  • Gotta love that moonwalking horse!

  • Considering reactivating right now. Honestly...most games now have steered away from the MMORPG format. Less and less open world and all about questing. I honestly liked grinding...bu that's just me.

  • Good video. Explains a lot of important things for new players.

"DAoC is not really about the PvE." I actually quit DAoC when they moved PvE leveling out of the way so people can just skip it to get to RvR. Before that all I ever did was PvE. Loved it. (How can you not love a living breathing persistent world MMORPG with no instancing?)

  • @PlasmicRedX Was also not big on this game's RvR but very big fan of the game's Battlegrounds. Would have rather the RvR been smaller.

Never was a fan of templates. Big fan of just wearing whatever item you find.

So unfortunately I hated this game's direction pretty much after it was released. I would much like to play this game's original release version 1.0 (or whatever version that is).

Saying this game looks like EverQuest would be like saying Warhammer looks like EverQuest 2. Just no :P

  • @PlasmicRedX it doesn't look like EverQuest... it's just that a lot of the systems and game mechanics feel very much like EverQuest... which is also not really a terrible thing... it's just a fact :D

  • @CloakingDonkey I guess DAoC was a lot like EverQuest in that it was an RPG with dungeons and dragons and an auto attack system. Yeah but the game was not at all designed to be like EverQuest. It had battlegrounds in mind designed from the start.

WoW has taken over and few or nobody respects the legendary firsts anymore except those that played them! EverQuest, Dark Age of Camelot, Meridian 59, Ultima Online... all these old school MMORPGs need to stick together now. :)

  • @PlasmicRedX I wholeheartedly agree. Us old schoolers are the few, the proud, the grind proof :D I'm always happy to meet folks who played any of the old games... DAoC, UO, M59, Asheron's Call, EQ - doesn't matter.. we all played when it wasn't the "cool" thing to do because we loved the experience and we weren't scared to face some grinds or tough times =)

  • @PlasmicRedX don't get me wrong dude i love the world... i love that there's almost no instancing whatsoever but it's just a simple fact of the matter that the main focus of the game was always the War between the 3 realms and not the war between say, Hibernia and the Fomorians ;) And while I will agree that it's maybe a little too fast now, it was almost impossible to get into the game after Darkness Rising... with Masterlevels, Artifacts, Champion levels, Champion Quest, Template, etc...

  • @CloakingDonkey Yeah I'm a fan boy with my own unique views on the game. That may be how the devs envisioned camelot even before the game began, I don't know. All I know is that I played the game like it was a coop Skyrim and feared enemy realms invading my realm. To my disappointment later, wasn't possible.

Even though Mythic wanted the game to just focus on rvr, which I didn't like, they still accidentally alienated customers like me with changes. Haha oh well shit happens.

  • Whoa, playing an MMO without a minimap feature is harsh - is the UI moddable? If not, then i'll stay away from this one.

  • @Bankstercide it is

  • @Bankstercide yes the UI is moddable in many ways. You can freely drag all the UI elements around the screen and you can also use a custom UI. There are a lot of custom UIs around as well ;) the modding possibilities are not as crazy as, say, WoW, but there's still a bunch of different possibilities ;)

  • Looks like everquest
