  • its leslie west live at the fillmore 1970!

  • Is this smack alack?

  • i'm not sure but i think hillel slovak from th red hots used one of these

  • @nicklei369 yea, he did. He brought me here. :)

  • my god, i don´t need to fuck today!

  • I got a univox superfuzz B.Y.O.C. kit for Christmas, it had germanium diodes, and it was well worth the money!

  • This sounds absolutely sweet! Nice demo.

  • dirty boy pedals

  • it's amazing the difference that little switch makes in the tone, and yet it all sounds fantastic

  • Gnarly Fuzz-goodness!!!!!

  • Pluck out some "tommy" tunes man... Townshend would love you.. He did in fact use this fuzz, and the "newer" version with the huge rubber top..

    Killer!

  • Can you tell us what type of transistors are in there? What numbers and letters are on them?

  • Check out the Harakiri Fuzz from Creepy Fingers, it's their take on the Super Fuzz.

  • @gearmanndude I absolutely concur with @ehowie. The Harakiri Fuzz from Creepy Fingers is where the money is. I have one of my own that I bought several years ago, and it sounds identical to the one in the video, it even has the toggle for mid-scoop.

  • love some of that chicken plucking pickin yeaaa ha!

  • This is SO good. This and the Ram's head Big Muff are the 2 best fuzzes IMO.

  • @d3reilly cool... I think I can hear places on Siamese Dream where there's a middy guitar (op amp big muff I guess?) and then a sharper sounding gnarlier one will come in over it or after it and I think that's probably a superfuzz? anyway, I'm loving the idea of stacking different fuzz/dist/od songs to achieve a good mix in heavy guitar style songs like these

  • @monkeyxx Well traditionally, the Big Muff is the more scooped sounding, but most vintage fuzzes are. The Superfuzzes in SD can be heard at the end of 'Cherub Rock' and provide a raspier fuzz. If you're looking for the Siamese tone a big muff is the main ingredient, along with a vintage MXR distortion II for leads. (Billy said in a recent video he ran it through the Big Muff). I personally used a Fulltone OCD through a Big Muff into a small Fender Champ and it worked beautifully for solos.

  • oh boy josh homme has this on his pedalboard and billy corgan loves it now, too! sounds superb, love the grunty octavey thing...like a well behaved Scrambler

  • @monkeyxx Billy Corgan used a Big Muff and Superfuzz in parallel for Siamese Dream.

  • That sounds Great!

  • Dang - that is DECENT fuzz.

  • Wow

  • Before they sent men to the moon they could build a killer fuzz. Technology seems to be killing us in the fuzz department.

  • LOL Looks like a Star Wars pedal ! I want it !

  • Wow- great stuff. Never saw this before.

  • what the heck was intro song? i loved it!

  • @nubbinnoob - You must be new to the planet ... theme song from 60's show The Munsters. ;-)

  • @Rikitocker idk how i missed that, cause i used to watch munsters on nick at nite when i was a youngster

  • now thats some musical fuzz. in all coolness of sound.

  • GMD: The Guyatone Micro TZ-2 is a Univox Superfuzz clone according to the Guyatone website.

  • Try JMI amplification (Brittish Company) they make clones of all the goodn's like Tone Bender, Rangemaster, and Super Fuzz. They call it the JMI Supa fuzz though?

    Cheers from Canada!

  • the real question is:

    fuzz face or super fuzz?

  • Sounds like an Alien Micky Mouse stuck in a mouse trap .

  • Has it different circuit from tychobrahe?

  • Now that's how a guitar should sound!

  • Now that's how a guitar should sound!

  • wow

  • Dude, your voice sounds identical to Jack Black. It made my day XD

  • @21after2 It fucking does too! Haha

  • now thats what i call vintage

  • Damn, i couldn't resist, and i built this...it is absolutely AMAZING!

  • Theres this company called Watson electronics that make an exact replica/schematic of this pedal. Bought one a year or two and its great. It's even got an internal tweak pot where you can change the tone to a 60's or 70's model sound.

  • What is the song at the beginnign of the vid?

  • @peacemusic17 theme from The Munsters

  • this is jack black - how you doing you awesome rock of pure shizzness

  • great demo. your voice sounds like jack black.

  • This with a talk box would be crazy

  • Oh boy... Live at Leeds fuzz tones...

  • that thing is a gem... ill give you $1000 for it haha

  • For those looking for the "tone"... Gearmanndude's got it! Cheers!

  • pheww!! AWEsome sound!! This is the kind of tone Boutique pedal makers are

fallin' ALL over themselves to duplicate. Think I hear some Octave-up tones in there,

no?? Looks like whoever owned this b4 GMD Played the HELLA out of it.

  • what's the song on the intro?

  • Sick ass shit... Do they still make these pedals? If not, Someone probably makes a copy of this pedal like you said. If you find a good pedal that someone makes that sounds like that HIT ME UP PLEASE!!!!

  • I think Black Cat makes a super fuzz that is supposed to be like this one... just saying... You probably already know of the Leeds Fuzz by BYOC as you demoed it... pretty similar too!

    Nice demos man!

  • That pedal's epic!!!

What's the song at the beginning?

  • Holy shit those lows at 1:33 - 1:35

  • OMG, that thing screams men... nhauuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Im sure jack white dont know this pedal ahahah

  • haha I love how at least one of the highest rated comments on all of Gearmandude's videos is about how he is Jack Black.

  • Dumpster treasure... you can say that again, those boxes cost like 350$ these days!

  • Plan-9 makes a clone, the Super Wild Fuzz Si.

  • jack black?

  • Wow!

  • Pure and absolute tone! No BS! amazing. Cheers

  • Too much awesomeness!!

What's the closest thing to this on the market?

  • @mattj79

There's dozens of clones on the market. But the absolute closest thing you can get is the Wattson Superfuzz, which has the same style housing, although it is black, instead of grey.

  • @kugelspot Thanks, just had a look and the Wattson isn't cheap. But the Leeds Fuzz DIY clone looks promising so I might give that a go.

  • nice gear dude. Even better that you know how to use it. Good demo, thanks

  • @Skyuss666 I know about doom, what I meant was MOST metal, that's what I should've said

  • Awsome sound goin' down.

  • Badass pedal, nice licks man!!

  • Badass pedal, nice licks man!!

  • i own a wattson clone...identical tone, half the price!

  • How are you jack? Nice pedal dude!

  • How about find the red 70's version and do a shootout between the two?

  • Build Your Own Clone offers a clone of the pedal called the "Leeds Fuzz". Sounds exactly the same. Although that Univox sounds damn good... DAMN good!

  • godamn! that thing rips! id say its just about as good as the interfax hp1

  • wattson classics electronics makes a clone of this pedal

  • You should get the new Wattson Classic Superfuzz and compare it to this Univox Superfuzz....

  • Jack Black?

  • Where is KG?

  • digging that sound man, but cant find it anywhere, is there maybe a similair effect?

  • godammn! no wonder they are hard to find! anyone who got one must love theirs to death.

  • fuckin shit dude, that rocks

  • Holly fuuck!

  • This pedal impressed me. It seemed to have as much or more heart, guts n soul as anything else out there. I was actually amazed.from all the different tones and how fairly versatile it was. Im thinkin the dude stumbled into a pawn shop and found it...yea brother re-wire n solder that thing b4 u become a Tesla expiriment. bzzzzzzzzzzzt!!!

  • GAWD I love Dokken. Song at the end is

    The Hunter

  • This looks like a sixties one

  • wattson electronics make a clone of this

  • and a hell of a clone its great!!!

  • It's got to be Jack Black. Noone else sounds like that...

  • Definitely Jack Black imho.

  • So do I want to really spend 1000 thousand dollars on a minty version of this? Ummmmmmmmmm YES I DO!!!! Then I will go out and buy all of the clones hahaha!

  • BYOC makes a clone of this

  • this does sound like jack black i bet it is

  • Comment removed

  • it really seems to be Jack Black...

  • does anyone know if this univox superfuzz is the same as the one in the orange-blue casing? sound wise? thanks!!

  • Ahhh....that's some good fuzz!

  • BYOC Leeds Fuzz, Voodoo labs DOES NOT, it is based on the Jordan Bosstone pedal, Wattson Classic Fuzz, Risining Sun, Black Cat.

  • I think GMD should demo the voodoo lab superfuzz.. would love to see that!

  • voodoo lab, wattson classic, and MJM clones this bad boy.

  • Best. Fuzz. Yet.

  • Is this Jack Black?

  • He's rumored to be. Sounds suspiciously like him, and he seems to have a lot of money to be spend on gear... but no one really knows.

  • What the FUCK... I didn't think it would sound that great, but HOLY SHIT.

  • MIne needs a label!!! Seed it to me brother!!!

  • Suck it metalheads that sound is the SHIT!

  • @Ilovemyfender2 OOPS! I voted this down by mistake. Someone please vote it up! :)

  • @Ilovemyfender2 i am a huge metal head, my favorite bands are Metallica and Pantera, so i would consider myself a metal-head, and i love fuzz

  • @Ilovemyfender2 Don't know why you have to single out metalheads, I'm typically considered a metalhead and I too like the tone I am hearing.

  • @Ilovemyfender2 , I am called a metalhead, and I happen to love fuzzpedals.

Keep your narrow mind to yourself please

  • @Antilevitation I was not introduced to doom when i made that comment. Forgive me.

  • @Ilovemyfender2 Despite being a metalhead myself, I agree. Can't beat a good 'ol fuzz.

  • @tertiumsquid Likewise!

  • Awesome, I just built a clone up on a breadboard and had to come online to hear some originals because it sounded so awesomely insane. I wanted to make sure my circuit was correct. It is. The originals used germanium diodes and I'm going to add a switch to switch between germanium diodes and LED's (or silicon) for some other crazyness.

  • Get some (teslanol oszillin t6)

    or the switch!

  • SkinKontrol Make the most accurate clone of the 1969 superfuzz....it contains all original parts and even the circuit board has been made from a rubbing from the original........the only draw back is it doesnt look like a superfuzz...but who cares

  • "Anyone know who makes a clone of this?"

Theres tons. Just search Youtube, you'll find plenty.

  • BUILD YOUR OWN CLONE! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    BYOC is tha shit

  • god that's guttural, moldy, relentless, fuzz!

  • Mouthwatering..... Aaaahahhhhhh yes.

  • bitching

  • I had this pedal in the 70`s and it was exactly the same box and controls except for the name, mine was labeled as "Apollo" in silver/black letters on a rectangle emblem spent most of the time going back and forth on the side switch as a kid playing Sabbath songs with it into a silver face Deluxe Reverb.Hows that for nostalgia? Wish I still had it. both of em

  • nice shoes. The only problem with this pedal is the fact that you can't find any.

  • mjm china fuzz is a clone off this and is smaller

  • i think the guy recording sounds like jack black

  • it is

  • seriously?

  • uhuh

    lol

  • how do you know?

  • Its not Jack Black....its some badass guy with loads of gear.I found his other pag a while back.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 pretty much all of his viewers say that...

  • @ledZeppelin7680 I think you're the first person to notice that!

  • @ThePowrWithn go home.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 I'm at home right now, why?

  • @ThePowrWithn no, go home. go home now or I'll cut your lips.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 I don't have any lips to cut. I lost them in a nasty cheese grating accident 20 years ago.

  • @ThePowrWithn wow... if you would have read section 113 of the hans loomis Company code of cunduct, you would realize that in the event that an officer of the company threatens to cut someones lips and they reveal they don't have any lips, the officer will then equip his standard hans loomis company combat knife and procceed to cut the subjects ass cheeks. you lose limp lip.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 I havn't worked for the Hans Loomis company for years, they let me go. I wasn't able to focus on my work, or anything really....ever since the storm....

That being said, I lost my employee handbook, including the code of conduct otherwise I would have adhered to them.

  • @ThePowrWithn yeah nice try, we all know that you have to defeat cannibal johnson in a flute playing contest to be part of the hans loomis company, and how are you going to do that with no lips? if the hans loomis company finds out that you've been posing as a former employee, your whole family will have blisters from all the hans loomis company combat knives thrusting into their ass cheeks.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 I lost the lips 20 years ago, I defeated Cannibal Johnson 21 years ago, with a stirring rendition of "Ebony and Ivory". Thank you for forcing me to relive these memories, I'd rather be stabbed.

  • @ThePowrWithn cannibal johnson didn't complete his cave adventures until 1987. he began taking floot lessons in 1989 and completed them in 1992, therefore you couldn't have competed against cannibal johnson until he was recruited by the hans loomis company in 1994. you'd rather be stabbed? well that's a shame because you won't be stabbed, YOU'LL BE SLASHED!!!!........ IN THE ASS CHEEKS!!

  • @ledZeppelin7680 My word! I think I have discovered the source of our dispute. This whole time I thought we were talking about Hannibal Johnston! I've never even heard of this Cannibal character. Well shoot, I believe my entire Han Loomis career was nothing but a sham. Now I don't expect you to find me exempt from any sort of consequence, as justice is justice, but as I prepare my cheeks for an enthusiastic slashing, I ask that you consider leniency.

  • @ThePowrWithn wow you've never even heard of cannibal johnson, I think that's deserving of an ass slashing. he didn't spend ten days making a weapon out of the bones of raiders, and fight his way through a stinky cave full of geckos just so some asshole could crush his dreams and ignore his entire existence. you..... SHALL BE SLASHED!

  • A perubian company are making some high output kick ass fuzztone.

    You should check them out:

    silverbox black label

  • SWEEEEEET Review my man! Sounds JUST LIKE my Wattson SuperFuzz!!

  • great video. Gearmandude, the clone to pick up would be the wattson superfuzz. That is a must demo! rock on!

  • awesome shoes dude O_O

  • Man, that's a badass sound when he flicks a switch at 3:02

  • That's a bad ass fuzz !!!

What kind of transistors is in it?

  • oh porco dio ! Need that f*** pedal !!!

  • I NEEEEED ONE!!!!!!!!!

dude when you flipped that switch or whatever i was knoked out

  • Where's KG?

  • he needs to review the Superfuzz with a Big Muff

  • hahaha it does sound like jack black.....

  • because he is lol, he has to be
