So sad. I grew up with one of these cars. It was a 1984 model and our family had it from 1990 to 1999. It eventually needed some engine repairs so we traded it in for a 1995 Crown Vic. That car now has over 120,000 miles on it and no more than $300 worth of repairs since we've had it (12 years now). I hate to see such a reliable tank of a car taken off the road to be replaced by some POS Toyota.

@ledzep112 When a car catches fire, most of the time it does not blow until some time after it's on fire. With that small fire it wasn't not going to "blow up". The fire has to compromise the gas tank to blow up, not just melt a fuel line. P.s. I know what a damn fuel line is, you stupid redneck.

@2001silverado363 You've obviously never looked in a car, before. When gas touches fire, it lights. :) And there just happens to a gas line running from the engine to the gas tank. There's also gas in the engine. Espcially if it's still running. Yes, it can explode. Not "everythings destroyed" explode, but flames will come out of the exhaust, near the fan, and if it does, "explode" it will send flaming pieces of rubber everywhere.
Ever had a rubber burn? ;)

I accidentally ran my car today with out oil, when it died, I felt like I lost a family member, my car was a 1990 Acura Legend, 224k and would of keep going if I had noticed the oil was leaking...

The CFC program was not about protecting the environment--that was just an excuse. The real reason the CFC program came to existence was to bail out the irresponsible and incompetent GM and Chrysler. However, most of the vouchers went to foreign companies and the results became the equivalent of letting the fat kid on the deserted island eat all the food while the rest of us work to harvest and kill it.

Now isn't really the time because they consumer will just buy another gas car and gas engines cannot be more than 30% efficient, no matter how it is improved. So the future is an electric drivetrain imo
