May all those passengers and the crew rest in peace, even though it's been 20 years ago from then. I was born in the same year of the plane crash and I live in the province, actually the district where the plane crashed. It's so sad.. but it was an accident and it was not Thai people's faults. We never want any crashes on our land or near our houses. So please understand. The people in the video were speaking Thai, and all I could say is that they were not making fun of the wreckage.
Unbelievable that the wreckage is still at the site of the crash.
I remember that I was flying with this aircraft (OE-LAV) one week before the crash from Vienna to Bangkok. A few days after the accident I have seen in a Thai newspaper a list of the names of the passengers and also crew members and I have recognized that the crew who served us the drinks and meals during our flight to Bangkok died on the return flight to Vienna.
I think the same. There should be money to clean up the site and to put the human remains where they belong. Home ! My deepest feelings are with you. You lost people in the tragedy. That makes me sad. R.I.P. to all the passengers and crew !!
I don´t understand why the aircraft is still there ! So I think that remains of the passengers are also still there. Maybe not the "big" body parts. But just see the big pieces of wreckage. Seems they did not care about the big parts. I got the reasonable suspicion that there a finger or hand for excample could still be there maybe under it...I can´t believe it. That´s realy horrible. It gives me goose bumps. Anyhow the people mourning ´bout their relatives have a "real" place to go.
@Slaterator Your comment makes no sense at all. Just because there is some parts of metal left it doesnt mean that human remains are still there. Probably it has been searched very well and all human remains carried out, but I dont see why they should carry those metal parts out as there would be nothing to use them at.
First of all.. Merry Christmas ! My comment makes sence. On 03 Mar 1974 a Turkish DC-10 crashed into the woods of Ermenonville, 37 km NE of Paris. There were no survivors. 346 people died instantly. Some years ago a friend of mine got out with his dog there. And guess what ? The dog found an arm. Just the bones but there are still remains there. In France !!! So if something like this can happen there I think there is much more left then metal peaces of the aircraft.
@Slaterator Hmm well could be. But at least that shows that it could happen in anywhere, and not Thailand only like some ignorant people suggest here.
There you go. My comment was about the doomed aircraft and not about Thailand. This kind of mess can happen to any country where it is to expensive to recover everything. It is a matter of money. So I guess the dog of my friend would find some new "stuff" there. Very sad. That should not be real. If I were a left one from one of the passengers I would be very angry after seeing this.
Most likely there are no victims anymore at the site of the crash, but I agree with you, that maybe very very small body parts are still there. I was working at this time at Vienna airport and I remember that a few weeks after this accident plenty of coffins with human remains, who have been transported from Bangkok to Vienna, were standing in front of the cargo warehouse, waiting to be distributed to the relatives of the victims. This was really a sad time.
Thats a wee bit harsh - anyhoo....that plane almost broke the sound barrier during its screaming dive after a reverse thruster engaged - broke up before hitting the ground. I luv money too - gimmie yours!
Why did you wrote a bad words to blame Thais. Do you think that Thais did the Laoda Air air crash?!?! If not you can't blame their people especially you wrote "Thai People" that's mean all Thai, nobody happy with the past. So please review your messages. Thais
This was filmed after the accident, so it can't be corpse. However the remains of the plane is still evident, which is a disgrace.
I would have expected all aircraft remains to be removed, otherwise it is a nasty reminder for those living nearby. Personally I wouldn't go near the place, it would be horrific for me.

The reason that Thais left a mess in there because...
1. It's not a Thai plane, it's an Austrian.
2. It's still under control area of the NTSB. They're the ONLY one who can decide which part can be removed and which part MUST stay...
3. There're some case still going on between Thai-Austrian Familys, Boeing and Austrian Airlines Group. It isn't finish yet...

I still remember that crash, where the local villagers arrived to strip the corpses of all their valuable belongings. Not very Buddhist of them.
