  • You're not wearing pants!

  • Not a whole lot going on ? You could hear peoples screams from the darkness who knows what's going on lol

  • Strange that you had BBC World News the actual citzens can't watch any channels only state NK ones.

  • I am really curious about that "radio". Far too many wires. You need 1 for power, If there is an external antenna, that makes two. Maximum of two for the phone... Perhaps the CNN reporter, star50ify, could expalin. Or, just re-elect our current president, and when we live in the same conditions we can just find out for ourselves. Utopia!

  • Call that a sweep for bugs? Let's see, lot's of wires... um... No, it's not bugged! The TV feed is for tourists, obviously.

  • How did you get into the country in the first place?

  • "WOW"-a five star rated hotel in North Korea, would make Tom Bodet of the Hotel Six Chain a bit jealous!!!! Remember Tom Bodet use to come on radio with a fiddle&guitar playing in the back-ground&he would advertise Hotel Six& end the commercial by saying " This is Tom Bodet from Hotel Six we will leave a light on for you"&the last three notes of the guitar would play.Kim Jong Il is saying "eat your heart out Tom Bodet".

  • Have you happened to take a careful check of the mirror?

  • Awesome. How was the trip? Did anything scary happen?

  • Its all propaganda/brainwash, my son: North Korea, in fact, is the most harmonious society

on earth, according to one UN study. Surprise, hey!

  • @MisterSunson harmonius! What does that mean ? "UN study" thats another a good one. Absolutely no credability = UN study. I guess that if I was starving I couldn't help being "harmonius"

  • NOOOOO! NOT wired at all! how much did they pay u to give that statement? :-)

  • would be intetesting place to visit....

  • What does it take to get to North Korea?

    Will they allow Mexican citizens?

  • Wow, what an ignorant ass hole you are. You come to North Korea and expect golden hotel rooms and a medal from the government bitch? No, be fucking happy you even was able to get in at all bitch. If I was leader you wouldn't be able to even move 60 miles close to my borders

  • Next time try saying "Here it is! I've found the recording device, we're clear" then say "Come in washington this is american capitalist agent 007, package has been delivered repeat package has been delivered. American capitalist agent out"

  • @ComicalHolocaust but then hell get shot and die

  • @TheFamousDragon yeah your probably right...unless they electrocute him. I guess it depends on whether they have power at the moment.

  • Well, probably the room wasn't bugged after all - since you're still alive ;) It must have been an exciting trip. I envy you a bit. I would LOVE to visit NK too, but the excursion is too expensive.

  • @FeiaFarfalana they thought he was talking about insects. They were probably like "hohoho nyo inshectoro"

  • @ComicalHolocaust Oh, yeah, insects! That was nice :))

  • BUSH FAMILY ROOM

  • yah thats a mystery but what i want to know is HOW/WHY IN THE HELL is this guy in north korea

  • @Droid5767 for about a week or two out of the year they'll let foreign tourist in.

  • I thought it would have been Fox "News" shown on North Korean TV, after all it's very similar to their own news. Full of lies and bullshit propaganda.

  • when i become president i'm gonna liberate north korea!

  • @summbich No please don't. No more wars. Just let NK collapse by itself.

  • @kingcole55 Just like Cuba... soon... wait for it... a little more...

  • doesnt look too bad, a little much, but its decent

  • Can u get internet?

  • creepy silence outside...

  • @AzFlipMan yeah, it's better when it's loud outside of your hotel room.

  • I am just curious if you happened to fly on one charter flight that sometimes operates from San Jose, California. I have an add on for flight simulator that has live updated real time flight schedules, including general aviation, and there is one charter flight from Norman Mineta Airport in San Jose to Pyongang Sunan Airport.

  • i swear, at 1:07 I read the headline on the television set as "Florida pastor, Terry Jones, suspends plans to burn Koreans" :)

  • @julianppp korans u fool

  • @tomekmisiewicz thanks for the education, bubba. you are awesome.

  • @julianppp Lol I read it as that as well to begin with, had to do a double take :-D

  • Bugging devices can be extremely hard to detect. A sure way to test the N. Korean bugging system is to begin using CIA jargon in the hotel room. Were I to bet my life on it, I'd say, yes, those rooms are bugged. Even if you "think" they wouldn't be interested in what you are up to, these people look at "everybody" the way that TSA officials look at you at the airport. Don't be naive & foolish to think that your room wasn't bugged. That's standard procedure in such a regime.

  • @unclejuniorsoprano "begin using CIA jargon in the hotel room" Yeah, you'll find out if it's bugged- you'll also end up in a prison camp.

  • @Medevila This country is evil & extremely dangerous. The voice in the video is of an unassuming man who went there intending no harm. He is quite lucky to have made it out alive. Clinton & Obama give such dictators as Kim Jong & Hugo Chavez a lot of clout & popularity. I worry that the U.S. may eventually end up like such an evil empire as this because it grows weaker & weaker by the second. $16 trillion in debt-- a day of reckoning will come & when it does...

  • @unclejuniorsoprano

I saw a laptop computer in the video. I wonder how he got that into North Korea. Foreign visitors are not allowed to bring computers into the country.

  • @newmanc6619 False.

  • @Medevila knock knock .. open the door of ur basement.... mommy made dinner

  • Burning question, did they have... you know... "room service"... you know... hookers?

  • How come there is BBC???

  • yes every north korean family requires that they have a radio in their homes for propoganda purposoues. they cant shut it off . but thet can turn the volume up or down.

  • @ 1:07 i thought the caption spoke of burning koreans .. but its koran. Is that cynical of me?

  • It's better than the "hotels" in america. I am a Muslim living in USA and so much of america is a DUMP ha ha ha ha. And this is the facts.

  • @MullParsha You're free to move to North Korea if you'd like. The fact that you're not voting with your feet makes be believe you don't really think America is a "dump." After all, you're still here.

  • @MullParsha Where did you stay at? A roach motel?

    Ever stay Trump Tower?

  • Is there any Wi-Fi in the hotel?

  • @karlanvidal dude you arent allowed a mobile phone in north korea let alone a laptop with wifi

  • @TheWorldOfJames

If you look at the right place in the video, you can see a laptop computer. Makes me wonder how he got that in. I would imagine the DPRK government has seen this video, and will be watching him very closely if he ever does go back for another visit

  • Did I hear correctly when you said, "every Korean family is issued a radio they must keep on at all times?" That's right out of the pages of "1984."

  • Do you know if they accept credit cards in North Korea?

  • @luisdaa no.

maybe at that hotel, but probably no where else.

even most of the citizens don't know what a credit card is.

  • The room could very well be bugged. Have you seen any of the 5th floor videos? or seen the 5th floor in person? There seems to be 1 or 2 monitoring rooms there.

  • I can't get over how DARK it was when you panned the camera out the window. A capitol city with so few lights on....incredible!

  • 1:34 whoa. i could be see the stars in the city!

  • That is the darkest city I've ever seen on a Friday night.

  • is the city safe to go to?

  • We pay bbc tv listings and nk get it for free!!! F@ck this crap :-(

  • how in the WORLD did u get BBC in north korea?

  • @USARMz ... BBC World Channel... Satellite ...

  • @USARMz You can get some foreign TV channels in hotels that foreign guests and visitors stay in :)

  • @USARMz probably, it is only allowed in hotels. Citizens are only allowed to watch the state's official TV.

  • How did you film this without getting caught?

  • Hot water AND electricity, you lucky dog.

  • I am surprised too see BBC news on in a hotel room in north korea ! I bet cleaners and hotel staff watch west tv with interest without being caught I bet. Gr8 vid

  • 'I've never really done the tour group thing,...'. Can you go to DPRK 'alone'? Could you tell me how you booked your visit to DPRK (when you went alone)? If you would like to see all the things that you are allowed to see, how many days do you need to be in DPRK? Did you have the chance to choose places you wanted to see? Can you buy stuff from DPRK and bring back home without any problems?

  • @1989FuturePilot You can't go to the DPRK alone. Tour groups only.

  • Is it true that visitors of that hotel are allowed to walk freely around the Island and that there is a brothel in the basement?

  • is that an ipad? i thought you werent alowed to bring in mp3 players laptops or video cameras

  • @mglory24 Yeah...so stop believing on everything you hear...DPRK is not hell!! (for tourists, obviously.)

  • @paleceumacolneta never said it was hell and i plan on visiting within the next year... i read on some tour websites that these things were not allowed thats why i asked :D

  • @mglory24 Nice...maybe we'll meet each other, 'cause I'm planning to visit Pyongyang next year too!

  • Very interesting thanks for posting. I'm alway fascinated by things like this.

  • this is amazing

  • Wow it's unbelievable how dark Pyongyang is at night. Is there any kind of curfew or anything that would have prevented you from going out?

  • Lol US Qoran burning on TV. :D

All is well with the world. Today two hge bombs went of in Iran... hmmm (nov 12 2011 now.

  • "...A radio that they must keep on at all times. They are allowed to turn it down..."

    Sound familiar?

  • @JohnRobertPosey Er no?

  • @chanctonbury63 You should seriously read George Orwelle's "1984." They are all surrounded by telescreens that cannot be turned off. It's exactly like N. Korea.... /watch?v=T8i_90uvFRo&feature=related

In 1984, they had Hate Week. They also have it in N. Korea. /watch?v=gMN7QFfUSiQ&list=PL1BB313007B47D831&index=53&feature=plpp_video

  • At LEAST they have BBC.

  • @pokemonranger21 Only in hotel rooms where foriegners are staying. It is not available to the general public. The general public are only allowed to hear State Controlled media; there is no other media.Kind of like the Democratic Socialist party has a monopoly on the media in the U.S. and IF THEY COULD, would do to all of us.

  • You really did think it was bugged, didn't you?

  • where you afraid?

  • @superimperial007 here i afraid

  • I would have JACKED OFF- all over the place on every wall, in every drawer, and even in the pillowcases. I would have also smeared my SHIT in hidden places to leave a foul stench lingering. :-D

  • @waterfordjim HELL YEAH!!! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' BOUT!!!!!!!!!

  • They(the north koreans) know that you know that they know that your e bugged and supervised. North koreans are not allowed in your room except hotel staff of course.

  • The hotel room did not look bad at all fore a country as North Korea. As a 16 year old boy we traveled with school to Moscow, it was in the mid of the cold war and the hotel state owned, was horror old furniture broken and dirty bad room let alone the beds. We protested and the Russian officials quick changes from hotels which was brand new and looks so old that we thought we where back in the 1960's.

  • I am nationalist American, but I like to take bizarrer vacation to North Korea, experience all those bizarre stories, I know tour guide are there spy on you & feed you their proganda history, yet, North Korea has bizarre appeal.

  • Notice the never ending loop of music playing outdoors in Pyongyang.

  • North Korea has electricity, TV's, and functioning bathrooms??????

  • OMG! Is that BBC news on the TV? I thought they never allowed foreign news networks on the TV in North Korea? Or do they allow that in the hotel?

  • how the heck did you get in there??

  • @schpoogie First, I checked to make sure that it is completely legal for an American citizen to travel to North Korea (it is). You then have to go through a tour agency that works with North Korea to facilitate the visa, and most all tours begin with a flight from Beijing to Pyongyang. I utilized Koryo Tours.

  • @100CountryGoal thanks, wow...i just never knew they alowed people to actually travel there! Wow!

  • @100CountryGoal thanks, wow...i just never knew they alowed people to actually travel there! Wow!

  • @schpoogie

I think the DPRK is increasing tourist travel. According to one flight simulator add on I have that has live real time worldwide flight schedules, Air Koryo has added a lot more flights to its schedule.

  • @100CountryGoal how much is the cost to get there?

  • @100CountryGoal Is it safe to israeli citizen to travel to North Korea? Where can I check this?

  • @100CountryGoal Do you have to have a reason to go and just wondering why did you go?

  • @100CountryGoal

That could change. I would not be surprised if the American government does slap a travle ban on its citizens going to the DPRK. Some Chinese and Hong Kong companies are buiding cansinos on Songbon, North Korea. And you can bet the USA will enact a travel ban, when they become more popular. Of course, you have to take a train from either Beijing, Vladivostok, or Pyongyang to get there. I am sure the American government is well aware of these casinos,

  • @schpoogie How much does a room like that cost per night? Is it affordable for normal private non corporate westerners? Do they accept credit cards? Cash? Is there currency exchange there?

  • What hotel did you stay at?

  • I stayed at the Yanggakdo Hotel. It is on an island in the middle of Pyongyang. Some more pics of the hotel and the view from the hotel can be found at my related flickr photo album if you are interested (link is visible if you click "Show more" under the video.

  • @100CountryGoal

I saw the AWESOME PICTURES! :) Oh, Okay, I haven't heard of that hotel. Did you see the Ryugyong hotel at all? How did you get to North Korea?

  • @100CountryGoal Did the government send you through a virtual X-Ray Cancer Causing strip search or put their hand down your pants or touch your junk before you could fly in and out of NK?

  • @100CountryGoal how did it cost you? i mean is it expansive?

  • damn, thats actually NICE

  • I respect you

  • @Tips247

it's in hotel, so why not?

why do you think it is allowed in regular houses?

  • If you need your ice bucket filled, just voice your request into the lamp.

  • @rickcain2320 That made me laugh.

  • the hotel was reconstructed by the Egyptians in exchange for a business deal.mobile phone company

  • its a typical north korea house

  • wat were u doin in north korea?

  • Yes, we could bring a laptop in, and no, they did not check it at all. I also brought in an iPad.

  • @100CountryGoal they must of been looking at your ipad and thinking. WOAH! WHAT HAVE WE BEEN MISSING OUT ON?

  • @100CountryGoal how much did the entire trip cost.

Of course the hotel room was bugged. Just because you can't see a bug doesn't mean there wasn't one.

    Do you regret going?

  • How do they get the signals for BBC

  • @917893678251 A big satellite dish probably - its free to air on some satellites broadcasting in Asia.

  • Yet another absolutely fascinating travelogue you have on Flickr/elsewhere, I didn't think their hotel accomodations (at least in Pyongyang) were this nice. Expensive yes, but I want to go now more than ever. The trip of a lifetime to be sure.

  • You paid all that money for a crappy hotel room and you're shocked there are listening devices? Naive.

  • Yes, all forgeign hotels do have bugged device in guest room.

I have read the story on web site that guest said at nigh "wish had playing card", next moring guest return to room from breakfast and found playing card on table.
