piece of its brillance. many cinemas (bigger cities, indie cinemas) offers also the original version. all dvds have original english version on it. what DO suck on the european/german market: 2-3% speedup with the PAL standard

this trailer is only roughly dubbed. in the theatrical version it was near excellence. of course, some dialogue lines - "I have this competion in me..." e.g. are difficult. In the trailer they choose "Kampf" (fight) in the theatrical version he says "Triebfeder" (mainspring) - get lost or a weaker. Of course, a dubbed Daniel Day-Lewis is not as good as the original. But altogether the "dubbing" is excellent with really good voice actors. Process of translation is always non-lossless.

its not only that the movie is not the same without day lewis voice.. its also ..they took too much freedom with the translation.. the translation is too far away from the original dialouge and thus looses a lot of appeal

well i did not mean that the german version has grammatical errors or anything.. its just that there is so much going lost in translation.. and i just happen to be german myself ..thats why i noticed

Daniel Day-Lewis should never be dubbed. I pity anyone in any country who has to watch this movie dubbed. It changes the entire film.
