  • Our's is a lot bigger than that xD

  • I have 2 gerbils in one cage. One is fat, the other skinny. when they eat, the fat one takes the food out of the others mouth :(. Then, the skinny one just forgets to eat. I would like some help on this cause I'm worried for both of their health for different reasons.

  • @Jebrylla dominance will do that. just try to give the skinny one more sunflower seeds/pine nuts but obviously not too many. as for the fat one just let him out for a run around your room for 30 mins longer than the skinny one.

  • That's pregnant it's obvious

  • damn that is 1 fattie, it looks preggers, is it?

  • i have a pet rat rats are smarter

  • no doubt about it, gerbils are a bit silly really xD

  • @MadGoose5 haha,

  • @lucht97 rats are smarter but gerbils are cuter!!!!!!

  • mine looks fatter i dont know what is wrong with her she just suddenly grew double her size in about a week... she def couldnt be pregnant as she lives with her sister who eats the same and is not fat at all

  • not wishing to insult your intelegence, but are you sure that she definately does live with another female? sometimes gerbils are difficult to sex, trust me on that! We've had plenty of shock pregnancies.

otherwise,. sometimes gerbils get some kind of bloat, sometimes to do with an illibility to take fluids. this is most common in older gerbils, but it can be a birth defect.

if she does not seem to be suffering in any way, dont worry. gerbils are hardy little creatures!

  • She got put down about 30mins ago as she had cancer. :(

  • Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. There isn't a lot a vet can do when a small rodent is very sick, but it doesn't happen very often and I hope it never happens to you again - With any pets you ever have.

  • aww.... that's so sad....

  • the other 1 died of depression like 2 weeks later

  • my condolences...

  • that's the problem with social animals, they get upset when they are alone :(

  • your gerbil could have heart failure and that can cause extreme loss of weight or extreme gain of weight

  • Huh, I didn't know that... Sometimes its hard to tell. Not sure how long a small animal could live with heart failure, because the one in the video seemed perfectly healthy for a good while before she died despite her size (she has now died unfortunately, but she was very old).

  • yes sorry to hear she died but they can live for their whole lives with heart failure if the owner took very good care for them

  • LOL!

  • pretty gerbil
