I dont want to ruin the moment, and this is very sad and all, i cried the first time i saw it. The story is most likely fake, sadly. Almost everything online says it was just to make you tear up and spread it on. Whether this is the case or not, no one will never know. No one knows the true creator.

Apparently, the narrator got their ill mother hooked onto Animal Crossing after they and their brother stopped playing. She played obsessively until she was too ill to.

A year and a half later, the narrator decides to pick up the controller and play as their character again. The usual effects of town decay, etc. were there, but then the narrator checked their mailbox, only to find their mom's unread letters that she sent while alive.

Something to think about is that you get presents on your Birthday. He hadn't played in 2 years tops. Yet he definitely had more than 2 presents in his mailbox. I've played Animal Crossing and the game won't just randomly send you tons of gifts for no reason. Also, if you do some digging, you can find that the owner of the Korean blog where this originated from stated that this is a true story. Started as a post, then someone did a strip for it.
