  • i luv u amelaaaaaaaaaaaaa so muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , its endlessssssssssssss

  • Michelle Pfeiffer.....one of her best roles....

  • Reminds me of the 2 years i spent in Russia and also the Pribaltiskaya hotel, which is shown in this magnificent movie ... St. Petersburg a beautiful city .. the Neva river, the frozen Gulf of Finland and more .. too many memories !! I met my second wife there ... this music and theme moves you deeply !!

  • So damn melancholy and haunting but I still have to listen to it

  • Watch out for an up and coming release of "alone in the world" from the movie, by Barbra Streisand and trumpeter Chris Botti. I think it's out next week. Great soundtrack

  • Jerry Goldsmtih's Jazz Background coming through in this soundtrack. JG was a Jewish Jazz Musician before Hollywood came knocking. It seems all the musicians who produce the most beautiful music have a strong Jazz background and deep understanding of Jazz.

  • this song used to put me to sleep as a baby

  • Betörend schön und ich muss weinen.

  • it's amazing to think this was originally a minor cue on the (rejected) score for "Alien Nation" performed on a bad 80's synthesizer. Goes to show how a good melody is a good melody and can be be re-arranged, re-worked and re-performed in countless ways

  • beautiful score by goldsmith, a note: this was originally written for "ALIEN NATION" the score was rejected and reworked into this Score for Russia HOuse. :o)

  • Говорят фильм прикольный. Особенно то, как янки говорят по русски

  • Man, I want to cry.

  • Absolutely wonderful!

That said, I don't recall hearing it before on the album. Is it not there in this form or am I just being silly?

  • Gorgeous, melancholy love theme from one of my favorite "comfort' films. I've watched this movie (or parts of it) countless times. I never tire of it. First class cinematography--St. Petersburg never looked better. Connery and Pfeiffer are a joy to watch.

  • Love This!!

  • definatley one of JG's best themes and a very warm bit of music.

  • I like the version of this sung by Patty Austin. Someone should post that.

  • @DaftSwank I agree it is beautiful!!

  • Gives me the chills, every time...Can't help it!

  • nice one Gerry a little bit John Barryish.........of course thats good, we miss you mister Goldsmith.

  • This is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it probably 20 times. There are so many clever, quotable lines. I think the pivotal moment, the moment when she realizes that her feelings for him are recipocated, is when she says, "Welcome, Barley - welcome to the book fair," and he says "To hell with the book fair!"

  • Got to love this music, plot and filming of St.Petersburg!

  • AAAA. 091246Z FEB 2010 Thank you for posting........AR.

  • quelle B.O.!!! sublime...un vrai coup de coeur.

  • Très belle B.O

  • Thank U

  • This is unforgetable: " I LOVE YOU" ¡Great Movie!

  • ohhhh que gran pelicula, llego tarde, pero me encanta, y ese gran pais como Russia. Bello

  • Definitely Goldsmith's finest. BTW: on the soundtrack, the horn is Brandford Marseilles.

When Connery tells Michelle "I love you. It's like nothing I've ever felt before. It's grown up, thrilling love"

  • @ irarube

    That's a beautiful line.

But you left out the very best:

"You are my only country now."

That's the whole movie, in one perfect line.

  • @smartalek1

Yes. Thanks. That is a very poignant line. Cuts right to the core of the movie.

I also enjoyed James Fox's line about the "giving them the shopping list"..... It tells them what know, by telling them what we don't know, and it tells them what we would most like to know." Tom Stoppard is so very clever, don't you think?

  • A great movie that I love. And this theme is the best.

  • Where did this version come from? It's not on the soundtrack CD, and I doubt it's from the movie. Goldsmith was a better conductor and a more interesting orchestrator. ;-)

  • A great soundtrack, especially the saxophone track. An underrated film, very watchable.

  • I remember this movie - it was a little boring but still nice. Michelle Pfeiffer was brilliant

    I love theme music

  • Try to read the book Russia House - the masterpiece of John LeCarre.

The movie may become your favorite one after reading the whole story )))

  • This film is so annoying for me. It's on the tv so much - usually very late at night - and try as I might, and having seen it so often before, I still have to see it through.

It's marvellous and in particular for Jerry Goldsmith's score. Probably his very best!

  • Origianl Soundtract now available on itunes

  • Thanks for letting me know :-). I searched it on itunes a few months ago, but didn't find it then. Only found a re-recording of the main title that wasn't as nice as the original used on the movie.

  • KreamKat, which country are you living it? It's available from iTunes in Ireland. Not sure if this is the same selection of scores for all Europe.

  • I'm from Norway. It's available on the Norwegian itunes now as well. I've already bought it :-). Thanks again.

  • Great music for a suggestive movie. Thanks for posting it. Alessandro (Italy)
