  • i'm sure out west in one of the storage yards until scrapped... my father also flew b-17's... If you search you can find some info on sites ...

  • Thank God for the crews that flew these baby's over Nazi Germany. I salute all the allied vertans who have fought and are still fighting to presereve the freedoms we in the United States take for granted

  • Beee sevunteeen bawmbor!

  • Hello! I am a former crew and restoration member (1998-2008) on this B17G from "Falcon Field" in Mesa Az.

This is a very nice video of our B17G.

I am writing this post because I would like to inform the videographer that I have made some major updates to this aircraft(in 2008), and he should make a new video to show the much improved appearance"inside & out!

Thanks for this "old" look back, before the "new look"!.

  • Can't waight to get it done.hopefully she'll be close soon!!

  • @darrme62 great job!

  • @darrme62

Is the CW radio shown in this video standard aircraft ??

We got the same radio here.

My dad was a radio opperator on PBY transport to england

  • my Dad was a radio man in B-17s in the pacific until the army air force switched to the longer ranged B-24.

  • This is a beautiful fort. I had the opportunity to fly on this from Scottsbluff, NE to Rapid City, SD last June. Amazing airplane! The view from the nose was spectacular!

  • Did the B-17 have the Ball Turret on the bottom? Or was that the B-25?

  • Yes,the B-17 did for sure,don't know about the B-25.

  • the later versions of the B-25 had ball turrets, too.

  • Nice for you. Cool airplane

  • Nice video, but the music does not fit.

  • bee seventeen baumer

  • Other than that nice video you strung togeather! :]

  • The Memphis Belle never returned to the United States because its in Duxford, United Kingdom!!! Or it went back to the USA and then returned to Britain years later as i see her when i go to Duxford IWM and have been inside her, you walk on a plank and in the bomb bay is all open, one slip on the plank and your through the bomb bay doors.

  • THANKS-----:)

  • The Memphis Belle is in Dayton, Ohio at the USAF Museum undergoing restoration. How do I know? Because I live in Dayton and I've seen it. Before that it was on display on Mud Island in Memphis, Tennessee. Go to the USAF Museum website to see the restoration for yourself. Get your facts straight.

  • That Belle in England is a repaint of the original. I think it was one involved in the movie. There is a Belle in flying condition that travels around the US in addition to the REAL Memphis Belle that resides in Ohio. It languished in Memphis for many years, and was somewhat restored, as I recall, and had a fairly nice shelter built for it. You can visit the real one, now that it is in ohio, on Fridays at noon I think.

  • Sorry bout that, and yeah the repaint over here flys as well and so does another in france, think there are only 3 that are still air worthy but idk.

  • Im a loadmaster for this plane...nice video

  • Thanks for the comment!!

  • i was in a b-17, and a b-24 bomber once, its cool! they stopped by an airport nearby our house, so our dad took us to see it, nice vid man, 5 stars :-)

  • superb photo's. makes one appreciate what it must have been like fighting in the skies over europe in somewhat cramped conditons. to bale out in a spiralling bomber was almost impossible. you can see why.

  • Thanks--also can you imagine how cold it must have been at times---no heat!

  • Thanks!

  • Nice work Dundee, enjoyed the way you captured the tour. If you wanna see how it looks after being in 70 metres of seawater for 60 years have a look at "B17 Bomber Dive" on our channel. Best wishes Coolbluefilms.

  • Such garbagy music is a disgrace to the plane but the shots are fantastic.

  • Each gun has only enough amo to fire 1 Minute--better pick your shots!!

  • no xtra ammo 4 hours with defence inn and out of germany and 1 min ammo?

  • Yeah but US bombers had escort fighters there and back. The RAF flew alone at night :(

  • the RAF also had more chances of wrecking into 1 one another. :/

  • Yeah that too! Theres a video on YT of a liberator being struck by a bomb falling from a bomber higher up :O

Another thing was the German fighters were free to come out at night and attack bombers, but towards the end any on the ground or in the air during the day couldn't get near before they were destroyed!

  • How were you involved in these?

  • involved?

  • Thought maybe you were a pilot Smiert

  • Oh no way, I'm scared of flying (I only did a small low flight once - as a passenger). I can't handle G-forces, but I do love the aircraft themselves ;) I'm only 23 as well.

  • A guy can really daydream thinking about those planes--I bet there were also many good memories that came from those planes
