  • Jamaica is notorious for crime in all shapes and forms. Perhaps severing all trade and banning all tourist travel to Jamaica would help, i'm not sure. This may at least prompt the Jamaican government to offer more severe punishment to these criminals.

  • I thought I'd share my experience as well. It seems they are targeting anyone and everyone. I'm from Canada and I have received 3 phone calls last night, 1 this morning, 4 last week. All coming from an 876 area code, Jamaica. I have never answered the phone, yet they did leave a voice message last week. Strange, it sounded like 2 Jamaican women talking and laughing in the background. My service provider cannot or will not block area codes, so perhaps I need to find a different provider.

  • I'm not a techie but from what I gather a cell phone is trackable and attackable. If drones swooped in on that it would be like fire and brimstone comming down, it's all over for the criminals.

  • I am half Jamaican. U have some good people and A LOT of dishonest people.

The Economic conditions make them that way.

  • @jabmalassie Sorry...there is no such thing as a "half Jamaican" as Jamaican is not a race it a nationality. You may have Jamaican heritage but you cannot be half of a race that does not exist. If my father was American I could not say that Im half American as American is not a race, its a nationality.

  • You know what I mean.

  • @jabmalassie But millions that you are misleading don't.

  • @EvertonBratt

Not misleading but you are misunderstanding. Millions more like 1000s.

It's the way we speak in Canada. Half Italian and half German. Everyone understands what it means.

  • @jabmalassie I know that way you "phrase it" in Canada...and England, etc. And I know that some people use the phrase to mean one of their parent is Jamaican. It does not make the phrasing (or the way you talk) correct.

  • @jabmalassie And being economically disadvantage does not have to tern you into a criminal.

  • @jabmalassie Oh look! I cant spell! what am I going to do with my self

  • Unless you were speaking Jamaican then I don't know what you are talking about.

  • @jabmalassie Wah?

  • Anything taken from the USA by persons in countries victimized by US policies is Legit.

Redistribution of wealth, reparations, restitutions or retributions -AKA, take whats yours.

certainly Minnesotans along with most US citizens have not earned the money through a life of hard, honest and fair work.

  • @metallica lol this dude is iliterate take a view at his comment. lmfao...

  • Pwned

  • PEOPLE WISE UP! IT IS SO OBVIOUS THE PHONE CALLS ARE PHONY! DO NOT BE AFRAID. THOSE FOOLS CAN'T TRAVEL TO THE USA; AND IF THEY DO THEY ARE TOO ILLITERATE TO FIND YOUR ADDRESS (EDUCATED JAMAICANS (LIKE MYSELF) ARE NOT APART OF THIS)............TAKE THIS FROM A JAMAICAN, ONCE YOU'RE NOT FACE TO FACE WITH THEM DO NOT BE AFRAID.........IGNORE THE THREATS!

  • You might not think that these people are stupid for falling for such a scam. call me ignorant, but i do believe, if you fall for such a stupid obvious scam, that always sounds to good to be true, then you are therefore a stupid person.

  • Good video. My mother is still being contacted and scammed. Now they have given her a friend, Lisa Oneal. She claims she's there to help her and take care of the scammers. "They" have a most wanted list for the scammers ! Everyone please call Lisa - 509-398-0643. They are killing my mother - I am going to have to take her money away. She just can't listen (80) years old. CALL LISA - F with her.

  • dutty bloodclaut dem... lmao

  • HOW SCAMMERS GET YOUR NUMBER:

some U.S. companies like insurance companies, phone companies or just a on-line business will hire customer service operators located in international countries like India, Nigeria, Jamaica etc. because its cheaper. So when your talking to a operator you might think they are in the U.S. They ask you for your name and number to verify your call(stand procedures). These operators will then sell your information to the local scammers for a fee....

  • @hotfevers And some times the operators and their families are threatened so the have no choice but to produce theses lists.

  • They'll kill for those phone lists... but are they willing to die... maybe a number suspected of scamming could be gps tracked by a predator drone so they can get a suprize package. Old lady: " oh yess, a special packet is comming to you" scammer: Oh great, I'm soo happy, you send me all your money hehehe oh nooo ahhh //boom//

  • @jaymorpheus1 They are little bit more careful than that in that they use very low tech phones like Nokia 1614.

  • FOXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • The Americans are greedy they think they have the power to step in any country and do what they want. They think they r sub-humans & ppl in other country r just scums. That police man with the CPU do not wnt any evidence he is taking it home.

  • this story is grossly exaggerated to a point it's almost fiction

  • Great news segment, glad minesota are tackling this problem....

If you get a call like this put the phone down immediatley and block their number, call your phone service provider for info on this. Don't sound scared on the phone or they will target u more.... if u put the phone down they won't get chance to threaten u... Jamaican voice = put phone down!

It's sad that the minority doing this will end up giving all Jamaicans a bad name just like how it's happened in Nigeria.

  • jamaicans dont play i tell you

  • @Pubb11 lol

  • the American disease of greed is how this scam works. the age old adage "of it sounds too good to be true..." I had a Nigerian price want to deposit $30 million in my bank account! should I give him my info???

PT Barnum said it best "There is a sucker born every minute"

the only reason the govt will protect is because they take 1/2 of a persons money when they die....inheritance tax. Worse than any Jamaican scammers.

  • can you go to cyprus and austria and get back the money they stole out of my barclays bank account?

  • well done my brothers. ur late though i done this 9years ago lol

  • 876-571-5101

    numerous calls from this number

  • @Mettler2 lol

  • violent is an understatement. My father was going to give them the money until my husband and I stepped in. They then called my husbands phone number many times threatening to kill him. The number is 876-297-3827. What is unusual is that he also got a call from a number in New Jersey (apparently it's a LAN line). The NJ number is 973-855-3171.

  • Minnesota, Texas needs your help bad. Tell somone here in our state what you are doing. PLEASE

  • Greed!, you cannot cheat an honest man.

  • 8768601318

  • lol i hope a scammer calls me i am bored and would love to mess with them

  • If you're bored here's one of the numbers: 876-967-5430

  • (876)-866-0826

    Unleash hell.

  • I just got a call from Jamacia...claimed to be from homeland security and that I needed to "go along and send the money the sweepstake fraud wanted to release the prize"...please people don't do anything like this! In the USA, you must never need to pay for any kind of prize you win!

  • you can`t blame all jamaicans for the actions of a few

  • Very true. But the few (although the vast 876 numbers out there don't sound like a few) sure as hell give the rest a bad name.

  • Damn...whats America's name then?

  • @robsakkze thats just wrong

  • TheNewMusicNetwork, stop it. They guys who did this scam shit sucked, but you are shttfacing everyone as a result of a fringe group--that is bullshit. Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica, like you love them and i respect the Viking, but I cannot accept this hat stuff. Look there is good and bad in every group (even the Ngrians did some sht like this.. some British, Russian, Australian and some Aisans). I am Jamaican man. I respect your position, but chill man "nothing else Matters" -metallica

  • This happens in uk too.

My mothers elderly friend lost about 400k.

She was in the process of buying another home and from sale of previous home put all her money into a dodgy off shore account, nigerian scam it transpired.

She is now homeless and broke aged 76.

Living with her dead beat daughter on a sofa.Very sad.

  • this is the direct result of out of control corporatism in that our current system creates few "affluent" areas in the world and the rest is left desperate. of course there are desperate people with integrity who would never steal from seniors but if there was more even distribution of wealth created from exploited resources this kind of thing would be a lot less common.

  • @RubiconJohn " if there was more even distribution of wealth" Sad you do not understand economics.

  • OMG... me and my mom who's almost 90 have been getting calls from these jerks in Jamaica for about 2 weeks now... saying we've won 3.5 million dollars but we'd have to send them $350 for insurance to receive the money. They won't stop calling.. today, November 2, they called 10 times and threatened to come and shoot us. Had the cops here and reported the incident. Don't what more to do.. gonna call verizon tomorrow and see if I can block Jamaica's 876 area code.

  • How do you figure they got your number to begin with?

  • Like Capitol1, outsourcing their service centers to other countries for "Cheap Labor" and "GREED". We as consumers, have no power to prosecute any of the people that collect our info while working in the service center and then selling our info to these "Crooks". We should now hold the Credit Card Companies Responsible and sue for our losses because of their greed. If they can raise our rates and still have the cheep labor, we should fight back to recover our losses...

  • I feel really bad for the people who have lost money. A large part of the problem i think its the call centres that have outsourced to Jamaica for cheap labour. At these call centres , one is likely to obtain the bulk of the credit card information from the people affected. Now everyone knows , that cops are involved why are they in this clip looking like they are actually doing something ? And for fuck sake Americans listen for the accent! Wise up , do your research. Contact the Police.

  • "these scammers are armed and dangerous, they have have murdered more than 400 hundred people on this small island just to get copies of phone lisst, names of potential victims and their phone #s"

i live in jamaica & i can assure anyone who wants to know that this statement is flakey.i'm appalled.i dont support the scamming but these people need to report accurately

  • You obviously do not live in Montego Bay.....Every DAY...AND I SAY EVERYDAY YOU HEAR OF A SCAM RELATED CRIME!

  • What`s in the drinking water in Minnesota?

  • Raassss... That's Bogue Village, rofl dwl....

  • the venality of the victims is only matched by their idiocy!

  • if you want to find the real culprits find the Nigerians who have been flooding into jamaica illegally , they have been involved in this scam for over ten years, I am sure they must be the ones who brought this dastardy scheme to jamaica. These kind of sinister scheme is foreign to jamaica , this is not us.

  • It is very much Jamaican, I see and hear it every single day.

  • First, there is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for what these criminals are doing!!!! It is wrong, wrong, wrong!!! They need to be caught and punished severely.

Second, make no mistake about it....these 'victims' are GREEDY. Greed clouds their common sense and that's why they are in this mess. They do not deserve to be scammed, but they need to look in the mirror and figure out why they fell for that seemingly transparent scam.

  • Those people that have been scammed is very stupid n money hungry too. They need to stop making Jamaica look bad. These people have been dealing with telemarketing since phones came out so deal with it damn it if u became a target thats ur fault not nybody elses.

  • what year is this?

  • I don't feel sorry for these people , like the saying goes never underestimate another mans greed .

NOTHING FROM NOTHING LEAVES NOTHING IF YOU DID'NT ENTER A LOTTO IN JAMAICA HOW THE FUCK YOU EXPECT TO WIN ANYTHING . THIS IS WHAT WHEN PEOPLE RUN DOWN EASY MONEY . STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wy would u think its ok to send money to get money

  • Say i was born in jamaica and came to live america at age 4 ,shot someone at age 25, where did i learn my criminality? Must have been in jamaica for those first 4 years of my life right!!! Everyday hundreds of people get deported this way,to a place they dont know or maybe dont have any family left. What would you do? This doesnt make Scamming people right im just shedding light on why its going on>Since they failed to report it> watch "life and debt" on youtube!!!

  • people should look into what cause these problem before condemming these people!! People should know about the IMF loans thats basically, leaving tons of jamaicans unemployed!! Watch the the movie " Life and Debt " here on youtube. Then maybe youll understand why these people are doing these crimes!!! Its cause and effect!! Proverty breeds crime>>

  • these people should honestly be given medals and honors for making an effort to return some of the money scammed out of Jamaica by the IMF and other such organizations.

I saw life and Debt -- it was a good documentary.

    hotep.
