  • This is the better cover ever.

  • The best version of this song is by the danish artist Peter Belli ;) i think :)

  • In MY opinion.. this is the best remix of the song. Jeeeeeeeeeeez

  • im fairly certain i just shart my pants. bloody good job!

  • If everyone wants to know this song is a sixtieth century English folk song about a Soho brothel and was taken to America and was adapted to the new Orleans setting, therefore has no original writer.

  • @AliKatt7 sixtieth century? we're only in the twenty first. mean sixteenth?

  • I am cringing.

  • Truth is that only a very small handful of people actually know who wrote this song, and god.. I know im one

  • @owainsworld so... who wrote it

  • @owainsworld Relecturing Burton

  • Comment removed

  • This cover is awesome, but the verse seems to full of instruments. The verse shouldn't be like that, only the chorus.

  • @vikratos It's Muse

  • bullshit

  • @PLkurwa Go fuck yourself.

  • Matts vocals are really stretched to screaming a little on some words but it still sounds absolutely fantastic and the minor screaming is really awesome! I appreciate all covers of this song. Each interpretation of it has a different feel behind it and Muse nailed this into an eargasm for me.

  • nad THAT'S why are MUSE so amazing! this song shows everything!

  • It's an old folk song from the US. Nobody knows who wrote it. The Animals did one of the first covers.

  • The Animals you idiots, The Animals wrote this song. Do your homework.

  • @Flabergastery no...

  • @Flabergastery Nope. It was an american folk song. Do your own fucking homework.

  • @KingArmag Yep old American folk song. Some claim it's actually much older than that and was based on an old 16th-century English folk song. Al.s we know for sure is nobody knows who wrote it.

  • @acebongboy new orleans didn't even exist in the 16th century.... it was founded in 1718... so that's the 18th century

  • @AmusingErin Yes, but the tune could predate the founding of New Orleans, so it's possible, as some experts contend, that the House of the Rising Sun, which has been knocking around America for a long time, was based on a 16th century English song. Like the anthem of the U.S. 'The Star Spangled Banner', whose tune comes from an old English drinking song. Or the American patriotic song 'My Country, Tis of Thee' which the English would recognize as their national anthem, 'God Save the Queen.'

  • @AmusingErin haha ....it seems alot forget about that part

  • SInging this in class today when everyone was slient. That is how i roll :)

  • Just one word: ORGASM.

  • i like it but its missing that sorrt of bluesiness that the animals version has..

  • has anyone ever heard of throwing muses

  • REPEAT!

  • Comment removed

  • Animals perfected the song.

    Muse just interpreted it differantly.

Both songs are good, get the fuck over it and stop bitching.

    ;D

  • soooo Industrial this song!!

  • OMG is this amazing!

  • i´d wish Matt Bellamy could sing that way in more songs.... of him :( heartbreaking voice!!!! :D anyway im a huge fan of MUSE <3

  • why the 169 dislikes? haters need to stop hatin on muse

  • @bannedfromutube1

Well, then it sucks those dicks pretty well i guess ;)

  • Well mothers tell your children

Not to do what they have done

Sing a song of sin and misery

Called the House of the Rising Sun

  • i love muse, i love the way their music is, if you listen closely you can hear that their music is way different than anything else XD

  • mainly a vocals band MEH :\

  • 0:05 muse goes hardstyle? lol

  • muse, forever ! <3

  • good song.

  • @sunsun410 i know what good music is... wanna listen again?

  • @sunsun410 this isnt hate mail dont worry, but define 'good' music

  • THIS. IS. FUCKING. BRILLIANT. MUSEGASMS.

  • This broke my cerebelum. this SONG SUCKS! I LIKE THE ANIMALS

  • @HalestormMarz97 hheehee its funny cause you suck

  • @lala12345ification High five dude ;)

  • @HalestormMarz97 If you don't like it then dont listen to it. There is no reason to post hate mail though. And if you are one of the people who think the Animals or the Doors wrote the song, they didn't. It has been a folk sun ever since before they were born.

  • holy shizz!! this is the best cover of a classic 60's tune since Emiliana Torrini covered Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit." matty belamy, i tip my hat to you sir. well played ;).

  • This(slimed down) followed by Time is Running out at Leeds 2011......one of my favourite moments to date

  • the house of the rising sun, only the instrumental, was a popular irish song written in 1867.

in 60s the animals put the words in the song , but they weren't the first writer.

  • There is no original of this song, it has been recorded by many artists since the 30's. Nobody knows who wrote it 'originally' but other artists have added/changed words/chords along the way. I'm not too fussed to be honest, I just love it in most of its forms.

  • @BongoBandito Yeah, would have been nice to hear the very original version though. Did you know it was originally about a whore house in England? :D

  • Comment removed

  • @BongoBandito Its bob dylans originally

  • @hamedbbb no. no it isn't. there are recordings of this song from way before dylan.

  • @dharpify1 but this version of song is bob dylans.dylan made it like this

  • @hamedbbb No it's not.

  • Not a big fan of it not gonna lie. Not flicking shit to Muse but I gotta love the original better. To each their own right? Lol

  • this cover is just great, penetrates into the inside

  • Big fan of the original , big fan of this. Epic .

  • @lewism991 ---I almost didn't recognize Matt's voice......I like this too. Sometimes covers can put a whole new twist on a song---i almost wasn't sure this was Muse!

  • This is great cover !!!

  • @jhasxvd

You know... I'm not gonna argue... I'm going to point out one fact. You are too young to understand the artistic view of music. And if you don't like this song, SO BE IT. DON'T LISTEN TO IT.

    And leave us fans alone.

  • Well, It's not bad but I'd DEFINITELY prefer Bob Dylans version much better

  • @jhasxvd Grammar aside: It's Muse, not "The Muse". It's a FOLK song, not BLUES. It is alternative rock, not screamo.

So yeah, your taste in music is clearly supreme. I mean, you "MET GREGG ALLMAN WHEN [you] TURNED 14". How could we doubt you?

And I just can't stop laughing at the hypocrisy pointed out by @shuzdawg

  • I'm guessing everyone who disliked this video is an Animal's fan? Just a guess. They're too loyal to know TRUE mastery when they hear it :)

    MUSE

  • Best. Cover. Ever.

  • Cool, I think the best cover

  • Goosebumps

  • frijid pink did better.

  • that's what i call MUSE-ic :)

  • @PaugeStick OH GOD thats the cheesiest thing ive ever heard...

I think theres one on EVERY SINGLE muse song..haha

  • Part at @0:20 reminds me of Bliss. Is it just me??

  • @BalayleeNails nope

  • @KillaTaco94 Cool

  • @BalayleeNails ahaha yeeah - does sound a bit like Bliss. Both good songs xD

  • This cover sucks, i like Muse but seriously ?

  • le cambiaría la intro, lo demás está bien

  • THIS IS NO COVER!!!! they literally turned chuck norris music into the muzic of the gods

  • @musegravemind Screw you, not funny

  • ANIMALS SING IT BETTTEEERRR :D

  • Lovin´ it! Greetings from Finland!

  • @jhasxvd "btw cussing and writing in all caps doesnt make you intimidating it makes you seem like a uncontrollable raging lunatic actually more of wimp, yeah thats the word. Wimp."

Good to know what you think of yourself, then...

" DON'T EVEN FUCKING INSULT MY TASTE OF MUSIC I MET GREGG ALLMAN WHEN I TURNED 14 AND PROMISED I WOULD NEVER EVER STOP LISTENING TO REAL MUSIC REAL CLASSIC ROCK SO DONT EVER INSULT MY FUCKING TASTE IN MUSIC"

    Just sayin'.

    Lame ass.

  • I love Muse but WTF!!??!!? It's making my teeth itch!!!

  • @ravemama69 Itching teeth? That's Muse's thing. Their music hasn't always been as, uh, "nice" as the last two albums.

  • Muse is muse, they will bring any song back... and it will be damn good!

  • I love this song. Muse brought it back they way they saw the song in their eyes which is good enough for me.!!

  • Muse did not kill the animals cover guys, they merely put a new spin on it. I personally perfer the animals cover of it, but its about peoples taste in music. don't talk trash about how 'bad' muse plays it. Everyone has a different way to sing and play it. And whoever says this is screamo, obviously does not know what music is... that is all, now can we all shut up about which is better and actually GO to which cover we like the best and listen to it? thank you :p

  • god damn..what the fuck is this shit?

  • @STJIMMYCMDOWN epic?

  • I think we all know this is win.

    And that is that.

Now what happened to them 162 peeps.

Maybe somebody killed them as they were about to click the like button.

  • FUCKING AWESOME

  • @jhasxvd ALL CAPS LIKE A BAWHS

  • @jhasxvd hey man its youtube. Calm down spaz

  • Ruining a classic American folk song.

  • @chipmunkjohn they cant ruin a damn song by playing it themselves with a different style, beat, intrument or whatever. Even if they are bad musicians in your opinion, it doesn't mean if they try and play an old american folk song, they ruin it entirely. Listen to old music if you want the good stuff you're looking for.

  • What,....this is f*cking awsome!!

  • @jhasxvd u are soooo retarded hahahhahahahahhahahahahahaha hold on cant stop laughing hahahhahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • This is in my opinion the best rendition of this song. I say that and not cover because NOBODY KNOWS WHO WROTE IT.

  • Guys,

I like The Animals and Muse.

I love both versions of the song.

    However,

The Animals did NOT write this song.

    They popularized it, sure.

House of the Rising Sun is an American folk song.

Stop your bickering you old women!

  • @TheManofIdentity youre right i have heard it on the radio, i have heard all of the versions. i believe the original was country genre

  • @TheManofIdentity

THAK YOU SOMEONE ELSE KNOW THAT THE ANIMALS JUST DID A COVER

  • @TheManofIdentity It might not even be an American folk song!

  • @XR4turbo

    Explain yourself!

  • @TheManofIdentity I remember ,Dylan has write this song

  • @Gianka1992 *had

  • The original is by The animals but by far this is the best remake

  • @sk8terboy118 The animals didn't write the original. House of the Rising Sun is an old traditional folk piece. Musicologists think that it was first played by English settlers in the USA ( where it picked up the New Orleans theme) so yeah, no one knows who really wrote it.

  • this song is pure awesomeness and i hope they play this at lolla

  • This is terrible..... Sounds the same as the original just with too many effects and loud noisy drums

  • bands like this should be headlining Reading on a Sunday night

  • @jhasxvd Dude. your almost as bad as the people who say Muse is exactly like Radiohead. Nothing about muse or anything they have ever done is relative to screamo in anyway, nor is this song a bad cover. and for you to say you have better taste than this crap is probably way off based by the fact that you probably listen to justin beiber 24/7 and jackoff to selena gomez at night. im sorry sir, but you are very sorely mistaken and i am pointing this out to you in a kind way, not angry or agitated

  • this is way too short, I could listen to this my whole life <3

  • I read a comment.."ruined a masterpiece"..

    Fuck you this is beautiful.

  • yes baby

  • arruinaron la misica..tiene buena voz pero los "arreglos" que le hicieron son asco....

  • 157 PPL LISTENED TO THEIR MOTHER AND DIDNT DO WHAT I HAVE DONE.

  • ruined a masterpiece

  • @jhasxvd Also *Muse, not The Muse

  • @jhasxvd How the fuck is this screamo? This is alternative hard rock. And I also agree with the person who said that the version at Glastonbury was better. This is still a great cover though. Better if you listen to it on iTunes or a similar player with a good equalizer setting and on a great sound system instead of crappy speakers or headphones, though.

And "raped and molested" it? YES BECAUSE YOU CAN TOTALLY COMPARE A COVER YOU DON'T LIKE TO SEXUAL RAVAGING. You. Fucking. Idiot.

  • @jhasxvd ? screemo? Kid go learn you genres. Anyways the did a MUCH better version at glastonbury 2010, look it up, i LOOOOVED it,better than this 1 deffiantley

  • this isnt as good as the Animals

  • @1jeppe123 leadbelly

  • what album would this be on if it was on itunes?

  • @StealthSniper405 chuck norris's playlist

  • YMMV... I like muse, I love The House of the Rising Sun. However, I prefer the Animals version of it a little more than this. I mean, this is good, but I like the simplicity of the older version. For me, when you make a video or songs music simple, it makes it easier to listen to the lyrics. It compliments the lyrics. This is so cluttered with notes that it's hard for me to get into it the same way I would the other version. Good song though.

  • @dunespeak My thoughts exactly. This song is about pain and misery and you don't get that with this version. The background music doesn't compliment this song at all. I think his voice sounds beautiful in this song but the background music kills it for me. Normally I'm a huge Muse fan but I think I need to go listen to the Animals version. That version speaks to my soul

  • The best version of this song I`ve ever heard !!

  • @1jeppe123 yes, I know I just read that yesterday...but this make the song more mysterious and more great!!

  • <3<3<3

  • I bet you know that this is an Animal's song...and I don't say it because I dislike MUSE ..they are my favourite band.....but I'm just saying that this song doesn't belong to them.. but the made a great performance!!!

  • @Allenx117 It's not on any of their albums. It's just one of the twenty-some other albumless songs that Muse has done.

  • Warning if using headphones, make sure your volume is low. This song is LOUD!

  • pure devine music ♥

  • What album or EP is this from? if from any

  • Muse KNOWS how to fuck songs they cover.

  • @lucasdolis lol

  • Favourite version by far -.-

  • I love the head banging guitar during the first 20 seconds.

  • This is good, but In my opinion, its not as good as the Animals version. I know alot of people like this style, but I don't like the way they play it. It sounds as if they're just hitting the guitar strings rather than picking out the notes etc.

  • AMFG, FFS THIS IS A FOLK TUNE. NOBODY KNOWS WHO WROTE IT; NOT THE ANIMALS NOR BOB DYLAN. jeeeeeesasss. -_-

  • @safte4 Caps Lock is a great way to get your message across, eh?

  • @safte4 Leadbelly wrote it.

  • @mclovin9535 Didn't write it, just sung it

  • The Animals?

    Give cred pleas

  • @SuperMcMuffinman THEY DID NOT WRITE IT. jeesas.

  • as 1101st person to like this i say 'poo poo' to the 153 who don't

  • The Doors have ended with Kill 'Em All...

  • sounds like a space shuttle landing

  • After the "Doors" version this XXI century version is amazing

  • I really don't recommend having iPod head phones full at the begging it hurts.

  • @luke54055

    i did have

  • This is simply incredible!

  • This song is Amazing!

  • is this muse? o.O

  • @TheGhostwolf14 Um, YES.

  • Feeling Good is on Origin of Symmetry.

  • this has just taken the song to a completely new level.

  • So good.

  • On what album is this song?

  • @tittenquest i dont think muse put covers in albums to be fair or something. Feeling good isnt in any albums i have.. hope this helped lol.. it will probably be on spotify n stuff though

  • @brainblue2 Feeling good is on Origin of Symmetry I think.

  • @brainblue2 Feeling Good was in OOS but that was a really good cover... It even won Best Cover of All Time

  • This kicks the Animals' versions ass!

  • Oh shit .. I should be doing homework

  • @tombo9142

    Me too LoL
