Criticizing Yusuf Islam, or Cat Stevens (and I know they're the same person) for being Muslim is like doing the same to Albert Einstein or even Mel Brooks for being Jewish. Remember that Islam is somewhat similar to Christianity in the sense that in both religions, Jesus is seen as very important to the faith. This man hasn't done anything wrong, and nobody has the right to criticize him.

@08Revelator It is foolish to believe EITHER is the "word of God". They were written by PEOPLE. Both books have great wisdom and beauty, both have things totally wrong. My favorite verse is Romans 13:8-10, which says (as did Christ) that the LAW is love your neighbor, and that if you've followed this law, you've pleased God whether you're a Christian, Muslim, Jew, or don't know what to believe. And you can be in church and be pious but have no love for your neighbor, that doesn't.
So you reinforce that you believe Allah and the God of Israel to be the same because neither book in your opinion is the "Word of God"?
So then so I can understand what you believe a little better, do you believe the words written of what Jesus said in the Bible to be true and accurate? And if so, how do they hold more credibility to you then anything else written in the Bible?

As for words of Jesus, the basic message of course is, the actual words, Not all, of course. They were all written by memory hundreds of years later, the point isn't to have perfect word-for-word transcripts, but the basic message. There are quotes from Christ in scripture that Bible scholars think He probably didn't say.
Being a Christian means accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not belief in the accuracy of a book.

Non-Christians believe that Allah and the God of the Bible are the same God because they DO NOT believe that either book, the Quran or the Bible was written by God's direction. And this is logical, but what is also logical is if the Bible is God's inspired Word, then we have to logically assert, not matter how much it may offend people, that the Quran is Not God's Word. Again that is going on the premise that the Bible is God's Word.
Why is it that American Muslims call God name in Arabic, if Allah is "just arabic for god"? If Islam is truely a religion for all people, then why doesn't a hebrew Muslim call Him El or Yah, or why not a person who is not arabic call the name of your god in thier own language? It would seem most sincere to do so. But that is not the case. Allah is not just an arablic word for God, but is the name of the Arabic god. This is my conclusion.

I am so grateful that Yusuf has started singing again. Religion's minor differences set aside, this music is timeless. I had goosebumps watching and listening to an aging Cat Stevens play this song.
It doesn't matter that he thinks, or feels, or dresses a certain way. What does matter is the impact his art has on us all, and if I can listen to this song a hundred times, and tear up without even really knowing why every time I hear it, well - that's all I really know.

I really brings a smile to my face to see Yusuf (Cat) and Alun Davies back together again... I know who much the musicians that performed with him back in the days were very into the music and performance, especially Alun and as a fan I always felt it. Yusuf, it is truly wonderful to have you making music again!

I'm glad he's singing again. I always felt his loss and could never understand why he wasn't expressing the gift that God gave him. But I suppose in order to convey goodness, one must find inner peace first. As some Buddhists say, skillful action arises only from a foundation of inner peace and happiness. Criticizing Yusuf Islam, or Cat Stevens (and I know they're the same person) for being Muslim is like doing the same to Albert Einstein or even Mel Brooks for being Jewish. Remember that Islam is somewhat similar to Christianity in the sense that in both religions, Jesus is seen as very important to the faith. This man hasn't done anything wrong, and nobody has the right to criticize him.

@08Revelator It is foolish to believe EITHER is the "word of God". They were written by PEOPLE. Both books have great wisdom and beauty, both have things totally wrong. My favorite verse is Romans 13:8-10, which says (as did Christ) that the LAW is love your neighbor, and that if you've followed this law, you've pleased God whether you're a Christian, Muslim, Jew, or don't know what to believe. And you can be in church and be pious but have no love for your neighbor, that doesn't.

@08Revelator No, the two have nothing to do with one another.
As for words of Jesus, the basic message of course is, the actual words, Not all, of course. They were all written by memory hundreds of years later, the point isn't to have perfect word-for-word transcripts, but the basic message. There are quotes from Christ in scripture that Bible scholars think He probably didn't say.
Being a Christian means accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, not belief in the accuracy of a book.

Non-Christians believe that Allah and the God of the Bible are the same God because they DO NOT believe that either book, the Quran or the Bible was written by God's direction. And this is logical, but what is also logical is if the Bible is God's inspired Word, then we have to logically assert, not matter how much it may offend people, that the Quran is Not God's Word. Again that is going on the premise that the Bible is God's Word.

Why is it that American Muslims call God name in Arabic, if Allah is "just arabic for god"? If Islam is truely a religion for all people, then why doesn't a hebrew Muslim call Him El or Yah, or why not a person who is not arabic call the name of your god in thier own language? It would seem most sincere to do so. But that is not the case. Allah is not just an arablic word for God, but is the name of the Arabic god. This is my conclusion.

I'm glad he's singing again. I always felt his loss and could never understand why he wasn't expressing the gift that God gave him. But I suppose in order to convey goodness, one must find inner peace first. As some Buddhists say, skillful action arises only from a foundation of inner peace and happiness. Perhaps it's the same in Islam?
