To say that his solo career was lacking is foolish, all he needed was for Smokey Robinson to write some songs for him after he left the Tempts.

Seeing this performance is probaly the sadest I have ever seen this man perform before, what is so amazing the song is a great tune and he gives it a meaning that shows his pain at that time during his life. David Ruffin was the greatest representative of Motown male singers, Marvin was great too, but different in his own way, and many people would say he was better than David, however, David sang more hits than Marvin. David could produce his raw and mellow sound and give you quality.
