  • I can't believe he's 85! Love James Lipton <3

  • Am I the only one who thinks James Lipton's voice sounds a little like James Earl Jones'.

  • I can't say I am a James Lipton fan but he is giving excellent advice, not just for aspiring actors but for anyone who wants to be the best in their field. Just generalize the info and apply it across the spectrum.

  • His program is always a fine lesson in one the most important and needed skills in film: Hollywood asskissing and brownnosing.

  • James Lipton Ice Tea

  • Is he any relation to the Lipton tea people?

  • I love this man...and his interview style in the actor's studio. He really understands actors and the whole acting process....he also has a killer deadpan style that often gets me laughing out loud.

  • I think Mr. Lipton should interview members of The Actors Studio that are not necessarily famous or movie stars because I believe students would relate to the person who is not famous but who worked hard at his craft, auditioned and passed through the grueling process in gaining admission to the studio and who is a working actor because becoming famous or a star isn't in anyone's control but working hard is.

  • This guy is nearly 100. Doesn't look it though.

  • lol, at minute 2:05, Lipton takes a moment to advertise the Bravo network :)

  • check out my acting channel please and see me act!!

  • boy o boy do i love his ice tea

  • I wish somebody would release Inside The Autors Studio in Complete series, like Inside The Actors Studio The Complete Season 1 etc...

  • wish i knew what i was supposed to do with my life

  • Lipton has a terrific voice.

  • nice tips

  • james liptons a bitch

  • i control my destiny

  • Look who he's interviewing! And you know he can't ask for another take.

  • terrible interviewer

  • yeah, right, hehe, yeap, right, right, aha.

  • interviewer shut up.....u amateur!!!!

  • he is right.....i am an actor...he is right!!!

  • @TheOptimistPrime....... VERY TRUE thank god somebody noticed. It's true there are many sports figures, musicians, and even "non actors" getting paid millions to be in movies. However, (and this is my favorite part) they are not Actors. They have no respect for the craft of acting and everyone (especially the audience) can tell. Real Actors like Streep, Hagen, the Lunts, Brando, Pacino, Duse, ect are the

the ones that everyone will remeber because their work is pure and real.

  • I wish the interviewer would keep his: "ah huh.....right.....hmmmmhmms" to his self. It is very distracting.

  • come on you got to listen to the lipton man he knows whats hot

  • I'd want him to be my teacher

  • Lipton rules, but this guy needs to work on his interviewing skills. Let the man talk instead of all the "mmhmm" "Right." "Yeah." As Christian Bale would say: "Jesus Christ man, you're amature!"

  • I met him once in New York. He was pretty cool. Very down to earth..even laughed at my jokes.

  • Thank you, James. from HOLLYWOOD SCREENWRITER -the song.

  • @astrologysongs He is one 3dollar bill!!

  • Lipton is an lousy actor

  • Lipton =reality, modest men!!!!

  • The interview was good. but it's too short. I mean c'mon only one question?

  • did any of lipton's students(out of thousands) ever get famous

  • Yes, Bradley Cooper is known for being a member of the actor's studio. And the students aren't just strictly acting students

  • he never made it as an actor so what the fuck is he talking about?

  • You're kidding me, right? Suppose you study science at home, but you aren't known by the world of science - does that diminish your achievements in any way? No. Similarly, Lipton has spent years talking to masters of their craft. Subsequently I suspect he is sharing much of their knowledge - which he does not claim to be his - to anyone looking for advice. He was asked. It's an interview. He even says so himself he cannot act like the greats. Drop your ego fucking trip, jackass.

  • First and Foremost, Lipton was a dancer and writer. But to say that he never made it as actor is preposterous. Making it does not mean fame & fortune, it means success. During the fifties and sixties he was doing quite well for himself and still acts even today. (He had a recurring role on Arrested Development)

  • James Lipton has both taught and studied under the greatest actors of this century. He's got achievements that stem beyond a leading role in Mission Impossible.

  • advices of my cock!!! if you get talent and you get out it you will be a brilliant actor despite only being beautiful etc....

  • How hard is screen acting anyways? You can do the scene over and over to perfection. And meanwhile you sit in your trailer doing blow and playing video games waiting to be called on set. Stage acting is real acting. There is no room for fuck ups. I'd like to see Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts and the other shitty actors on his show do some fucking Hamlet in front of a live audience.

  • It's not about being easy or hard. It has to do with charisma. Arnold has the body, face, accent and style. I can't define it. Some men are born great, some achieve and some have it thrust upon them. I think that's how it goes.

  • You have no knowledge of acting in general then.

  • If stage actors are better then how come some can't act in front of a camera. Also, many hollywood stars, including Julia Roberts, have done stage acting.

  • @irishbluejay : yes, but have you personally seen hollywood stars acting on broadway? some do well, (usually the ones who started in the theatre and have theatre training) but usually its just a producers' scam for hype and ticket sales, and in my opinion all together bullshit which pulls down the standards of broadway.

  • I feel being successful as an actor/actress has more to do with the people you meet and connections...more than what is said!

  • I agree in part but honestly what it really comes down to is whether or not you will make money for the industry thats it ...talent ,complexion connections are all important but at the end of the day its all about the money ..

  • oh yeah, thats for sure. on point!

  • So move to hollywood and meet the right people. Read "Think and Grow Rich".

  • hehh...yeah, I cant imagine a Saudi guy being a hollywood star, not for now at least lol..

but I might check that book out though ;) ...thanks :D

  • hahahaha

  • lololol

  • James Lipton is very funny and he's a genius at acting. He's very non-judgemental and a really caring person. He's just a really great person. I love Inside The Actors Studio!!!

  • This is my favourite show too! =) I especially loved the interviews with Al Pacino, Tom Hanks and Hugh Grant. ;)

  • Mine would be Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Tim Allen, and Sarah Jessica Parker.

  • This man is absolutely brilliant.

  • haha i love james lipton, and will ferells impersonation is amazing haha

  • This guy really cracks me up since Will Ferrel's portrayal.

  • Thanks! Very informative!

  • Great video! James is so right. I do my own show and I never thought it would be too difficult before I started it and now I see how difficult it is! No matter what filed you want to be in, you can never get enough training.

  • Good stuff.

I believe in every word that man said, from beginning to end. James Lipton, I salute you.
