Another singer of Eisler in English is Eric Bentley - I would love to see a video of him as well. Only saw him once at the Edinburgh festival and he so good.

Ich glaube nicht. Aber ich finde, sie ist die beste Eisler/Dessau/Weill-Interpretin, weil sie ohne viel Drumherum sehr eindeutig und eindringlich singt. Ansonsten gibt es noch einige ehemalige DDR-Schauspieler, die das sehr gut singen können. Robyn Archer macht natürlich richtig viel Eindruck mit ihrer Interpretation.
Für mich, und sie werden lachen, ist die beste Brecht-Interpretin, nenn wir das mal so..., Milva! Doch doch, die Platte aus Stehler-Zeiten ist eine Klasse für sie, wesentlich musikalischer als May, die meiner Ansicht nach außer ein gewissen Lokalkolorit, musikalisch nicht viel zu bieten hatte. Intonations-und Rhythmische Schwächen am laufenden Band...

Weil dies aus der Sicht des Proletariers geschieht, sind Einfachheit und ein gewisser musikalischer Dilettantismus, dafür aber Entschlossenheit und Klarheit sogar erwünscht!

Bei Eisler vertrete ich aber den Standpunkt, dass es eine Musik mit konkreten Referenzen ist (Wiener Walzer, Volks-, Kunstlied, Operette etc). Z.B. im Lied von der belebenden Wirkung des Geldes, : der Kapitalist singt einen Wener Operettenwalzer.,Der Sänger muss dies auch darstellen können. Für mich singt May alles gleich. übrigens: Der beste Eisler-Sänger war Eisler selber.

She's amazing, the performance is great. Powerful, you can feel the horrible cynicism of what her character represents.
Also "Ne me demandez pas ce qu'est un homme, tout ce que j'en sais c'est le prix" - this play should be known so much more.
