I live in Hong Kong. I were order a 1/8 scale Kingtiger from this company at Aug 2009, and pay the deposit for him. And they said will finished 3-4 month. They always delay, and at April-May 2010 I can not contact this company, Back money to me!!! And I will call the police at Japan
i was gonna say bbs, you know, RCs with co2 powered bb projectiles, and plastic plating just for dramatic effect in that i wouldnt stand a chance! i've been dreaming that day since the times of RC tanks/helicopters/planes etc.
To a sherman? Think what would that do to anything that moves.... I bet even an M1A1 and Challenger would be knocked out by this monstrousity. 150 mm gun. God forbid!
lol, it has an 128 mm L/55 cannon. The Abrams has an 120 mm L/44 cannon. So the Maus has a larger caliber and a much longer barrel. That would devestate a T-72, even a Challenger 2 would get torn apart by that.
True, however depleted uranium doesn't have much of an advantage over tungsten core, which was used in WWII. The only difference being that modern tanks use sabots to deliver DU/tungsten penetrators down range. Sabots are being used to prevent the air resistance from slowing the penetrator down too much. But at short ranges a sabot would not make any difference, making the 128 mm L/55 cannon of the Maus more devestating than the 120 mm L/44 or even the 120 mm L/55 of the leo2a6 at close ranges.
Errr . . .no. The L/W ratio of the 128mm round is much smaller than a modern long rod penetrator. The basic force-per-square-inch ratio for a modern gun will be much higher than for the 128mm KwK44. Firing Pzgr43 ammo, the KwK44 has a muzzle velocity of 845m/s while even the obsolete L23 120mm APFSDS round used by Challengers in GW1 had a muzzle velocity in excess of 1500m/s
IT's true but it was to damn big and expensive so they abandoned the project. The cannons that were suppose to go on that landkreuzer aka "Ratte" were used as coastal defense in Norway I think.
wel it also had some damn good aa defense so they would have needed a b-17 bomber group to destroy it, it would probably be destroyed by some soft ground because it wasn't able to drive on the softer soils
The second version was fully assembled at Kummelsdorf, some state it may have seen action defending the factory, others state it was destroyed by the crew... either way, it was destroyed.
The Germans did finish the Maus, it was just so utterly massive & heavy that it couldn't move (properly), it ploughed up the roads when it tried to drive on them, and on the naked earth, it just sank.
The russians captured one of the prototypes, but the nazis had thought about creating an even bigger supertank: the Landkreuzer (2,500 tonnes!).
It can destroy enemy ground forces, but no aircafts. And from air, Maus is doomed.
After you deploy it, it can move a few km, and it's over... it is only a defensive weapon... stay in a place, and shoot the enemy, hidden from airforce, in a building for example. That's all... And i don't think that the engine was capable to move such a heavy weight. It's nothing, but a huge immobile gun. From that resources, they can build lots of anti tank guns for killing tanks.
yes you could it was part of the design it had petrol/electric drive one would stay on the bank and supply the one fording, which may/maynot end up submerged to a max depth of 8Ms, with electricity via a cable it then reached the far bank and process repeated.
sorry for my ignorance but what is so special about these? Isn't a Tokyo marui RC 1/16 tank good enough? Clearly, I don't know much about these things.
Two prototypes were absoulutley full functional! One the germans destroyed to not let the enemys to capture it.The other stayed almost functional wich was captured by russians, they used blown up Maus parts to build up the other. One fact is sure two tanks have been fully functional at some time. The one is russia Kubinka tank museum. But the interiour of the Maus have been destroyed by fire and burglers.
Whats the site for this tank in American?

They did, it's the big tan one. Now a 1:6 P1500 "Ratte" would have been impressive (and the size of a family hatchback)

128 mm actually and it wouldn't have done much as the ammo would even scratch the paint on a iraqe t-72

yea but they have to hit their target which a modern tank would and move twice as fast as the mause could

That, and was so slow and heavy, it could not be transported out of berlin.
gufu1992 4 years ago
Haha. It would have been bombed into oblivion by air power the second it was spotted on the field, or in transit.

vrieskip 3 years ago
No amount of anti-air defence was sufficient to stop allied air power. The U-Boat pens and V-2 facilities proved this theory correct.
PanzerAngriff 3 years ago 2
well if they build more mauses they rather won the war than with landkreuzers

co-axial 75 mm KwK 44 L/36.5 second gun
and 1 mg34
top speed 13km/h
engine 1200hp

Its a real tank. 2 prototypes were made (no combat). They were every big as ugly as the RC tank here - but just as large (in scale).

On top of that, you would be unable to move it across roads or bridges. And you sure as shit could not ford a river with it.

It would perfectly defend Germany aigenst enemys.
iz56 5 years ago
Wrong... Kingtiger also can defend it againts tanks, but the main problem was the airforce...
The Maus is to heavy, no bridge can handle it, slow, best target for CAS, and eat a lot of fuel, which germany didn't have.
So Maus is only a Symbol. In real battle, it worth shit.
Zottyo 4 years ago 2
Maus is the nr one! jonneevegas - Hmm the real tank was also easy to drive. It was real wonder to Porche engineers to.
