  • Why dont I believe this....

  • Whoa! What show was this from? I need to know!

  • This is outdated. Since the Giant SF Bear was discovered, there have been two bears found that are larger.........Ursus maritimus tyrannus (actually thought to be an early brown bear but it is classified as a polar bear subspecies), and Arctotherium angustidens, the largest bear ever to walk the earth.

  • Comment removed

  • @AceofDlamonds Arctotherium is the Giant Short Faced Bear

  • @pussylicker24

the giant South American SFB....the name SFB is a misnomer...

  • @pussylicker24 Arctodus Simus is the Short Faced Bear, Arctotherium is another species

  • @Abominatrix650 Of short faced bears.. lol.. I'm pretty sure I'm right.. Same species just different sub-species of it..

  • @Abominatrix650 no Arctotherium is a sub-species of short faces bear

  • @panicattackman20

Arctotherium is a genus, not a subspecies, let alone a species.

  • @AceofDlamonds Arctotherium angustidens is a genus of the short faced bear

  • @panicattackman20

That's totally incorrect. Arctotherium IS the GENUS. Arctodus (North American form) is it's own genus, ARCTODUS.

  • One of many of gods creatures that lived peacefully along with humans and dinosaurs in the garden of eden a few thousand years ago,i am very concerned young children will see this illogical represnation of these creatures these bears did not attack anything they lived peacefully eating vegdgetibles in the garden of eden not in a thundra taht didnt exist.

  • @JordoF6 * rolls eyes *

  • @JordoF6 I would like to see that bear kill you! You are very stupid! Most creation scientists got their diplomas from diploma mills.

  • @multisnootylives1 dude it was a joke im atheist and im big into evolution and stuff.

  • Indeed, the short-faced bear (Arctodus simus) was big, but he was not the biggest bear of all time. The pleistocene polar bear (Ursus Maritimus Tyrannus) was much larger than the short-faced bear.

  • humans should have evolved from this, not damn dirty apes.

  • what show is it?

  • FUZZ

  • looks like a werebear

  • bear grylls is more dangeuros !

  • Hmmmm, 3.4 meters in height. About 10 feet, 2 inches.

  • @buffet62 sounds like my uncle.

  • WTF!!!!

  • 0:54 it's not a prehistoric bear !!!

    IT"S A GUMMY BEAR!

  • damn you metrics, damn you

  • I'd just pee on it if it tried to eat me. Then I'd slap it silly

  • @1Pantikian I think that actually could work - the smell of urine aimed at the bear's nose should cause it to flip out and run away but then again, I'm no wildlife forensic!

  • my budgie works out twice a day and would comprensively thrash this kids toy

  • fake

  • why does a bear sound like a dragon....and not like a bear

  • @GhostWatcher55

    haha its a dragon bear

  • Ads are lame :(

  • I'm 1,85m tall and I weight 57 kilos. I don't know how many me's would fit into one of these.

  • nothing a. 577 tyrannosaur won't cure

  • Every animal would fear this bear. Every animal. No not the honeybagder.

  • if that was a bear that long ago, imagine how big humans would be x] we would just kick the shit out of it and eat it! LoL

  • @cybershot102 dude that thing is like 900 pounds. if you kill it, it falls on you, you gonna pick it up and throw it to london or you gonna just lie there for another one?

  • did the narrator say horsies?

  • manbearpig A.K.A Pigsy

  • And in South America, the short-faced bears have topped even that, according to recent news!

  • He looks like a bearwolf!

  • cool bear

  • This is america we don't use the metric system

  • @slye1991

Yeah, but National Geographic does not seemed to have picked up that fact.

  • @Tazy50 when we're all extinct we will be the fascinating ones ^_^

  • @Tazy50

maybe because if these epic creatures were still around, there wouldnt be us as well.. you think we'd survive with dinosaurs around?

  • @crossgun yes we would, it would be a difficult life, but we could. With our usage of tools to avoid injuries during fights we could do fine, besides we would have been jacked from whatever we evolved from since it likely would have been much stronger than a gorilla. Of course this is assuming they are as smart as us, not us exactly. a pack of us, jabbing with spears at a fifteen foot T-rex could take it down, and we would adapt to how other animals lived. We survived saber-tooth like animals.

  • @PredominateOne you have a point there.. im also thinking if they werent wiped out from the meteor rain before, its gonna be us to do it. with our technology as of today... it wont take long to eradicate them..

  • @Tazy50 You should be thankfull these creatures went dead, otherwise you wouldnt be here.

  • Comment removed

  • @Tazy50 That's because we're the pic creature of this time, I mean look at us. Too bad the general population is too stupid to look after the planet that gave us life.

  • @Tazy50 Most of the more recent ones, like the Terror Bird, Saber toothed cats, and Cave Bears (and mammoths) were driven to death by humans. So blame us for those ones. And ever heard of Bigfoot? Gigantopithecus may still be with us.

  • Shooting 'ol Zeke there would just make him mad . . .

  • Heck yeah!

  • This is now officially my favorite animal.

  • The bear looks like big foot !!!

  • I like pcp!

  • Who was the predator with whom he had to fight at the end? They didn't show him. Oh yeah and does a giant prehistoric bear shit in the woods?

  • @Zwartekaka Nope he shits on the prairie, teehee :)

  • @Zwartekaka he shits where he likes

  • This must have been in Texas...

  • @N00bcrunch3r I agree with you crunch this North American Bear would of been bigger than the present day African Elephant of today he would of been twice as heavy and twice the length and twice as wide as the African Elephant of today and his weapons of choice would of been more thicker and longer.

  • weres the rest

  • that is totally a fake bear at the beggining

  • @kelmeck

    It's called computer animation!

  • Fuck you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hate it when people say that Dammn nature you scary Stupid.

  • @hgykyggbhy

    Reallly?

  • its sasquatch

  • I've been trying to help PREHISTORIC CHANNEL out. I really want to see them become a tv channel one day. Check them out if you haven;t already. I've kind of taken it upon myself to be an evangelist for them. Want PREHISTORIC CHANNEL to be a reality one day.

  • The word "prehistoric" is just so cool. I love it. I believe Prehistoric Channel will one day rival natgeo and discovery. They're launching this xmas.

  • @prehistoric28 Yeah I can tell you like the word, you've even got it as your name.

  • fuck energizer. just for that lame commercial its duracell from now on

  • i thought this was a roided up gay flintstones

  • pedobear-1st gen

  • what's the name of this documentary

  • @fuckyouyoufuck lier

  • What a retarded video. They weren't *that* big, not much taller and hardly heavier than a large modern brown bear like a kodiak. They weren't super-predators, they were adapted to be effective scavengers, kleptoparasites, capable of intimidating other predators off their kills. What happened NatGeo? You used to not suck.

  • what is that moron doing looking up bear butt???

  • still no match for manbearbig

  • @philyB08 I'm Cereal

    !

  • @philyB08 PIGSY WOULD CHAINSAW IT TO pieces

  • @philyB08 no creature is a match for man bear pig

  • @FiendofDA Cereal?

  • @philyB08 I'm super cereal!

  • Now that's scary.

    It's like a werebear lol

  • @SupernaturalLover67 no a werebear is not that you moron

  • @razor014445673 no shit asshole I wa smaking a joke.

But please, do tell, what exactly is a "werebear", since you seem to know?

  • @SupernaturalLover67 a werebear is half man half bear therefore it is bipedal this is not it is a werebeast there are many like werewolfs , weredogs werecrocs and they all are half man so they are always bipedal this is four footed so this not a werebear

  • is it just me or dose the thing look like a werewolf?

  • @R700Omnicide na a werewolf is not like that werewolfs are 100 different

  • I wish I had a machine that could transfer me back in time and to the future because I really wanna know how it looked like, because these theory's doesn't have everything right...

  • @Nitram916 i would take chuck norris back with me so he could kick some bear-ass

  • i found the bigfoot sightings.

  • just imagine the carnage that would ensue the union of these guys and the bear cavalry.*shudders*

  • If you want to skip the ads, just press F5.

  • I WANT TO SEE GIANT SHORT FACED BEAR VS ALBERTOSAURUS!!! THAT WOULD BE AWSOME!!

  • i always find one problem with evilution that never gets awnsered and i always think about it when i watch these vedios

  • @miiror13 whats yar problem with evolution on this videeee-oh

  • That's the best they could come up with? The Giant Short-Faced Bear?

  • I thought arctodus got big to chase fast running animals and bring down mammoths and mastodons!

  • What show is this from?

  • the worlds largest bear:

12.6 ft from toes to sholder : grizzly wins

    725 kilo's: short face wins by 175kilo's

  • The Bear Body almost same as Human Body only have longer arm

  • Evolution ftw!

  • Holy shit!

    900 kilos= 1980 lbs

    3.4 meters= 11 ' and 1.85 feet

    Faster than a horse?!

    Thats friggin scary.

  • @1989Foxy50\

Actually, those are minimum estimates. Maximum estimates are:

    Weight: 2,200 pounds

    Shoulder Height: 6 feet

    Length: 12 feet

Height on Hind Legs: 13 feet

    Speed: 40 mph

In summary, this guy could take down any predatory dinosaur up to the size of Gallimimus (20 ft. long) if he lived during the age of the dinosaurs. And had he evolved to become a predator rather than a scavenger, (i.e. thicker limbs) he could have taken down a fully grown Mammoth.

  • @N00bcrunch3r I agree with you crunch this North American Bear would of been bigger than the present day African Elephant of today he would of been twice as heavy and twice the length and twice as wide as the African Elephant of today and his weapons of choice would of been more thicker and longer.

  • @AZAGHAL696

I don't think I said it would be able to grow as large as an elephant. However, it could have hunted a fully grown elephant had it had thicker limbs to help it steer better. Or it might have been able to kill it in a head to head fight. Though he would have to be able to climb on the back of an elephant in order to kill it--probably by sinking his 8 inch claws into the shoulders and giving him a couple of good neck bites.

  • Scary . . . !

  • DAMMN NATURE YOU SCARY!!!

  • @oinky101 stop sayin tht its stupid on every video it says tht

  • @oinky101 Hell Yeah!!!!

  • megistotherium will beat the shit out of the short faced bear

it was 4 metre long 1500kgs and 2 metre standing on all fours with 90 cms long head largest ever carnivores mammal on land

  • The megistotherium wasn't engineered for fighting big carnivores like the bear, that's why it was a pack hunter, to avoid confrontation with other big carnivores.. In a fight I would go with the the Bear because it's more deadly in a sense it could use it's paws as a VERY DEADLY striking force & it's jaws could chomp down with more than 2000+ pounds per square inch.. Also, Megistotherium wasn't the largest but on average was.. There is speculation on which was the largest mammalian carnivore.

  • @pussylicker24 - Hyaenodonts (=Megistotherium) were not pack hunters, they had small brains that would not suit that lifestyle. Recent research suggests that the short faced bear was actually an omnivore that lived much like today's grizzly bear.

  • @EoceneRoxton Well that's been speculated for a very long time.. Some say the Giant Short Faced Bear was hyper carnivorous and others say an omnivore.. Either way it was a carnivore and one of the most fearsome/strongest/largest mammalian predators to ever walk the planet.. As far as Megistotherium, I don't know much about them, but I have always seen pictures of more than one together so I put 2 and 2 together..

  • @pussylicker24 dude take arctodus simus and megistotherium penis inside u

  • @sscaero15 ??

  • @pussylicker24 i said take arctodus simus and megistotherium penis inside u

either learn to read or fuck off from youtube

  • @sscaero15

Really? The estimates I saw put him with a body length around 3.5 meters with a shoulder height of 1.5 meters. Also, do not forget Andrewsarchus who was had a body length of 4.5 meters, a shoulder height of 1.8 meters, and a weight of two tons. And, oh yeah, Megistotherium had a skull 65 cm long while Andrewsarchus had a skull 85 cm long.

  • he says its still the ice age he is an ass

  • its kinda...UGLY...ew...

  • @underxstars do you think looks mattered back then? haha who gives a fuck if its ugly it doesnt need to be pretty its a fucking bear for christ sakes. looking good is mother natures last concern.

  • i have long ass legs, can run faster than a horse, can smell u from 10 km away, my teeth can bite down a tree, it sounds just like chuck norris

  • i think the bear had chainmail skin

  • I can reach higher than a basketball hoop, and I run faster than a horse. Who am I?

  • @Oxstayne

    A black guy.

  • @y0user74 lol

  • What show?

  • Look at the username idiot

  • @Rayes101 National Geographic is a channel.

  • @CaptainVideo890 Ohh i forgot its name but its about some prehistoric animals

  • The giant short faced bear needs to fight the wolfman or big foot. It needed to happen,it would've been an awesome fight.

  • Looks lke a warewolf

  • Prehistoric ass

  • giant beARES die out when they meet prehistoric Giant Sparrows! These birds were as big as bus of today

  • yeah sure. there ar maybe a couple of 10 skulls in the world. and you have 1 of them??

    suuuuure

  • man they should really start cloneing this short of shit

  • I wanna see that thing fight Big Foot!

  • bearmageddon has come

  • >900 kilos WHAT THE FAQ

  • it's that true??

  • There is a series on the History Channel that has profiled this bear as well. It is called the Jurassic Fight Club. When you see the dinos fighting with the graphics they have us it makes you glad we will never have to meet on these critters.

A good example is the ancient croc's. Think they are big now, try one that is 40 ft long. Back then was no place for a scawny human to be.

  • No big Deal..

A full round of .50 caliber in the brain should do it.

  • There is a series on the Discovery Channel called the Jurrasic Fight Club tha thas profiled this bear as well. The graphics are much more realistic especially when they have the dinos fighing. It make you glad we don't have to go up against these guys

  • FROM FOSSILS DUMMY

  • hmm im no expert but in my opinion by the time humans have the tech to create crutures through what ever science the creature might not look like they did how can they tell what it looked like anyway otherwise the creture will be deformed anyway

  • bone structure.... FOSSILES.. simple math any more commen sense for an answer neeeded ?

  • This is a "Bulldog Bear"

  • Here's my two cents in this omnipresent argument.

Creationists: There is strong, scientific evidence that evolution has, is and will occur.

Evolutionists: There is no evidence to any sort of beginning or overall purpose to life in general.

So what does this prove? Nothing! The debate goes on. I only comment to say calm down; don't get insulting, or else you REALLY won't get anywhere.

  • Not to start a fight or anything, but there are scientific theories on creation that are just as plausible and evolution.

I personally don't care how the world came to be.

  • lol. stupid creacionist guys... you really can't see a finger in front of your eyes, can you?

  • No one tells you your religion is full of shit, don't go telling them that reality is full of shit.

  • looks like that an ancient lycan from underworld good movie.

  • Where's the continuation to this?

  • How is this bear like Ravage exactly?

  • If he played RuneScape he would have 99 Hunter...

  • So why has he disappeared from earth? It was such a powerful creature and yet... Can anybody exolain this to me?

  • the ice age

  • Some people may think it evolved into the modern bear, and its old design became useless to its terrain so it dissapreared and passed the baton to its brother. Their is also the other chance that it may have evolved and died in the Ice Age and just dissapeared do to its structure.

  • it was not fast enough to compete with smaller fast predators like wolves and brown bears. Plus it's larger size meant it had to eat more, so when are the end of the ice age and the grasslands turned to forest the prey animals got on average faster and smaller to cope with the greater heat and changing ecology. This meant the bear had to catch more than other smaller hunters to survive and was at a disadvantage because it was larger and slower.

  • actually it was fast 45 mph top speed, do some research

  • fukk food and fukk bears. And yar Dad!!!!

  • The reason why some animals are smaller because of food.

  • if evolution were true why natural selection make him smaller? wouldnt his large size dominate

  • officially the dumbest comment

  • The bigger you are the more you need to eat.Food shortages hit big predators hard.

  • the bigger you are the more you can get.smaller predators are weaker

  • @ra1n8ow actually, bigger animals are more food efficient.. i think

  • @ra1n8ow You said it. And man oh man. That Giant Short-Faced Bear is really the top predator of the food chain.

  • and i thought regular bears were scary
