Just so sad, there are SO many differences between the mach and the GT. Look it up, they are under rated, and with 4.10s they eat C5 vettes and LS1s alive. I had a 4.10 geared mach, and now I have a cammed 6.0l GTO, it's fast, but they= mach PULLED
Whoever says and 06 gto can't hit high 12's stock are complete morons that. Lesson number 1. A 2004 GTO runs 13.3 on a good day and thats with 50 less horsepower, and a good driver add 50 more horsepower to the GTO which came out in 06 thus we have high 12's. No ones saying they run 12.1 running 12's is running 12's even if it's 12.99 you still made the 12 range gosh people are such idiots these days
You people who think gto's run 12's stock are out of your mind. They weigh 3725 pounds, and 400 hp is only to the crank, not to the wheels. Power to weight ratio isn't good at all in those cars. Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting them down, I actually like the way they look, and I'd probably drive one, but they don't suit the power factor that you could get out of other cars.
i actually have 06 ls2 gto 6 speed and the best i could get out of it at the track was a 13.80. they have a lot of wheel hop and no traction. i was cutting 2.30 60fts. my tbss was pulling better times lol. i did 3 14 sec passes before the 13. however on a roll it is a different story. i have beat plenty of high 12 sec cars on rolls in it.

@SStripp3d Not quite. The LS2 GTO only runs low 13s, 13.3-13.2. A stock 96 cobra will do that. A stock 5 speed Mach with a good driver will go 12.8s. That's why the first 2 runs he pulled away from the GTO. The third run the driver screwed up the launch and spun bad, you could hear it.

@muscletruckdude I do know someone who has gone 13.29 in a stock 96-98 cobra, and another who went 13.33 in a 96 I think. As mine sits, with 3.73 gears (as any cobra owner will tell you, you can actually lose time with 3.73s over the stock 3.27s), exhaust and a filter, I'm running the equivalent of a 13.6. And I'll be honest, I'm not driving the car that great.

Anyone who rips on ether car is a loser. Both good cars for different reasons. GTO with LS2 has more potential (add supercharger/cam and enjoy), but the Mustang is lighter and has a bit more interesting looks to it. And for those recently posted. the Grand prix has the LSA 5.3, and the G8 has the L76 6.0. I know because I own a G8 and my friend has a prix.

More like tires, intake, php spacer, tune, and full exhaust.. I know because I completed the same task MANY times on the road and at the track. With those mods alone I was hitting a 12.7- 12.8 consistently. I won't consider a few bolt on's as heavily modded.... LOL o btw the ls1 GTO has a hard time getting to the mid 13's.....
@Mitroff85 i have a 06 chevy trailblazer ss(ls2) all wheel drive and i run 13.40s all day with 1.8 60fts on stock 20" rims and tires @5200lbs! and thats with a homemade intake and handheld tuner(junk). im goin to do electric fans,underdrive pulley,headers and a real tune for a shot at 12s in this pig! lol my truck is all launch and not much top end due to the weight and the intake is designed for torque not hp. only traps 101mph now but not for long! and its a terror on the street with awd!
@95BlackGA exhaust, intake, and maybe a short throw on the Mach? Not to mention the mach has a 4.6 and the GTO has a 6.0. On paper the mach has 305hp at the fly and the GTO has 400hp at the fly.... I think there is a little bit of room even with the mods for the GTO to still be at a horsepower and torque advantage. The problem is the GTO is way to damn heavy... I mean monaro... i mean malibu.... I mean POS!!!

@RMez31 I have 3 friends with mach1s and they all own the mach1s only as daily driven cars and they all say mach1s have very weak internals. My neighboor (friend) has blown the transmission twice and blown a bearing once too. He owns 7 mustangs and is a ford mechanic and he says mach1s r only good to daily drive a nice car but to build it sucks. everythign is expensive and it wont hold much power. My other firend has a mach1 on boost and he cant boost more than 8 pounds otherwise it blows.

@cwhcj Mach 1 curb weight is around 3300lbs., GTO curb weight is around 3700lbs. I doubt 400lbs makes that much difference when the GTO has close to 80HP and 60FT/LBS Torque more than the Mach 1.

Which comes out to being the truth at the track and on the road.VERY fast???? not really 12-13 sec q miles is not very fast....... take a ride in a zr1 or zo6---- that's very fast----- or better yet a sub 10 drag car. My mach is a daily driver full bolt on and will do a 12.5 ALL day long. no problem with stock ls2 c6's or GTO's. HELL even a stock cobra. all it takes for the LSX motors is a cam and for mod motors BOOST

@batmobilestang only 1 of the 2 GTO's has an edge on the mach 1.... That's the LS2.... which is in this video. Heavily modded to beat a stock LS2? I don't think so..... More like tires, intake, php spacer, tune, and full exhaust.. I know because I completed the same task MANY times on the road and at the track. With those mods alone I was hitting a 12.7- 12.8 consistently. I won't consider a few bolt on's as heavily modded.... LOL o btw the ls1 GTO has a hard time getting to the mid 13's.....

@Mitroff85 i have a 06 chevy trailblazer ss(ls2) all wheel drive and i run 13.40s all day with 1.8 60fts on stock 20" rims and tires @5200lbs! and thats with a homemade intake and handheld tuner(junk). im goin to do electric fans,underdrive pulley,headers and a real tune for a shot at 12s in this pig! lol my truck is all launch and not much top end due to the weight and the intake is designed for torque not hp. only traps 101mph now but not for long! and its a terror on the street with awd!

@95BlackGA exhaust, intake, and maybe a short throw on the Mach? Not to mention the mach has a 4.6 and the GTO has a 6.0. On paper the mach has 305hp at the fly and the GTO has 400hp at the fly.... I think there is a little bit of room even with the mods for the GTO to still be at a horsepower and torque advantage. The problem is the GTO is way to damn heavy... I mean monaro... i mean malibu.... I mean POS!!!

loss calculations and thats still a ways to go for 400whp. Second, what are you driving a V8 g35 swap? As you'll be the first g35 I've seen dyno with a higher torque rating than hp. I'm asking for another dyno not from the same place you got those numbers, because 20:1 vq engines will have lower tq than hp

All this hate on GM is funny, ZR1 has a high price cause of the light weight components and other things to be a better track car. Notice how GM doesn't pay attention to ford and goes straight after euro cars lmao. I've yet to see a mustang go around a track properly without it being roush tuned or track prepped. Ford just started caring about mustangs handle going around a corner with the 2011 model. Ford still trying to win the str8 line battle while GM won that & moved on to circuit tracks

@adcstmh the zr1 kills the gt stock vs stock buddy...and mustangs were never able to beat gm, up until the new 5.0. The 5.0 is like the first comparable mustang that can beat a camaro..and its by like a couple tenths of a second. Plus the new camaro looks way better than the stang. the cobras are 50 grand and lose the comparable corvette. Ford has lost it's whole life to gm when making performance cars....except finally now in 2011. Plus everyone and there mother has a mustang...il take the gto.

@RMez31 I have 3 friends with mach1s and they all own the mach1s only as daily driven cars and they all say mach1s have very weak internals. My neighboor (friend) has blown the transmission twice and blown a bearing once too. He owns 7 mustangs and is a ford mechanic and he says mach1s r only good to daily drive a nice car but to build it sucks. everythign is expensive and it wont hold much power. My other firend has a mach1 on boost and he cant boost more than 8 pounds otherwise it blows.
