Guys guys, there is a big difference between Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Libya or Irak. Middle East is not all the same at all. You can't generalize everything like that. Some countries are very nice in fact. Much more generous to their people than America. Some others, like the two first, are very very repressive. Weirdly, the US support them....
@33comoro < You are right, Lebanon was a nice place to live in the Middle East till Hezbollah showed up. Israel is nice too but they are not left alone by anti-Israeli enemies.
Arabians were the original slave traders and practice slavery to this day. USA politicians and banks support Saudi Arabia for many different reason.
I don't think we are on the same vibe my friend... I really don't approve Israel's manners. They are the most racist country in the world. Their constitution IS RACIST by definition... anyways... I don't want to get in a debate. Just saying, you should maybe read more and listen less. For what you will see is unequal.
@Licmycat "Weenies"? Shut up you dumb cunt. You dare to talk about genital mutilation, and you can't even call the member in question by a grown-up term?
If you're going to stand up for women's rights, try not to sound like a stupid little girl when you do it..
BTW- If you really believe what you said, then you are no better than they are.. Ahhh, the savagery of sheltered hypocrites..
its funny how bahrain ended up because the americans are sad they didn't help there allies the saudis and at the same time the saudis are helping the bahrain government beat up their citizens.
Arabs have been enslaving people for millenia. Especially with Islam. Atleast prior to Islam the Arabs treated all those they enslaved with the same contempt. With Islam, they made divisions/grades of their slaves. The Arabs have had female sex slaves from North East Africa and Eastern Europe and have been enslaving Negroes long before Whites. They actually used to castrate Negro men and equated them as "beasts". Negroes are called as Abid (which in Arab literally means slave).
@Zeno1999 Could not agree more. So many people work and just barely break even each month. The difference between that and fullblown slavery is next to nothing. The only difference is that slaves know they are slaves. Slaves get food and a place to sleep. We get money from working, enough to buy food and a place to sleep. The same result.
The UAE has now admitted to hiring Erik Prince formr CEO of Blackwater, new company Reflex Responses to protect the regime from unruly exploited migrant workers and the evil bogeyman Iran. Gulf Arab regimes are despotic.
This isn't about race or ethnic purity or any of that bullshit, immigration is a completely separate issue, as long as people comming in have the same rights and the same minimum wage as natives there's no problem
But if you've got a two tier workforce with one half that has no rights and can be paid whatever the employer finds convienient then they will always be used as a tool against the wages and conditions - and freedom - of the local population
Funny how allied forces like NATO ignore the UAE's inhumane treatment of humans, because they have corporations like KBR, Halliburton, and Xe as their muscle.
You will never, ever hear any of this on American corporate news. I’m of the opinion the entire Muslim clergy in Saudi Arabia is nothing but so many sock puppets for its royal family. The Qur’an teaches nothing of that, yet like so many holy books its verses which contradict favored policies are abandoned. Oil empire, royal empire and bank empire--3 favorite things of oppressors everywhere.
@blackiron60 As does all Marxism—in a simplistic waste of time—your backward and illogical presentation fails to apprehend the plain reasons showing why the slave revolts of Sparticus' day were unable to maintain—y'need some book larnin', there, Buddy, . . .
how about mentioning that middle east has had slaves for 1000s of years ...most from africa ..eunuchs were slave men that were castrated and were in charge of guarding the women in their harems, under penalty of death if another man should even get to look at the women in their charge then they actually had some respect if u want to call it that. but that was then ..now they treat them like they are pieces of sh..t and dont hear about the ones they punish to death.
Actually, the number of foreign workers in the Gulf states is in the millions. They make up almost 4 out of every 5 workers in Saudi Arabia alone. Most Saudis don't have to work thanks to government dole given out on a regular basis. The same can be said for most of the other gulf states. I've known about these severe human rights abuses for over a decade now. There was news last year on the gruesome torture and killings of Indonesian maid in Saudi yet the Indonesian people don't criticize them.
This may sound culturalist but there is another reason for the huge presence of migrants in the Gulf. Many citizens have a Mudir syndrome meaning that they prefer to be the boss rather than work in a team, and unless the Gulfies kick this syndrome then they will keep using migrants.
Good report. Teaching/language training employers are notorious exploiters. Passports taken. Contracts given in English to sign which are not the same as those contracts in the local language. Dreadful working conditions. No rights to benefits or basic citizen rights accorded. "Company store" situations, penalties given for infractions, pay withheld or never given. Some of the biggest and most famous employers are the worst, too. Beware.
The shit heeled religitards of the shitholeeast deserve to be slaves to the West. They deserve to work back breaking jobs and 16h/day just to buy enough food to watch their children starve to death. Why? Because we are awesome and capitalism is awesome. I love to vote and shop and pretend that eveything is ok! I love seeing dead brown people stacked up in oil rich countries because that means I will most likely get a chance to buy the new iPhone. My life is WAY more important than a Muslim's.
@MiracleMile90 Heh, yeah publicly venting my frustration. The system is so archaic and cumbersome... and the people that need to get the fuck out of the way for progress think exactly how I have described. What absolutely slays me is how some of these folk aren't even wealthy. They are just John Q Fuck-Fuks like me and you. As for the wealthiest 1%ers... they all have to go. Dipshits like Bill Gates could throw all of their resources into green infrastructure but they don't.
I view the "worth" of a culture by how it tries to prevent and stop suffering. We send aid money, our doctors, and medicine to places all over the world, and countries like Saudi Arabia that are swimming in money, are funding warlords and extremist groups. Saudi Arabia is a moral and intellectual vacuum. Our leaders praise Saudi Arabia while condemning Iran. Hypocrites.
@Mahoivlich My guess is that when you're talking "we" you mean USAmericans? The USofA is the only country that goes into other countries and causes lots of suffering and death. In fact THE reason for violent deaths of the last 40 years. The CIA is THE source of funds for warlords and extremist groups. How are you possible to compartmentalize so effectively? Just curious ;-)
@Mahoivlich RE" i view the "worth" of a culture by how it tries to prevent and stop suffering. We send aid money, our doctors, and medicine to places all over the world" you are joking right? the west takes 100 times more than if gives...typical kuffar.
Considering Abu Dhabi and Dubai are both bidding to host the 2020 Olympic Games, I think it's vitally important that people around the world are informed of the horrendous treatment of migrant workers in these countries. The International Olympic Committee will be making the decision who will host the 2020 games in 2013, make your voices heard and demand the games are not held in these backwards countries.
So when is the human rights left going to start an Arab Slave State Week campaign? Or how about an Arab Apartheid Week? Yeah, I'm not going to hold my breath either.
@MiracleMile90 Agreed, and I am no Conservative btw. I'm a secularist who is pro-women and pro-gay rights and yes, even pro-palestine. But the failure of the "Left" to really stand for these values when it matters and their apologetics for fascist, homophobic, racist organizations (e.g. Hamas & Hezbollah which I have often heard Leftists call "resistance" or even "freedom fighters" -- yeah, tell that to women, gays, christians, and progressives how pro-freedom these militants are) is shameful.
@Mojo1982 Sure the were, which is why, one would think or hope the "Left"* would protest such obvious injustices in the Arab World.
(i use quotation marks because many who proclaim to be Leftists have abandoned Left-wing values for an odd romance with religious, homophobic, sexist, fascists)
@AdebillYuden The problem is, that the masses have been deliberately left uneducated (apart from a religious education, which of course, is useless) so that if they DO revolt, they will try to install a theocracy. This is why they have so many guest workers, because they don't want their own people doing anything that requires an actual education.
You know, most of the world hates Americans. Not only in the middle east... You should wonder why.

Saudis invented slavery and still practicing it. They mainly love enslaving non-Muslims.
