Unbelievably I was besotted with Jack Wild from the time I saw him (at the age of 3!) in Oliver on the cinema screen and then in H.R. Pufnstuf and he was my invisible friend in my first year at school! I fell in love with him all over again when he was in Practical Math with Arthur English... there'll always be a spot in my heart for that serious young man with the sad eyes.

In both movies "Oliver" & "Melody" Mark Lester was the passive easy going type but that Jack Wild, boy O boy! In both those movies and in other acting roles etc., he was one hell of a show stealing, ass kicking whipper snapper.

What a guy! So sad he passed away.

This is a great scene. This movie really showed off Jack's acting ability. A lot of stuff he did back then didn't require a lot of talent, which was awful because he had SO MUCH of it. I think his portrayal of Ornshaw, the troubled youth was really amazing.
