  • @LiveLoveeMusic16 at any part of this movie does it say it was based on historical facts about the exploration of the America's. It just a good movie for people to enjoy. I just hate when people say " oh it's no historically accurate" no duh of course not.

  • If you know anything about history you would know this is NOT what happened. Far from it, but its a Disney movie and isn't meant to be a historical doc. Soo just enjoy the movie for what it is.

  • They better re-release this movie!!!

  • @deathguy167 It's "in the vault" as Disney puts it. I know what they're doing. They know many people want this film, so they put it away for awhile because they know that when they finally re-release it, they'll make more money off it.

  • @deathguy167 They did re-release this movie, about a year ago. They did change the name though...it was called "Avatar" or something....

  • Pocahontas is definitely the most beautiful..

  • Lol that poor raccoon

  • this was the song i listened to when i was deciding what my major was gonna be. stick with what i love or major in something that will guarantee lots of money. Thanks Disney :)

  • Disney's depiction of New England may be way off in this movie, but damn it sure is beautiful to look at.

  • I'm so tired of all the shows on disney channal like hannah montana and jonas,

I want the onld disney back. Shows that made me cry like the lion king and Beauty and the Beast and the little mermaid shows like that. I don't know why they stopped putting those shows one there and replaced it with shows like hannah montana. It really ticks me off! What happened to the old disney.

Post this on your favorite disney show or movie.

    W. Disney Forever!

  • i also grew up on classic disney movies and was born in 1998. just because most of the other kids my age are idiots(seriously, most of them are completely stupid), dont assume. i LOVE these movies as much as most people.

  • Memories....

    1:03 :P

  • This was such a mature "kid's" movie. It dealt with: war, colonialism, race hatred, interracial relationships, environmentalism, culture clashes, gender, feudalism, divided loyalties... and in the end they DON'T live happily ever after.

Yes, it has its flaws, particularly in respect to historical accuracy, but it also is very different from all other Disney films in that it doesn't play down to the young audience but rather invites them to come up and away from the shallow waters of fairytales.

  • @TheFeminista

The fact that it whitewashes colonialism and genocide makes it worse than a simple re-hashed fairy tale.

If 100 years from now, someone did the same treatment with Anne Frank's story? Having Jews and Nazis follow a similar storyline to the one in the film, complete with musical numbers and animal sidekicks? With a feel-good ending? I hope I never live to see that.

  • I love the songs in this movie... just so .. suitable. Like "Steady as the Beating Drum" reflects native music, this one just makes you want to run wild, to be free... you get the idea :P Will see you later. I'm going to go swan diving over a waterfall :P

  • @belen102030 agreed. i was born one year before you but to me as long as you weere born sometime in the 90's you are a 90's kid. and these movies are definitly way better than the stuff thats out today. plus anyone born in the sane years as us were raised with these movies being our favorites. early 90's kids were out when they were released and had to wait for each one

  • @bigtimerushfan4ever1 HEY! I was born in 2000 and i LOVE this movie these songs even if i can only watch them like once every year

  • @Rainbor123 sorry wasnt trying to offend you. this movie and its songs really are for everyone i was just trying to help prove a point that everyone born in the 90's is a true 90's kid because we were raised on the good movies that were put out in the early 90s and even from years before that.

  • 88 have never seen what's around the river bend.

  • oh god where can I download this song?!?!

  • DISNEY CLASSICS for lifeeeee !!!

  • I love going back to these songs and being like "Holy shit this actually has a meaning."

  • If you're born after 94 you're not really a 90's kid. You grew up in the 2000's, so shut your whiney mouths. 91 represent

  • @dunaway33 the only reason you said that year was because of lion king so shut the hell up!!! A 90s kid is something at heart not debated by which year in the god-damn 90s you were born in!!

  • @tang ally Something's Coming

  • came here after shaytards at disneyland :P

  • @HelloHeadphones haha me too!!

  • Best Pocahontas song :)

  • defenetly my favoritie disney pricess

  • This gives me shivers

  • I will play this song tomorrow as I explore the Virginian wilderness.

  • I luv the part when mico tries to sing too:3

  • he wants me to be steady.. like the river.. but it's not steady at all <3

  • who cares about the 90's in general. i LOVE pocahontas. i'm so inspired by her.

  • the italian version is better than this.

  • This unnecessary argument is ruining my favorite Pocahontas song! SO SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!!! Thank You!

  • I love how in Disney movies everything is magical and wonderful and always has a happy ending. Then you go see a true story version and it's nothing like Disney and 90% of the time won't have a happy ending... Quite depressing.

  • @belen102030 I totally agree with you, though I was born in 1996, I can still watch these old movies and I can really appreciate them.

  • This song could inspire a really fun ride. :o) Perhaps at The Animal Kingdom in Orlando.

  • i love pocahontas. she's so amazing and free and spirited and follows her own path. she's my favorite disney princess.

  • I admit... sometimes I grab an ore and pretend I'm Pocahontas singing this song!

  • @inufan330 JUST AROUND THE RIVERBENDDDDDD!!

  • i was singing this when i was canoeing

  • this song kinda reminds me of that one from west-side-story. oh, what's it called? the one where he thinks something big is coming. come on, help me out

  • Pocahontas's hair is in a Bose-Einstein Condensate.

    -LA.G

  • It's 2012, I'm 15, and I still love Disney. I always will <3

  • @PotterGleekz I am exactly the same :-)

  • @PotterGleekz me too <3

  • @PotterGleekz what a coincidence, im in the same exact position, except that i dont love disney anymore. i love the OLD disney.

  • his face at 1:19 PRICELESS

  • I'm glad I grew up with these kinds of movies.

  • who dose pocahonta's singing voice?

  • @Monster71596 Judy Kuhn.

  • Good part about Pocahontas: The animals DON'T talk!

  • @ilovebutch19 What's weird is that the animals don't speak, yet they say way more through their body language than other cartoon animals do through speech.

  • @004Daniel Real animals are the same way, if you pay attention. Quite clever the little fuzzy and feathery ones are.

  • @HellsingUltimate I know that in real life they are like that. I just find it awesomely weird that, in animation, the non-speaking animals say much more than the ones that actually say things.

  • @ilovebutch19 Bu the trees do :D

  • @ilovebutch19 but the trees do...

  • @ilovebutch19 yeah, just the tree.

  • @ilovebutch19 she was supposed to have a talking turkey friend.

  • @ilovebutch19 wtf disney animals never talk haha

  • @xxbluejay21 Lion King, Finding Nemo, 101 dalmatians, etc..

  • @deathguy167 Are you stupid? In those movies animals are the MAIN CHARACTERS. tsk tsk.

  • @xxbluejay21 You said disney animals never talk. So it looks like you're the one that's stupid. Fucking idiot.

  • @deathguy167 LOL fail... again, making yourself look stupid LOL.

  • I love that she take the rocky course. Inspiration in the making just by looking.

  • @GrahamCrackerGoCrazy AND has a badass raccoon sidekick!

  • If shes doesn't him...I'll take himXDDDDDD

  • i sing this all the time! it gives me hope:) born in '96, a serious disney princess fan, and proud:)

  • i hate all this rubbish about being a 'true 90's kid' i was born in 1997 so by some peoples standards i just made the cut, but i grew up on all the classic disney films, even the ones from before i was born. i hate it when some people feel they have more of a claim to these films then other people just because they were old enough to see it when it was first released. Sure disney's films were better in the 90s, but you don't need to have grown up in the 90s to appreciate them.

  • @belen102030

But kids these days, kids who DIDN'T watch these as small children, can't appreciate them, and they want teenage shitty dramas on Disney Channel and iPhones, not to watch Aladdin and have a Tamigochi.

  • @belen102030 THANK YOU. I was born in 97 as well, and some people think that I don't have any "right" to love these songs like they do. It's like wtf? I grew up on these movies! I watched my sisters old movies (born 91) and these movies are my childhood. Pft, silly people with their silly arguments.

  • @belen102030 I agree. Born 1998. Raised on Toy story, Mulan, Pocahontas, Lion King, Tarzan and Monsters Inc. :)

  • @belen102030 i agree with you completely i was born in 1995 and i love every disney movie even ones from before i was even born. by my standards you are a true 90's kid as the rest of us. my sister was born in 1997 and she grew up watching all classic disney films just like you and i. and you don't have to be a child of the 90's to love a disney film from that decade .

  • @belen102030 Quit complaining -.-

  • @belen102030 Agreed, I was born in the same year as you, and love Disney just as much as any other Disney lover :3

  • @belen102030 Thank you!! I was born in 1997 and grew up on these older movies as well! I hate when people assume we like that crap that's on Disney now. These classics are the best!

  • @belen102030 i was also born in 1997 and i agree completely

  • I looove Pocahontas, she's so amazing. And she's not afraid to defy anyone. <3

  • 1: 45 my fav part

  • I'm always complaining about Pixar movies, beacause I used to look Disney.. Disney is not just a few movies, those movies are THE movies.

  • 86 people cant fall down a waterfall singing perfectly on key without get their hair wet at ALL!!

  • How can her hair still be perfect?! What kind of shampoo and conditioner is SHE using? I need to get some of that stuff!

  • 86 people don't know whats around the river bend! :)

  • This scene is what started my love of kayaking, now i race on a national level. This movie seriously changed my life.

  • I got here from inuyasha...

  • My original copy of The Little Mermaid was stolen a few years back.. Sad:(

I live the 90's movies I love them so freaking much!:) they are amazing movies that should never be disgraced or shamed, everyone has their own opinion, heck there are even people who like Miley cyrus:(! Hannah Montana was not a completely bad thing, I mean I used to watch it a few years ago, it will just never be anywhere as good as the stuff from the good ol days of Disney movies. I was born in the early 90's and prou

  • Pocahontas reminds me of Sacajawea sorry cant spell it right

  • i love her hair and her vocie

i will always love this movie

  • playing with my pocahontas rowing canoe doll as im watching this lol :] super mega happy face

  • I'm a teenager and i STILL luv this movie

  • @gameraider100 I'm not even a teenager and I love this film.. you can be whatever age to appreciate this film

  • HOW THE &^@#!$ CAN THIS VID HAVE 86 DISLIKES?!!!

  • thumbs up if your watching this in 2011 :) <3

  • Comment removed

  • @stonemetallica miley cyrus was never a good singer to begin with i just dont want to be offensive but thats just my opinion

  • Does anyone else find pochantas attractive??

  • @salvipride23 that's sort of the idea. disney princesses are supposed to be the most beautiful in the entire movie.

  • she is so kickass I love this film <3

  • I used to watch this movie all of the time when I was very young, about one year old. All of the songs, whether I realized it or not, have stuck with me since then. I'm eighteen now and my dream is to one day work for Disney to create masterpieces like Pocahontas and the many other films released during the Disney Renaissance. :D

  • It's funny cause she really could have died a couple times

  • Thank you so much。 Do come and check out my french cover of this beautiful song。 Pocahontas (French) Just around the riverbend by Layinka。 xx

  • This movie has some of the best Disney songs in it, Pocahontas' singer (Judy Kuhn) is an amazing singer, and it has some fantastic acting.. it's a pity that I felt the actual story isn't as up to scratch as it could have been.

  • i want pocahontas hair. :(

    Its perfect

  • me too. :(

  • Woah... I just realized that at 1:47 it has some major symbolism. Everyone talks about Robert Frost's path less taken and stuff and how no one could ever come up with something that symbolic, but yupp. There it is. Another point for Disney!! :D

  • She needs to be on the pantene commercials.

  • how did they go from this to Hannah Montana ? really ... i worshiped this movie when i was i kid .... i feel bad for future generations

  • she s pretty

  • The way she finishes the song always gives me goosebumps.

  • Sometimes I envy her, I mean.... Shes Literally FREE she can do whatever the hell she wants and doesn't have to be afraid of ANYTHING.

  • @GrahamCrackerGoCrazy You can do the exact same thing ;)

  • @GrahamCrackerGoCrazy Except Europeans with guns

  • @GrahamCrackerGoCrazy Bears.... she should be afraid of bears

  • @GrahamCrackerGoCrazy except trolling.

  • Didn't see this as a kid, don't think I'm missing much, but I'm impressed by the Heraclitus...

  • @shitshit201, agreed

  • pocahontas is hot

  • I'm lucky enough to have found my John Smith already, but that's not going to stop me from exploring around the river bend. We're just going to explore it together, instead of by ourselves. :)

  • I remember cheering on simba when he fought scar.

I remember booing at Ursela when she took Arieal's voice.

I remember fighting the Huns with Mulan.

I remember the wind through my hair, running by Pocahontas.

I remember being locked in the Beast's castle.

I remember laughing and having fun with Mickey and his friends.

I don't remember watching teen drama on stupid disney channel

    W. Disney forever.

  • @mizuki7uchiha I remember meeting them all at disney land paris the other week... My childhood all came back to me <3

  • @Tozzlez Oh yes.

  • @mizuki7uchiha I love you for doing that

  • She seems different in this song than the others.

  • wat i love most about river is it attracts lots of animals to it

  • Straight from the fragments of Heraclitus.

    /golf clap

  • ah.... this song is sooooo beautiful!!! It makes me feel so very happy :3

  • Très beau ! <3

  • I suddenly have to use the restroom...

  • I just love it and I can repeat that a thousand times!

  • I'm following my dreams around the riverbend, no matter how unsteady a path it will be.

  • I forgot what a beautiful voice Pocahontas had(:

  • song seems more fitting towards teens then kids tbh but really good....

  • I was born in 1996 and my brother was born in 2001. Our age gap is only 5 years. we went to disney world two years ago and he didn't know who pinochio, cinderella, phocahontas, mulon, Tarzan or even the lion knig was. He grew up with pixar and I grew up wanting to be the little mermaid. in 5 years the movie industry underwent alot of changes, i think for both the better and the worse. I will always be a disney kid <3

  • @colliegurlxo Know how you feel my sisters born in 2000 and 2002 but i made sure they knew who they were

  • @colliegurlxo same. My sister wants to be a cowboy like woody. I wanted to be a mermaid/princess/fairy who lived in China in a Kimono and looked like pocahontas ¬____¬

  • @colliegurlxo I was born in 1997 and my little sister was born 2002. We have never been to disney though we would like to. When I was little, I watched Disney movies like Lion King, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Robin Hood, Dinosaur, and tons others. So I guess you can say my sister is growing up with what I watched. Though she hasn't heard of Tarzan and she claims she knows who Peter Pan is but wont tell me. I guess I need to teach her more. Anyways not trying to brag ^^;

  • @colliegurlxo your lucky....you JUST made the cut to be considered a true 90s kid. I feel so sorry for your bro though. :-( I hope you caught up with alot of the great 90s movies, shows, music, culture of the first 6 years of the 90s you missed. Awwww you totally missed the greatest years of the Power Rangers.... :-(

  • Watching all the Disney movies on YouTube, I'm finding a lot of the top comments are things like "There will NEVER be movies like the old Disney", etc. I think (or hope) that the mass media in general will undergo a change in thinking...people are getting tired of hearing/ watching crap...one day they will make children's movies like this again! :)

  • OMFG this song! I'm crying! X_X.

  • 6,836 to 86 so there are more lovers than haters. that gives me hopppe <333

  • Now, there is no more animated movies like old Disney movies. Even if they're funny, dialogues and songs are poor in words, melodies and messages convoyed. They lost the magic and the poetry of the old Disney

  • I'm proud to have had the opportunity to grow up with Disney. No animated movie will ever be as good as the movies from the 90's.

  • This movie is amazing. This is my childhood. I love Pocahontas. I wish more Disney movies were like this.

  • And then she had to carry her canoe all the way back...

  • @ingrid98R Judy Kuhn I do believe

  • *finishes watching video with a smile* - *looks up* - *everyone in the library is staring at me* - *has just sang along to it without realising* - *isn't even embarrassed*

  • @xmaster2 LOL <3.

  • @xmaster2 *WINNING*

  • @xmaster2 hahah

  • @xmaster2 hehe ^^

  • @xmaster2 AWESOME

  • Waking up Saturday mornings to watch Pocahontas and the rest of the GOOD Disney movies.....yep. That was my childhood. 90's FTW.

  • A 90'S CHILD AND PROUD OF IT!

  • If you had your child hood in the 90's like me, realize how lucky you were to have movies like this. I feel bad for the kids now a days who dont have these like we did.

  • @TheLegendizBorn not all kids "now adaya" are like that u know

  • who song this?

  • i'd marry the big indian dude...just say'n

  • I remember cheering on simba when he fought scar.

    W. Disney forever

  • 86 people dont have souls

  • DINSEY SHALL RISE AGAIN! sorry if i sound wierd

  • If she were alive now, Pocahontas would have a major gambling problem.

  • OAO Pocahontas's voice actress and singer sound exactly alike! I LOVE IT!!!

  • You know how all the Disney Princesses have their own theme song, this should have been Pocahontas's. Colors of the wind somewhat strays away from the Disney Princess idea.

  • 90's were the best time for Disney VHS Movies!

  • goosebumps

  • This is a beautiful piece. The children of the 90s have nothing but the sheer luck to born in such a remarkable decade where musical and visual mastery is executed and underrated in today's day and age. Pocahontas is just a small excerpt of what true cinematic films were all about.

    .
