  • @meoget Without James Brown there is no Funk, no Disco, no Afro-beat and other sub genres that where spawned from funk where the emphasis is on rhythm, such as early hip hop which was predominantly dance music, built from the grooves of funk and disco records. He is one of the most important figure in 20th century music. An innovator and pioneer of groove. When you consider who were the giants of 20th century music; Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Miles Davis, etc, James Brown belongs there.

  • @meoget But you also have to consider the social-political significance of James Brown, and the stylistic influence he had over a generation which marched side by side with other revolutionaries of the era that saw America and its youth at odds with each other. At Motown, Berry Gordy sought to harmonise America and the rest of the world through the all embracing, colorless and soul stirring pop music derived from the roots of Gospel and Blues. But James was raw and said say it loud!

  • @meoget Bob Dylan once sang "The times they are a changing". And like Dylan and The Beatles, he helped to usher in those changing times by providing the soundtrack of a generation. By the time the world discovered him, he was already 'the hardest working man in show biz'. By 1968 he had arguably the tightest band, or perhaps more specifically, tightest rhythm section in the history of 20th century popular music. I say ARGUABLY cause some would point to Count Basie's big band of the swing era.

  • @bolder2009 the beatles? bob dylan? those take advantage of white stupid kids playin black music for them... do u even know muddy waters sonny boy etc dats the real thing

  • @TheSatanas666 Yes I know Muddy Waters and Sonny Boy, and that blues is the foundation of rock and much of American music. But its common knowledege that Dylan and The Beatles shaped aspects of popular culture in the 60's that still resonate today, just as its inarguable that James Brown was one of the forces of change that defined the times, alongside Motown, Sly & The Family Stone, Hendrix, etc.

  • @bolder2009 they dont change nothing for us, they just pre-fabricated pop music the beatles even use playback in their live gigs, they may introduce you as a white boy to some things, but we blacks know those stuff all the time and by the way hendrix and sly took their sound from johnny guitar watson ;)

  • @TheSatanas666 Firstly, I'm not a "White boy", so don't make assumptions about somebody on the internet who you don't know. That's just some advice for the future. Take it or leave it. Secondly, your going off the topic. I was making a point to another youtuber about the historical and cultural relevance of James Brown, whose impact in popular music is as significant as artists who are usually more acknowledged in the media and 'Rock' press, such as The Beatles and Bob Dylan.

  • grill hamburger dancing ........

  • It's not rare any more!

  • how's it rare if it's on youtube?

  • I had to listen to this with the sound muted and I caught my head bobbing and my foot tapping cuz I could feel the music simply through his and the bands visual performance..... now that my friends is how all live music should be

  • and they say Elvis was the king, bah !

  • @dannyknapp Yes indeed, that moment at 1:54 gave me massive goosebumps.

  • @dannyknapp LOL no doubt.Elvis wanted the Jb's to play for him they were like nah we're good

  • @dannyknapp Elvis actually stole ((Hound Dog)), from woman name.. big mama thornton, when i found that out I WAS LIKE WTF!!!

  • @dannyknapp Elvis ain't got anything on Bad Man Brown!

  • @dannyknapp Elvis had to steal the little bit of funk he had and it wasn't much. James' funk came from the SOUL, baby..... :)

  • @dannyknapp Elvis was KING...... but JB is GOD!
