Because the more excess rubber you have around the edge, the more chance you have of getting ink on this excess which may imprint when you you're making your stamped impression. That's why it's best to close around the design as close as you can ;-)
I got it from Dies to Die For but you can get them from all over. They are called Miss Anya stamps and are quite popular so grab them when you can! ;0)
I love the stamps but I still don't understand why you just can't cut it in 3 parts and leave it at that ?

Those stamps are really sweet! I`m not sure if I`d trust myself cutting them out as my scissor skills are not the best! XD
