Though no one can replace Sean Connery as a true James Bond, George Lazenby was very good in this movie . It would have made a great series for TV! Though I like Roger Moore as an actor playing The Saint, I really think Eric Breaden would have made a GREAT JAMES BOND during Connery's absence to the role! He's the only other actor that has the Sean Connery quality . The two have similarities that are unmatched!
i REMEMBER WHEN THIS MOVIE CAME OUT . A FANTASTICK FILM, DIANA RIGG IS A VERY CLASSY WOMAN AND WONDERFUL ACTRESS. tHIS VIDEO TOUCHES ME DEEPLY AND BRINGS BACK GREAT MEMORIES!
Nicht der Beste... aber George hat uns einen fantastischen Bond geschenkt... und er hatte Diana Rigg. Das Titelthema ist ein Killer und "We have all the Time in the World" (hier instrumental) ein Traum! Vielen Dank
Diana Rigg is absolutely sensational in this movie!!! How in the world 'lazy bee' got to fill Bond's shoes, I will never know. Connery and Rigg would've made this the most unforgettable Bond movie ever.
lazenby rocked.....his ego and his mgrs poor decisions nixed him....sad because he was tough as nails.....unlike girly man Roger Moore.......go figure.
oh man....great video.....too short....this captured the heart of the movie....well done...........lazenby rocked... the modern day Craig........please add more to this
Lazenby and his agent apparently assumed that the Bond series would die in the 70s and that's why he refused making any more movies. He made a bad mistake and I'm very sad for it because he could've gone on to become the greatest Bond ever.
Sure, he was a bit stiff, but it was the first movie he ever did and considering that he was awesome as Bond. Lazenby and Rigg will always be my favourite pair of the series.
Nice video and accompanying music. I really like the Louis Armstrong version, perhaps one of the better Bond themes--although many of them are beyond excellent.
Lanzenby had his chance to do more Bond films, but he did not want to sign for more than one more film. Diana Rigg was always splendid looking and love hr on the old Avengers T.V. series.
That was just an inside joke D R was refering to when she said she ate onions before she was going to do a love scene with G L. She said that to him on the set just to tease him. There were rumors after she said that and everyone thought her and GL couldn't stand each other, but that wasn't true. She was just teasing him to be funny, because they were about to do a love scene. I read it somewhere on one of her interviews. lol.
George Lazenby says "THANK U SO MUCH Ronan O'Rahilly(AGENT) FOR CONVINCIING ME TO LEAVE THE BOND SERIES in 1969 BECAUSE THE POPULARITY OF 007 FRANCHISE WOULD NOT CONTINUE!!!...."THANK U SO MUCH RONAN 4 ENDING MY MOVIE CAREER!"...YOU C.U.N.T!...WTF
Great movie! Scene where escaping Bond tries to call "M" from small village - SPECTRE opens fire on phone booth - Tracy screams "Jaaaaammmes!!!!" - the great OHMSS theme starts while she lays rubber to rescue him ... and I am hooked all over again!! What a great, romantic movie showing the best in all actors. Telly is great as Blofeld as well. Love this movie. Thanx for posting.
As great as Sean was as Bond I don't think he could have played the vulnerability needed for the barn scene. Connery was too tough and cold to be as tender in those scenes. I think for this particular story Lazenby was the right choice.
Absolutely agreed - Sean would have no idea how to deal with this as Bond (not taking away anything from his as an actor) but George played this role so well. I cried at the end as a child and still do as an adult. It is stunning. Sad to think that George didn't do anymore as Bond (and we all know the reasons why). This film stands out as an amazing Bond film, if not the best.
There's also a moment when Bond escape's from Blofeld's chalet and by his henchmen on skis. He goes to hide in the middle of a crowded ice rink with Blofeld's goons trying to find him. Bond looks like he's at the end of his rope and then suddenly Tracy shows up like an angel. I can't picture Connery's Bond look as defeated as Lazenby did.
This is EASILY my favorite Bond film. It was a very close adaptation of the novel, it has a TERRIFIC action centerpiece in the ski chase down Piz Gloria, and John Barry's soundtrack is a masterpiece.
This is truly a wonderful memory. This is my favorite Bond film although I liked all the Sean Connery ones. I saw this in Dec. of 1969 with my first love, my Tracy. I can't believe 40 years have gone by. Great Bond film!
Yes, this was a criminally underrated Bond movie. Because this was very close the spirit of the original Bond story. The Connery Bonds were good but they base a bit too much on Sean´s charisma.
On Her Majesty´s Secret Service was so different. Beautiful music score and the very unusual sad end. First it might be very strange but it´s like life. The death collects the whole story in the eternity and makes you watch it again and again. Like this movie.
...by the way, LAZENBY WAS offered a second chance!
He was offered a six or seven picture deal to play BOND but he turned the offer down based on very bad advice he received from his agent at the time... : (
@TheHorsenation I agree, that Lazenby was a good Bond. However, it was his own choice, to not play Bond again. His agent talked him out of it. Being new to acting, George listened, when he shouldn't have. Thankfully, we have this one film, with one of the top "Bond Girls" Dame Diana Rigg.
@TheHorsenation Sorry for the late response, but I just saw your comment. It is not entirely accurate when you said it was too bad Lazenby didn't get a second chance. He did, but he was the one who did not want to make another Bond movie. His decision to leave was all his.
Good film, not really a Bond film, music was excellent. Lazenby was extremely bad, but was a good fighter. Timothy Dalton was a billion times better than Lazenby.
That's right. It was one of the most underrated Bond movie ever, and it was due to George Lazenby. But the cast was really good and also the script. Diana Rigg looks gorgeous in this movie.
hmmm yeah she was good :) I suppose I lazenby was alright, but erm I wasn't impressed. He even admitted to being a 'fool' for not accepting a 2nd outing as Bond, and also for having his ego take charge during ohmss, by claiming he was the 'star' when saltzman angered and replied he wasn't until the public said so, and you know no one really accepted him, but the few, i mean box office dropped by half since you only live twice
Of course yes. But why Conner didn't want to play in this movie? I think he was sick and tired to play Bond.. But Sean Connery/Diana Rigg was a perfect duo
To be honest with you mate, I think Mr Great Sean Connery peaked at Goldfinger as his performance as Bond, then wen't downhill after Thunderball. He was fat in you only live twice!! and terrible, he then looked ROUGH in DAF, and Daniel Craig is already 40 just one year below and looks PERFECT!!! Roger Moore joined at 43 and he looked AMAZING!!!
Connery aged way to quickly as a human being, must be in his genes or tough early working life. But it's weird how moore and craig looked great at 40, yet connery looked like he'd been slapped up by a dolphin lol
Well, this movie was shot in 1969 and Conner was 39/40 years old! He was fucking perfect for this role! He could loose weight and get fit for the role. I think Connery was tired of playing Bond after "You live only twice" and he wanted much money to accept the part.
Yeah lol, he even said he wanted to 'kill James Bond' When he signed on for DAF he donated all his earnings (over £1 million, a lot of money back then) to some scottish educational trust. So I dont think money was motivating factor. I think he had other ideas as about what he wanted to do. Craigs the only actor to got into shape for the role *hats off to him*
And a big question I started wondering is.... who do you thinks gonna take over the role of Bond when Craig finishes? and I dont mean to be rude but erm What happens when Michael G. Wilson is gone? Who will Barbara Broccoli team up with to produce the next flicks?
As a child, I wanted to be like George Lazenby bond! The guy has great looks, and looks very sure of himself tributes I wanted to find in myself. The public did not seem to share my opinion. I would see this movie and pretend I was living the adventure.
great job and great movie but awfully sad!
