Superb video! I'm a Belgian member of two British train sites: "Railway world tv" where I am the admin for the group "Railways worldwide" and "Steam Tube"Could I put this wonderful realisation upon these two sites please? I will certainly mention my source!!
The line was not shut down by Beeching but by Norfolk County Council. One would think that the couple who live in the Station at Heacham instead of giving you eroneous information.
Avery well put together documentary, such a sad subject though !! This was a period in my life, when all around me railway routes were being taken away.To this day I still think it was sheer folly. So many beatiful lines taken away, because of the same old reason/s PROFIT.
At one time the LNER had plans to electrify the line to Hunstanton. With wires to Lings Lynn now, if the line reopened, it could reopen as an electric railway as envisaged by the LNER.
I am dabbing my eyes with tissue. I lived in Hunstanton in the early 60's and took a train to see my Gran in London every few weekends. Some part of me is still on these trains, going through Wolverton and Snettisham...and on to KL to change trains to Charing Cross. Thank you so much, this is just beautiful.
@petethegas As a child I lived in Peterborough and used to travel this line for our summer holidays. I loved it! It was the start of a great adventure for me. Now I live in Mississippi in the USA, but this brings a tear to my eye for sure.
As a train driver from Leeds, this DVD is brilliant, we could go on about the railways for years, but in parliment they just don't listen, when they shut this line, what have they achieved ? the stations, platforms and some signalboxes are still here ! like I said to Prestcott once, either put some of it back, or tarmac the lot....to see this (film)is a joke, either tarmac it or put the rails back, not leave it half done....has for the documentary, 100% brilliant.....
This is just brilliant. Well done ! Fascinating and informative. I would love to know if it is possible to get this on DVD or if there is more about KL. Well done !!!
i got the archive footage from the video archive in norwich, and i got the photos from people around the area. i dont have any copies to hand anymore as i had to hand them in with my work at college but when i remake this film to an hours length i shall get other copies so ask again in a bout a year :) xxx
I am originally from Peterborough and travelled this line many times in the 50's & 60`s. Wonderful memories. I now live in Memphis Tennessee and seeing this brings it all back. Thank you so much!

Very well edited and produced! Thanks so much. I was stationed at RAF Bircham Newton in 1958 and arrived at Heacham by train. Later, my girl friewnd's dad was signalman/porter/ticket collector at Snettisham station. Great memories of fifty years ago.
