i bought the osp stm-1300 and now am looking into these for the studio I lost my 10% of my next purchase card but still have my receipt can I use that on these drums every penny counts.
@palaflia i would advise against it. I owned this exact set and it's crap. The velocity hitting of the toms and snare are aweful. The cymbals don't have a way to stop ringing after you strike. The bass pedal has to be hit very hard to register a good sound. Don't be cheap like me and invest in a better set
@ZackyV thanks for your advice. The thing is that I am just starting to learn, I will do it as a hobby. I don't think I need something professional. My budget is that and I will choose between one of those sets.

The answer is yes but, if you want a kit to play serious or metal songs i recomend to you to spend a little bit more of money, or buy an acoustic kit.
how many preset drums are there, and how long do the cymbals last? also does it have any play along songs set onto the set, and does it have a jack so i can put in my ipod to listen to some tunes?
I have some question, I got a DD502, and when I set up the bass, when kick the bass, it not sound the sound i set up, it sound like...just like something wrong the bass...how can i fix it?
@Legomygrego16 Yes I am VERY impressed with it. I love how you can play along with the songs...and how you can customize your own drumkit! I put it together without instuctions becasue it was really that easy....I would acually highly reccommend this drumkit to you!
I have the dd505 kit and everything is the same except the cymbals are round and the pads are bigger and black. wtf i could of got basically the same kit for less. Ahhhh shit lol

Stuff together, never set up a drum kit let alone a electronic one and hate little screws and bolts. How longneould it take me to build this, if I can that is. Thank you and nice demo, persuaded me to buy it

I suspect that the more 'pro' the drummer is, the more they'll consider this a 'toy'. That's fair enough too!
To be honest, I'd be reluctant to pay the full - new - price for one of these, but there's a steady stream of them up for sale from peeps who bought them on a whim and then discovered they have no rhythm...
If you find out you are one of them - just sell it on!
Yes. The frame is symmetrical, and you can place any pad or cymbal pretty much anywhere you like.
The second - lower - bar that's holding the snare can just as easily be fitted to the right hand post, just as it's fitted here to the LH one.
It's a great starter kit, but is obviously limited as it only has single-trigger pads so no variety of sound other than volume once you've selected the actual drum sound you want from each pad.
it sucks so bad i've got a Yamaha dtxplorer and used to have one of these the difference is amazing. remember this video isn't the whole truth they are not trying to help you there trying to sell it.
Of COURSE Roland and Yamaha are in a different league - but so are their prices. The only Roland I know of that's comparable in price is their entry-level HD1. Would I choose that Roland over this kit? I'm not so sure - the Roland doesn't even have a proper kick pedal...
You COULD use this with a live band or for rehearsal - obviously it has its limits but it'll provide a perfectly adequate rhythm section for most 'local' bands.
as i said, great for leisure play, I know these arnt comparable to Rolands, I'm just saying that these drums are not semi-pro instruments, I would consider this a toy, as i would also consider the HD-1 a toy. I'm just trying to say that this kit is only an entry level kit and nothing more. As far as I know Roland dominates the e drum market but there WAY over priced. I think this kit is worth the money, but no more then a leisure kit.
Guitarking - changing the heads will only affect the ACOUSTIC sound (the 'thump' audible to other people in the room!) not the electronic. They will probably also slightly affect the dynamics - how the sticks bounce.
MESH heads will, I understand, be the quietest, and probably also the be the most authentic feeling - although I am more than happy with the standard pads. (Mesh heads - around £30)
5MinuteEpoxy, you can assign ANY of the sounds to ANY of the pads! 8 snares if you like...
Another name for essentially the same system. However, the Hayman's kick pad - like the one in the video above - looks like the larger size, useful if you want to fit two kick peddles.
(I have this kit in Arbiter XTD-102 form - identical to the kit above, but has only single-sized kick pad.)
Vivalaethan, the only difference I am aware of between the 502 and 505 models is that the latter has round cymbals! Ie: a purely cosmetic difference only. They have identical pads, brain, stand, features, etc.
These kits are released under MANY different names (Session, Legacy, Millennium, Mamba, etc) with only slight cosmetic variations between them - different coloured pads, possible different sizes of kick pad, etc. - but they are essentially the same.
Any one planning on buying this kit, please read this first. This is NOT i repeat NOT an professional or even semi pro instrument, the sounds are very cheesy and acousticly this kit is VERY loud. for $500.00 you get what you pay for. the cymbals are single trigger as well as the pads and the heads crack and dent after a while. Great for leisure play but not even comparable to Rolands. For a semi pro kit, go with the Roland TD-4's. they sound great. This is a fun set to mess around on
I'm not entirely convinced about the quality of this kit. The guys seem to be over-selling it a bit. Can the heads be replaced with mesh? What does the amp sound like (the one that comes with it, not the Peavey they have it hooked up to in the vid)? I noticed the kick pad moving quite a bit and he didn't seem to be hitting it that hard. How well does this (or will this) stand up to regular, fairly hard use?
yes it does i play with roland pads pd 80r,kd8,pd8,cy8,cy5 and it works good except kick trigger , it dosn't sound very loud with module presets but if u trigger midi with vst ezdrummer bfd A.D etc. u can turn up the volume of the kick . am using sound blaster x-fi pro it gves me latency below 2ms wich is good. PS. dont buy this drumset!!!!!!!!! its a crap ,pads r cocky its even worse than IED 05 period.
I am a absolute beginner & have never hit a drum before. Would that model be the right thing for me ... or should I look on eBay for something cheaper ... maybe pre-owned?
Hey, thanks for replying. I bought this kit a week ago ... and it's awesome. It was pretty cheap (300,- €) & it fits great for beginners ... which I am. I am making good progress & will probably hang on to it for a few years ... until I am getting more advanced.
This is a awesome kid for a medium player. For a realy beginner that plays for the first time i just say: take the dd501 its dont haves 200+ sound in it just one kit but its just better for a realy beginner.
im seriously thinking of buying this kit, i currently have a starter kit which is very limited (i am only a beginner i guess, i play for fun mostly!) but i like to listen to my own music as i drum, is it possible to do that through the aux in socket??
i got a yoki dd908 off ebay real cheap but now i cant get it to work on my pc with ezdrummer. i bought a 40dollar cable usb to midi in and midi out. :( someone please help me out thanks.
hey guys i started with one of these kits and i happily advise this kit if u start drummin it is a great kit, great sounding and perfect for the commited starter drummer.
if u had a roland kit with mesh it makes no noise only when u hit the edge to make different sounds and have a better module and 3 way cymbals....pretty much what i am trying to say is OSP is not very good...go with roland IF YOU CAN if not try yamaha electrics
can you use the hihat pedal as a doouble bass pedal?

Things i need to know:
can you use ANY amp with this kit?
Can you use any old speekers with this kit?
how to u record yourself playing on this kit? (without amp or speekers, using your pc or something)
can you do anything to do with your pc with this kit? if so what?
TehDrumZguy 1 year ago
@TehDrumZguy It has both a normal stereo 6.35 mm socket, labelled "headphones".
Plus 2 mono 6.35 mm sockets (left and right).
So it's basically the standard audio plugs that amps use, you can plug straight in.
my small guitar amp doesn't have enough bass (can't hear the kick drum) , so i plug it into my computer's 5.1 speaker setup to get adequate bass.
It also has a midi out. So with a MIDI to USB converter you can hook it upto your PC.

I'm keen on the drums wich can make scratch noises, ans others sounds wich are very cool ...
So, can this drum make that kind of strange sounds ??

im seriously thinking of buying this kit, i currently have a starter kit which is very limited (i am only a beginner i guess, i play for fun mostly!) but i like to listen to my own music as i drum, is it possible to do that through the aux in socket??
fazza4cafc 3 years ago
@fazza4cafc yes it has an aux socket so you can plugin your own music to play along with.

Nolanhod 3 years ago
if u had a roland kit with mesh it makes no noise only when u hit the edge to make different sounds and have a better module and 3 way cymbals....pretty much what i am trying to say is OSP is not very good...go with roland IF YOU CAN if not try yamaha electrics
drummerboi621 3 years ago
Yeah, and the lowest end roland kit starts at 3 times the cost of this medeli kit. This kit is pretty crap compared to roland gear.
iambonker 3 years ago
most likely, you're hitting plastic pads.
gunstar9 3 years ago
The pads aren't plastic. if you look at the black version you can see that's its a type of foam or something.
pandablob 3 years ago
Would this kit be good for a beginner?
