Clint Walker towering over Dan Blocker

I dont think so. Walker himself admitted that he weighed only 235 in his best condition. He just LOOKED heavier. I ve seen him in a movie with james arness and arness had a good 2, 3 inches on him. Arness was a real 6'6 6'7 man.

Arness has a bum knee from WWII and quips that he is 6'7" one one side and 6'6" on the other. Walker's height is a matter of record. 235 was his weight in his twenties, before he filled out.

They say that clint walker was measured in his prime at 6'4 1/2 with a 48 inch chest, a 19 inch arm and 32 waist. Him being 6'6 is merely hollywood hype.

@sdjklsdjksdjklf Watch a clip of Clint Walker standing next to Jim Brown in the "Dirty Dozen". It's the General impersonation scene with Donald Sutherland. Walker looks like he is 4 to 5 inches taller than Jim Brown and maybe 30 + pounds heaver. Jim Brown was officially listed at 6'2 , 232 pounds and Walker looks like a giant next to Brown. 6'6 + is a very realistic height for Walker. No hype at all.

Clint Walker was 6'7" and Dan Blocker was 6'3" which is only a 4" difference. From the the angle this scene was shot at, it makes it look like a lot more than 4". Pretty much the same way they shot all those angles intentionally in "The Green Mile" to make Michael Clarke Duncan look so much bigger than everyone else. David Morse was actually a bigger man.

I totally agree that Clint's height is enhanced by the camera angle. I have the entire show with Dan and Clint. I just think it was remarkable how much larger Clint was. In another episode they put 8" box lifts on one co-star's shoes so he would look closer to Clint's height. There is a behind the scenes picture of that on the internet.  They added seven inches to Michale Duncan in The Green Mile. They said they wanted to make him appear 7 feet tall. Thank you for your comment.

I had heard all sorts of height measurements for Clint so I looked at all his movies and shows with other tall actors. Don Magowen 6'6", Andrew Duggan 6'5", Leo Gordon 6'2", George Kennedy 6'3", Ron Ely 6'4". There are many more. Clint is taller than all but Don Magowan. Don was 6'6" and hired because they were the same height. Clint was on a radio talk show last summer. When asked about his height, He said that his height is 6'5 and 3/4".

I have only ever heard the most wonderful things about Dan Blocker. His death was a great loss. He was just branching out into other acting endeavors. Lorne Green used to say that big men used to try to fight with Dan to prove they were tough. Dan usually found a way to defuse the situation.

Hi! Dan Blocker was 6' 3" inches tall. Clint was billed at 6' 6' but people who knew him said he was closer to 6' 7". He was very self-conscious about his height. It kept him out of many movies because he was considered to tall. It all started with the Ten Commandments. He was to tall for the original part DeMille gave him. He ended up with a non-speaking role. DeMille said Clint made everybody else look like stumps. His shoulder to waist ratio also makes him appear larger than life.

@paldrich1 / I remember watching each episode of "Cheyenne" when I was a kid. He was my favorite Western hero and I wanted to grow as tall as Clint Walker. Didn't quite make it. I peaked out at 5'9" and missed the mark by about ten inches. Oh well, life is full of little disappointments.

He is also a wonderful person. The true gentle giant. If you purchase year one of the Cheyenne show on DVD it includes a very nice segment of him at age 79 talking about his life and how he got started in show business. Reruns of Cheyenne are currently playing on the encore channel 5 O'clock eastern time every week day. He was my childhood hero to !!
