The scenario is interesting science fiction, nothing else! The idea that the president of the Unites States would enter a UFO, which could be hostile, and his security would allow him to be out of sight for so long, is just bunkum,. I wish it was true but it just flies in the face of everything we know about security and how the government works...

It's virtually impossible for a falling object to "almost exceed the speed of sound" UNLESS 'it' was trying like hell to do so by streamlining itself as much as possible. The world's record for free-fall speed is 143 m/s. That's approximately 320 mph.

But from their height...maybe.

The average speed of an object in free-fall is around 220 mph.

1 m/s = 2.2369363 mph = 3.6 km/h. So 55 m/s = 2.24 * 55 mph = 123 mph = 3.6 * 55 km/h = 198 km/h.
