When my dad picked me up from school today, this song was on. Right when i heard it, it sounded very familiar and i remembered hearing this song when i was four or five. i luv this song and i forgot all about it till today!
I had this album as a teen and forgot all about this song until I was searching for Bee Gees music and found it! wow! I can't believe how beautiful it is.....how talented this group was!
You're right - GREAT quality! I bought the original album.. nice to hear it without crackling ;o) Its kinda sad that in the vinyl days, the record buyer never ever heard what the music studio/producer/band did. If they did they'd probably say "oh I wouldn't buy that - its crap sound" LOL
@SpacehotelMusic this song is probably one of the best from them!!.. I can listen over and over again and always get a good feeling it's what we call COOL song..
Remember buying the album and falling in love wid dis tune. Still sounds class today. Such a class act, unique, talented, original, with the ability to write and compose. So sadly lacking today. Tune is made to love......
i first heard this song in 1979 on knxfm los angeles still have that great lp and cover. also a sad memorie heard on the plane on way to grandmother furnal age 79. thanks.
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! WHEN THIS ALBUM CAME OUT ,I WAS AN UNHAPPY LITTLE GIRL SUFFERING FROM MY PARENTS DIVORCE. WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG, IT UPLIFTED ME SO MUCH AND HELPED MY DEAL WITH THE LOSS AND SUFFERING.THANKS AGAIN!
This is an amazing song that I rank right up there with some of the Bee Gees greatest such as How Deep Is Your Love--it is a lovely, breezy melody and I love the title. One of my all-time favorite songs by the Bee Gees.
I'm 35 and the last time I heard this song i was 6 years old but it stayed in my head all this time. Didn't know the title but I knew it was by the Bee Gees. This is why I love you tube! I am so grateful that I was alive when music like this was being made. Thank you for the great share!!!
I heard this for the first and only time (until tonight), during a break, on the house system, in a club, on a gig, in 1981... I knew, immediately that I was in the presence of musical greatness. Thirty years later, and it's as memorable now as it was then.
This is the most harmonically adventurous Bee Gees tune ever recorded...
...and they still managed to work a pop hook into it, something that people can walk away from, whistling it.
@tuxguys Perfectly said. I heard a doco once on BBC radio & they anaylsed this song, peeling back all the layers (literally & figuratively) & said it was one of the finest pop songs ever written. I love how it's a mixture of falsetto & natural voice, how it builds dramatically, how there is a spiritual message but most of all, the fade-out: my favourite 90 seconds of any Gibb-written song. Magic, magic, magic.
I thought this song should been a single in the U. S. while the Bee Gees were still the hottest group on the planet. Had it been released right after "Love You Inside Out", it could've been their seventh consecutive #1 hit.
I remember this being released! and why is music always associated with good memories!, When this was first released it fitted in with all the other great songs between the mid 70's to mid 80's - Allways been my favourite this one.
Spirits Having Flown I never fell in love so easily. Where the four winds blow I carry on. I'd like to take you where my spirit flies: Through the empty skies. We go alone, Never before having flown. Faster than lightning is this heart of mine. In the face of time I carry on. I'd like to take you where my rainbow ends. Be my lover friend. We go alone, Never before having flown.
How can you say you've never heard it before? I know its not played that often, but i have heard it at least a few times over the years on the radio.I agree its a great song.
Played this to friends around for dinner and they didn't recognise it but did love it? Thought it was well known. It is immense, maybe we need to spread the word.

One of the best songs from Bee Gees. Back to 1975 driving along the beach with the radio on!!!!!. Oh what a beautiful time and memories!!! Thanks for posting,
song reminds me of katie watson of hendersonville, tennessee..she was awesome and so is the song...hi katie from from bill...we dated a long time ago...
oh my god .. this song make my heart bet more stronger .i've been serching it a long long time ..this song and (love you inside and out) have a really good ,amazing performancy and lyrics
They really could write great music. One song I really like from them is 'Never Gonna Give You Up' from Rick Astley. And 'Toy Boy' from Sinitta. Two songs who really are produced and arranged by the Bee Gees.
best song by the bee gees in their post-60's career. To Love Someone is their best song from the 60's and their best song of all time. Spirits Have Flown is their best song from the 70's and their second best song of all time. in my humble opinion...
It was played alot where I live. I work in radio, and I know how markets are tested for songs. Some markets never played this song more than a few times, if reaction didn't come from program directors of stations who spun this, or any song. Weird how the record companies choose ..and tell us what we like to hear.
Thank you for posting this! I first heard this track in the spring of 1980, just after a couple of friends and I flew down to Mt. St. Helens to photograph the early results of eruptions. The song always has reminded me of spring and upliftment of spirit, even in tumultuous times...
Fantastic song that I used to play over and OVER again as a girl.Fast forward 30 years and it still sounds fresh as I play it over and over again tonight!
there was nothing ever wrong with the Bee Gees. I wept when I heard of Maurices death. there will never now be an authentic "new" Bee Gees song. tragedy.

this has got to be one of the most underrated songs ever, it transports me back to 1979 a different world, i agree with you rajandavid what if we could turn back the time what would i do differently? where did those 30 years go? i blinked my eyes and now im middle aged. shit.
I feel the same, but I grew older... and never grew up. How sad is that(or is it)! But I'm sure that you have a beautiful life ahead of you. Smile when you look back. That is all we can do.

I am your hurricane, your fire in the sun.

How long must I wait?

From the moment you're there.

You'll never know what you have done for me.
You've broken all those rules I live upon.
And I'd like to take you to my Shangri-La,
Neither here nor far away from home,
Never before having flown.

Simply on of the best songs of this group. I can go back to 1975 any time I hear this music!!!. Thanks so much for posting.

It just puzzles me why such great songs from top to bottom don't even get aired on the radio. ???

this has got to be one of the most underrated songs ever, it transports me back to 1979 a different world, i agree with you rajandavid what if we could turn back the time what would i do differently? where did those 30 years go? i blinked my eyes and now im middle aged. shit.

I feel the same, but I grew older... and never grew up. How sad is that(or is it)! But I'm sure that you have a beautiful life ahead of you. Smile when you look back. That is all we can do.
