  • There are many more passages that get clogged beyond the main jet. Most old carburetors will require much more cleaning that this video demonstrates. Nice attempt, but I feel it lead many to frustration.

  • Is this the problem if the moped runs but can't idle?

  • Hey my peugeot doesn't idle. I turn it on and the speed will keep increasing up to 20mph without touching a single thing. Do you think its the throttle cable?

  • @someonenoticeimdead either the cable or the slide is stuck open

  • @RetroShinigami

i have Helkama ax too from 1991 , where are you from ? :D

  • cool im thinkin of gettin a garelli and i was told it doesnt stay running prob the carb

i think ill let it set it some carb cleaner just to make sure but now i know how to do it thanx wired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I just got a Moobecane Mobylette 50v, lolz, I was very happy to find this because I was trying to just find instructions to clean a moped carb out and here is moped that is close to what I own...thanks.

  • Did anyone else hear the song "Dance Dance" by Fall out Boy at the end?

  • Hi, sometimes its not sufficent to blow through the jet. I don´t know about the US but in europe it has been common in the last years to mix biological components with fuel to extend it. After years those components can cause a crusty material in the jet and other parts. It has to be removed manually. You can take some soft copperwire (harder material may change the size of the bore) to clean it.

  • ille tell you a tip just pull the carb of then put it in pepsi or coca cola over night with the lid shut in a bowl or what ever and the next day it will be clean as watch i no it sounds silly but it beats doing shit like this cos you might lose the bits this way and trust me it works cos im doing it now to my bike then dry the carb out then your dun back on the bike sorted ant it will run like new :)

  • Hey! I have a huge question. I disassembled my scooter the other day and I just want the motor. Its a 4 stroke motor. I have NO idea about motors. The question is: how do i get it to start? Do I need the battery to get it working? Or can I just use the kick and it will start after some time? ill send a link of my engine on mail if some one wants to see what I’m talking about.

  • @peer91 If it has a kickstart, you do not need a battery to make it start. The battery is to make the headlight brighter, make the horn louder and make the turn signals work at idle. The battery is also used for electric start if you have one. I would prime it, open the choke and then see if it kick starts first.

  • Kzoo represent!

  • hi good video,i have vespa et2 1999 and the automatic chock is not work,my friend have one four sell from vespa zip 1997 the scooteres is 2 strocke and 50cc, you thing is go to fix on many tks.

  • I like pie

  • is it ok to use a car carb cleaner on a 2 stroke engine carb?

  • yes its just lik ea regualar carb the fumes and liquid will give you a temporay power bosst...ie cheap nos if you can hook up a small bottle right :D

  • yup yup yup! just dont drink it!

  • @songz15love Yes you can but remove all of the plastic and rubber parts first.

  • @songz15love

    Yep

  • There is more to cleaning a carb than this video shows - what about checking the top of the carb such as the diaphragms, springs, needles or cleaning any crap off the butterfly valves?

Its a nice introduction, but its not complete.

  • try that shit with a gurtner then see how well it goes!

  • Thats the worst demonstration of incorrect technique ive ever seen used to clean a carbureator on ANY kind of powersport vehicle

  • funny I picked up a moped last week and this is the one I got

  • carburatore dell'orto sha 15\15 giusto?

  • thats a lot ill try it :)

  • or use an air compressor instead of blowing..cuz we all know how lovely old gas tastes and how you burp it up for at least a day..

  • make sure u check for small metal shards/particulates in the float bowl as they gather in there. clean them out as well

  • I was gonna say thats not the original carb,(but it was already said) that appears to be a brand new delhorto carb..Which is the carb to get for your ped if you want to replace it.

  • Das ist ja mal voll unfair, während die in den USA so schnell wie möglich mit ihren 50ccm Moped fahren dürfen, müssen wir in Deutschland unsere Karren auf 50-45Km/h drosseln.

  • You know, if you're not going to clean out the rust from the fuel tank, you should at least try to put a fuel filter in there somewhere so you don't mess up the carb.

  • on my puch maxi the old carb i had the flat bowl wouldnt unscrew

  • is it the same with a 85 honda spree?

  • most carbs are alike, they all consist of the same things, so yes, you CAN clean it the same way

  • cool thank you. :)

  • i want to see more videos from these guys, they r GOOD!

  • LOL its very simple. u commented on my tomos targa lx vid... take apart ur carb and put itback together, u'll see how easy/ simple they have made it and how amazing it is that this little carb pressurizes the fuel into vapour with air and makes it very cold and then gets sucked into the engine. then the engine rotates up to 11000 rpm. 11000 TINY LITTLE EXPLOSIONS HAPPENING EVERY MINUTE WITH THIS LITTLE PISTON!!! this is what got me into internal combustion engines

  • Thanks! I've got a motorcycle, which makes things a bit more complicated, but I've been looking for a general overview like this for a long time.

    Thanks again!

  • why blow through it ??

i always use an air compressor , i find it does a better job.

  • how good of a job can you do on such a task?

  • fair point but it does make things alot easier.

  • yeah its probably a lot easier. and better for you.

  • thats the exact carb i have on my 2001 tomos targa lx

  • a bicycle with a motor!!! lol when i was a kid i always thought of one of these.

  • usefull vid thanks for this man

  • dont forget to switch on again the fuel.

  • Fourth. :D

    Nice vid.

  • that is not the original carb, and do use a compressor to clean the yet.

and there is more to it than just cleaning the yet,

  • Excellent video...

    Pretty useful...

  • first 5 star good vid
