belly dancing is different from punta, you should do your homework, punta is from the garifuna's. I am from Belize, just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can degrade it. I don't like the waltz but I don't go around saying that all it is just another variation of the salsa or the rumba.

Punta is a Garifuna dance. The Garifunas are not originally from Honduras, but rather from Yurumei, which is called the island of St. Vincent today. There are Garifuna communities not only in Honduras but also in Belice, Nicaragua, Guatemala and now probably all over the U.S. and other parts of the world....The origen of Punta is Yurumei.

So glad I finally got to see this video. I fell in love with Nuru's music while browsing Garinet last year (I spent a couple of months in Corozal, Honduras 25 years ago and like to keep up on the happenings around there). ok ok ok let me clarify so many unclear comments. Punta comes from Black Karibs as known in English. These Black Karibs settled in Honduras centuries ago. These were the blacks that were brought from Africa. They became known as Garifunas in Honduras. Then of course they migrated to different parts of Central America such as Belize. But they are originally from the West Coast of Honduras. Thats were most of them live NOW.
I must admit that I'm disappointed in your video Dayann. This video should be showing others how to dance punta from the originators of punta not others who simply picked it up/took it on due to proximity to the Garifunas. yes my brother, punta is well known all over the world; punta is older that the independence of the central American countries; I am just cut up in the idea of not allowing too much of misinformation. For example the wanaragua which is today mistaking with yancunu.

belly dancing is different from punta, you should do your homework, punta is from the garifuna's. I am from Belize, just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can degrade it. I don't like the waltz but I don't go around saying that all it is just another variation of the salsa or the rumba.

I am not saying that other people should not sing or dance punta, however, shaking one's tail however you want is not dancing punta,unless we gonna have to acept that fish also dance punta.... The waltz is a waltz, tango is tango, etc, if not done correctly they become something else. Innovate. Create. Honor origens and traditions as well.

Punta is a Garifuna dance. The Garifunas are not originally from Honduras, but rather from Yurumei, which is called the island of St. Vincent today. There are Garifuna communities not only in Honduras but also in Belice, Nicaragua, Guatemala and now probably all over the U.S. and other parts of the world....The origen of Punta is Yurumei.

I fell in love with Nuru's music while browsing Garinet last year (I spent a couple of months in Corozal, Honduras 25 years ago and like to keep up on the happenings around there). Anyway, I've been listening to the album since then, but it never occurred to me until now to search for videos. Great job!

ok ok ok let me clarify so many unclear comments. Punta comes from Black Karibs as known in English. These Black Karibs settled in Honduras centuries ago. These were the blacks that were brought from Africa. They became known as Garifunas in Honduras. Then of course they migrated to different parts of Central America such as Belize. But they are originally from the West Coast of Honduras. Thats were most of them live NOW.

I must admit that I'm disappointed in your video Dayann. This video should be showing others how to dance punta from the originators of punta not others who simply picked it up/took it on due to proximity to the Garifunas. I expected you to do punta dancing justice and not simply copy the other hispanic artists who stole our dance and music and don't represent it in its authentic form.
