you probably already knew this but all you have to do is defend against ray until you learn ryu's GDragon power then use that.

i love fighting ray. it was fun trying to fight him and listen to the music. then i remember dying here when i was about to use the dragon :(

Emotional parts of the game. To characters are murdered, and someone sacrifices their life to bring out Ryu's power.
Gold Dragon is called Kaiser in the Japanese version. I will never understand why the name was changed.

OK Dave I know this video is from quite some time ago... BUT THAT WAS FRIKAN AWESOME!!!!! Great Dragon!!! OH YEA!!! Oh and I don't know if you ever figured it out but the amount of AP you have determines the amount of damage Ryu's special attacks do....except for Great Dragon I guess.

I believe Ray first came in when you rescued those people from the well and facehuggers. He taught a cure or renew spell to one of your party members, if I'm not mistaken. Don't remember if he came in any earlier than that though.

He was in Corsair (The coliseum town, don't know if thats the name) he revives Katt when she gets hit with the poison needle, I believe
