@LiveLoveeMusic16 at any part of this movie does it say it was based on historical facts about the exploration of the America's. It just a good movie for people to enjoy. I just hate when people say " oh it's no historically accurate" no duh of course not.
If you know anything about history you would know this is NOT what happened. Far from it, but its a Disney movie and isn't meant to be a historical doc. Soo just enjoy the movie for what it is.
@deathguy167 It's "in the vault" as Disney puts it. I know what they're doing. They know many people want this film, so they put it away for awhile because they know that when they finally re-release it, they'll make more money off it.
this was the song i listened to when i was deciding what my major was gonna be. stick with what i love or major in something that will guarantee lots of money. Thanks Disney :)
I'm so tired of all the shows on disney channal like hannah montana and jonas,
I want the onld disney back. Shows that made me cry like the lion king and Beauty and the Beast and the little mermaid shows like that. I don't know why they stopped putting those shows one there and replaced it with shows like hannah montana. It really ticks me off! What happened to the old disney.
i also grew up on classic disney movies and was born in 1998. just because most of the other kids my age are idiots(seriously, most of them are completely stupid), dont assume. i LOVE these movies as much as most people.
This was such a mature "kid's" movie. It dealt with: war, colonialism, race hatred, interracial relationships, environmentalism, culture clashes, gender, feudalism, divided loyalties... and in the end they DON'T live happily ever after.
Yes, it has its flaws, particularly in respect to historical accuracy, but it also is very different from all other Disney films in that it doesn't play down to the young audience but rather invites them to come up and away from the shallow waters of fairytales.
The fact that it whitewashes colonialism and genocide makes it worse than a simple re-hashed fairy tale.
If 100 years from now, someone did the same treatment with Anne Frank's story? Having Jews and Nazis follow a similar storyline to the one in the film, complete with musical numbers and animal sidekicks? With a feel-good ending? I hope I never live to see that.
I love the songs in this movie... just so .. suitable. Like "Steady as the Beating Drum" reflects native music, this one just makes you want to run wild, to be free... you get the idea :P Will see you later. I'm going to go swan diving over a waterfall :P
@belen102030 agreed. i was born one year before you but to me as long as you weere born sometime in the 90's you are a 90's kid. and these movies are definitly way better than the stuff thats out today. plus anyone born in the sane years as us were raised with these movies being our favorites. early 90's kids were out when they were released and had to wait for each one
@Rainbor123 sorry wasnt trying to offend you. this movie and its songs really are for everyone i was just trying to help prove a point that everyone born in the 90's is a true 90's kid because we were raised on the good movies that were put out in the early 90s and even from years before that.
@dunaway33 the only reason you said that year was because of lion king so shut the hell up!!! A 90s kid is something at heart not debated by which year in the god-damn 90s you were born in!!
I love how in Disney movies everything is magical and wonderful and always has a happy ending. Then you go see a true story version and it's nothing like Disney and 90% of the time won't have a happy ending... Quite depressing.
this song kinda reminds me of that one from west-side-story. oh, what's it called? the one where he thinks something big is coming. come on, help me out
@ilovebutch19 What's weird is that the animals don't speak, yet they say way more through their body language than other cartoon animals do through speech.
@HellsingUltimate I know that in real life they are like that. I just find it awesomely weird that, in animation, the non-speaking animals say much more than the ones that actually say things.
Pocahontas taught me to see past skin and differences, Simba taught me that you should learn from your past, not run from it, and of course the circle of life, Belle taught me that its ok to be different, Mulan taught me the definition of honor, Jasmine taught me that sometimes in life you have to make things happen, and voice your opinion, and Woody taught me the definition of friendship: loyalty and fun times.
I really do worry about kids these days without the Classics
i hate all this rubbish about being a 'true 90's kid' i was born in 1997 so by some peoples standards i just made the cut, but i grew up on all the classic disney films, even the ones from before i was born. i hate it when some people feel they have more of a claim to these films then other people just because they were old enough to see it when it was first released. Sure disney's films were better in the 90s, but you don't need to have grown up in the 90s to appreciate them.
But kids these days, kids who DIDN'T watch these as small children, can't appreciate them, and they want teenage shitty dramas on Disney Channel and iPhones, not to watch Aladdin and have a Tamigochi.
@belen102030 THANK YOU. I was born in 97 as well, and some people think that I don't have any "right" to love these songs like they do. It's like wtf? I grew up on these movies! I watched my sisters old movies (born 91) and these movies are my childhood. Pft, silly people with their silly arguments.
@belen102030 i agree with you completely i was born in 1995 and i love every disney movie even ones from before i was even born. by my standards you are a true 90's kid as the rest of us. my sister was born in 1997 and she grew up watching all classic disney films just like you and i. and you don't have to be a child of the 90's to love a disney film from that decade .
@belen102030 Thank you!! I was born in 1997 and grew up on these older movies as well! I hate when people assume we like that crap that's on Disney now. These classics are the best!
My original copy of The Little Mermaid was stolen a few years back.. Sad:(
I live the 90's movies I love them so freaking much!:) they are amazing movies that should never be disgraced or shamed, everyone has their own opinion, heck there are even people who like Miley cyrus:(! Hannah Montana was not a completely bad thing, I mean I used to watch it a few years ago, it will just never be anywhere as good as the stuff from the good ol days of Disney movies. I was born in the early 90's and prou
I used to watch this movie all of the time when I was very young, about one year old. All of the songs, whether I realized it or not, have stuck with me since then. I was born in 1996 and my brother was born in 2001. Our age gap is only 5 years. we went to disney world two years ago and he didn't know who pinochio, cinderella, phocahontas, mulon, Tarzan or even the lion knig was. He grew up with pixar and I grew up wanting to be the little mermaid. in 5 years the movie industry underwent alot of changes, i think for both the better and the worse. I will always be a disney kid <3
@colliegurlxo same. My sister wants to be a cowboy like woody. I wanted to be a mermaid/princess/fairy who lived in China in a Kimono and looked like pocahontas ¬____¬
@colliegurlxo I was born in 1997 and my little sister was born 2002. We have never been to disney though we would like to. When I was little, I watched Disney movies like Lion King, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Robin Hood, Dinosaur, and tons others. So I guess you can say my sister is growing up with what I watched. Though she hasn't heard of Tarzan and she claims she knows who Peter Pan is but wont tell me. I guess I need to teach her more. Anyways not trying to brag ^^;
@colliegurlxo your lucky....you JUST made the cut to be considered a true 90s kid. I feel so sorry for your bro though. :-( I hope you caught up with alot of the great 90s movies, shows, music, culture of the first 6 years of the 90s you missed. Awwww you totally missed the greatest years of the Power Rangers.... :-(
Watching all the Disney movies on YouTube, I'm finding a lot of the top comments are things like "There will NEVER be movies like the old Disney", etc. I think (or hope) that the mass media in general will undergo a change in thinking...people are getting tired of hearing/ watching crap...one day they will make children's movies like this again! :)
Now, there is no more animated movies like old Disney movies. Even if they're funny, dialogues and songs are poor in words, melodies and messages convoyed. They lost the magic and the poetry of the old Disney
*finishes watching video with a smile* - *looks up* - *everyone in the library is staring at me* - *has just sang along to it without realising* - *isn't even embarrassed*
If you had your child hood in the 90's like me, realize how lucky you were to have movies like this. I feel bad for the kids now a days who dont have these like we did.
You know how all the Disney Princesses have their own theme song, this should have been Pocahontas's. Colors of the wind somewhat strays away from the Disney Princess idea.
This is a beautiful piece. The children of the 90s have nothing but the sheer luck to born in such a remarkable decade where musical and visual mastery is executed and underrated in today's day and age. Pocahontas is just a small excerpt of what true cinematic films were all about.
@LiveLoveeMusic16 at any part of this movie does it say it was based on historical facts about the exploration of the America's. It just a good movie for people to enjoy. I just hate when people say " oh it's no historically accurate" no duh of course not.

@colliegurlxo Know how you feel my sisters born in 2000 and 2002 but i made sure they knew who they were
alwaysalwayslaughing 2 months ago in playlist Disney Songs
@colliegurlxo same. My sister wants to be a cowboy like woody. I wanted to be a mermaid/princess/fairy who lived in China in a Kimono and looked like pocahontas ¬____¬

@colliegurlxo I was born in 1997 and my little sister was born 2002. We have never been to disney though we would like to. When I was little, I watched Disney movies like Lion King, Pocahontas, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Robin Hood, Dinosaur, and tons others. So I guess you can say my sister is growing up with what I watched. Though she hasn't heard of Tarzan and she claims she knows who Peter Pan is but wont tell me. I guess I need to teach her more. Anyways not trying to brag ^^;

They lost the magic and the poetry of the old Disney
homoTsiptirizsoufle 2 months ago
I'm proud to have had the opportunity to grow up with Disney. No animated movie will ever be as good as the movies from the 90's.
