  • Like they said voice never I repeat never duplicated...the most unique voice ever, one that can be felt as well as heard. He gave a piece of him his soul with each song , the absolute greatest David Ruffin. Rest in peace, love, and soul

  • Yes

  • David Ruffin one of the greatest of all times.Even though you felt your career didn't blossom the way you wanted it to. Your career did blossom the way God wanted it to, because the music you left is priceless. No one ,I repeat no can sing a song like you. So I say to you Rest In Peace, because you gave each song you sanged 300% and no one can take that away from you. You were simply the best. I love you much and always, I could never love another after loving you.

  • A Voice never Duplicated --

  • David's a legend, nuff said. Rest in peace.

  • 3:18 was kinda funny

  • chills

  • This is David at his best, he saved his best for last. My fav. singer of all time. If God has a choir in heaven David is singing lead with Marvin, Barry, Eddie, Teddy, Sam, Nat, Sammy, Paul, Donnie, Willie, James, Johnny, Jackie, and Michael Jackson. Thats how great David was in my book. You guys hold it down until I can get my ticket to see the worlds greatest choir.

  • Woww! Teary eyed after this, David Ruffin was singing this from his heart for real. Amazing!

  • the best that evr did it....THATS IT CASE CLOSED!

  • I love this performance! David pulls this song out of the depths of his soul. What a tragic and beautiful man.

  • My fav male singer ever this song is a classic of classics

  • heres the proof

As a curious note, the version by David Ruffin credited Ruffin as the author of the song. This was an apparent plagiarism. Ruffin's version had the identical lyric, as well as many musical similarities to the original by Jan Crutchfield, yet it was attributed to Ruffin, and copyrighted by another publisher. Jan Crutchfield was unaware of this plagiarism until many years after the release of Ruffin's record

  • ...AND THERE ON HIS FACE, A GOLD TEAR SHOULD BE PLACED...TO HONOR EVERY TEAR HE SHED...DAVID JR. PLZ RECORD THIS ONE ~ONE MORE GEN FOR THA TEAM...WE LOVE IT !!!!

  • I LOVE YOU DAVIDDDD!!!!!

  • Perfection

  • one of the best voices ever. and nomatter how he lived he was a great singer and we never forget mr david ruffin R.I.P

  • Every time i hear a David Ruffin sing, i close my eyes to fully appreciate the powerful vocals that resonate from this man's body. It's as if he relives every emotion from his past through each of his songs. Simply amazing!-

  • It"s too bad Ruffin was so screwed up, this could have been the greatest group ever.

  • David wrote this song when he was only 18, He also wrote I want you back and gave that song to Michael Jackson. I think David would want us in part to remember him by his last interview in the UK. He said "to use our talents to the best of our ability or we might loose them. He also said he felt close to God.

    Diana

  • @dianeanddavidruffin

Sorry but....................... he didn't write it - it's an old country song.

Still - this is the best version I've ever heard.

  • I love all of you on this perfomance and Dear David you were right the first time, deep in my heart I loved you and your angel in disguise and little girl if she had to do it over again would run right to you. But the devil had me confused I thought those roses you hand delivered were from my ex I didn't know they were from you. I keep finding you in the pathways of my memory and ony God can stop my tears and I really loved you too..

  • ah girl , get yourself together

  • dave kicked ass

  • Heavenly Voice. Just hear the power in it.

  • This song demonstrates the ultimate power of David Ruffin, his ability to deliver lyrics of a destroyed man who lost love, while performing the way he did was remarkable. The showmenship of standing like a statue during the song brought out his style of telling a story of a broken heart like no other. To say that his solo career was lacking is foolish, all he needed was for Smokey Robinson to write some songs for him after he left the Tempts.

  • @abjuttie u r on piont, like no one else....great observation.

  • @abjuttie All he needed to do was get on his knees and as God to take away the drugs!

  • Seeing this performance is probaly the sadest I have ever seen this man perform before, what is so amazing the song is a great tune and he gives it a meaning that shows his pain at that time during his life. David Ruffin was the greatest representative of Motown male singers, Marvin was great too, but different in his own way, and many people would say he was better than David, however, David sang more hits than Marvin. David could produce his raw and mellow sound and give you quality.

  • @abjuttie hear hear well said.totally agree with everything youve said.

  • No one in the world but David Ruffin for this song. What a gift he had -

  • Ricky Smiley looks just like David Ruffin lol. :)

  • @Trea2030 lol, and Smiley sounds the same when he talks, lol. Damn, Smiley is as close in appearance to David than anyone else i've ever seen...isnt that truly awsome?! lol

  • i can't believe how much leon looked exactly like david! it's scary!

  • david had a better voice then his bro jimmy
