That's the problem. they aren't seeking treatment. They get caught, and then go to court ordered drug counseling. This exact thing happened to me when I was seventeen. There were 15 or so kids in the treatment center I was sent to. None of them wanted to be there, and none of them were taking it seriously. Yet people try to say "Marijuana is the #1 drug our children are in treatment for, it's a huge problem." Of course we're not taking the counseling seriously. It was a load of crap!
You arrest them, and then offer them some bullshit sentence, or the alternative to go to a treatment facility in which you will just have to stay off of pot for a few weeks/months.

Fay is just trying to legislate morality. The health care costs of Marijuana users are significantly lower than those of alcohol or tobacco users. Taxes generated from the legal sale of Marijuana would greatly outweigh the health costs associated with Marijuana use. Also Fays incessant rambling is a sign she has no idea what shes talking about. Marijuana, alcohol, and tobacco are completely different drugs. You can lump them into one category.

The funny thing this conversation left out is the fact that high school kids can not buy alcohol and cigarettes until they reach the legal age under controlled sales. Sales on the underground are not regulated, and no one gets carded. That's the problem. they aren't seeking treatment. They get caught, and then go to court ordered drug counseling. This exact thing happened to me when I was seventeen. There were 15 or so kids in the treatment center I was sent to. None of them wanted to be there, and none of them were taking it seriously. Yet people try to say "Marijuana is the #1 drug our children are in treatment for, it's a huge problem." Of course we're not taking the counseling seriously. It was a load of crap!

Well anyone who has seen The Union will know that the only reason why that may be true is because the kids who are caught smoking pot are given the choice of prison time / juvenile hall / some other horrible penalty, or going to a treatment center. Obviously, the kid is going to choose the treatment center over going to jail.

If she feels that the social cost outweigh the estimated tax revenue as far as health cost then why does'nt she feel that way about alcohol & cigarettes? The tax money from those 2 drugs doesn't cover the health issues & social cost either so bring back prohibition!!!!
