  • This is crazy!

  • Please: Black Rock 'n' Roll is Rhythm & Blues. Rock 'n' Roll is white. And I adore Rhythm & Blues and Rock 'n' Roll.

  • This makes me smile. :]

  • Marshall STILL stands up on his Bass during this song! Does anybody know what movie this is from and what year the movie came out?

  • This song is the first recognised rockabilly track on Billboard. This song showed the way!

  • @willpm100 i agree totally he was a great pioneer

  • Dig those crazy sport coats and the way those crazy cats jive with the saxaphone solo. Crazy, man!

  • bill haley paved the way for Many

  • @62Elvis This song paved the way and showed the way. The rockabilly fad started here. They proved that it was possible to combine both black and white music. It worked perfectly and hit billboard.

  • b haley & his comets classic song a true pioneer of r & roll

  • Crazy daddyo, this some farout stuff cat, keep on rockin' and rollin'!

  • I don't think this music completely gone. While it's mainstay on the charts has left, it's influence will remain for as long as there is a form of rock, R&B or swing music. There will be bands like The Stray Cats who might emerge & have obvious teachings and notes from greats like Bill Haley & His Comets.

  • can someone tell marshall lyle(the bassist) this is not surf rock?

  • que buen solo 1:00 - 1:30

    that good single 1:00 - 1:30 xd

  • In 1953, Haley's recording of "Crazy Man, Crazy" (co-written by Haley and his bass player, Marshall Lytle although Lytle would not receive credit until 2001) became the first rock and roll song to hit the American charts, peaking at no.15 on Billboard and no.11 on Cash Box. THIS IS HISTORY - GO EVERYBODY!!!!

  • Essex single Whoo Hoo!!!! Dig it Man.

  • This is the first rock n roll song folks!!! Go everybody!!!

  • The Rock-a-Billy Fad was born in 1953, when Crazy Man Crazy was recorded for the first time and it reached pop charts.

  • does anybody out there know the name of the bass player?

  • @mags0779 Al Rappa

  • "Crazy, Man Crazy" showed the way. Here is the First Dynasty of Rock and Roll. Long Live the King Bill Haley!!!!

  • I dont think people generally understand the importance of this record. It was the first "rock n roll" record to ever enter the charts (1953). The line "man that musics gone, gone" could be Bill Haley symbolising that this new genre of music is going to take over the preceeding popular genres such as rythm and blues, jazz and country. Who knows, but if thats the case he wasnt wrong.

  • @avfc81trussy The song was written after Haley heard one of his fans talking at a gig.

  • You would have to blind deaf and stupid to think so its an urban myth 99% of people know rock and rolls roots also why Did Bill Elvis Buddy and Jerry Lee all top the black rnb charts, lastly the great Fats domino was the second biggest selling artist of the 50,s with Ray Charles+ Nat King Cole not far behind

  • What most people don't know is that, up until the early '50s, Bill Haley was a C&W artist, doing country (it was called "Hillbilly") and yodeling his head off! He started doing rockabilly/r&r because he saw there was money in it.. He was far from an innovator: Any record collector will tell you that r&r's roots were in the black rhythm and blues of the mid-late 1940's. Haley, Presley, etc., were NOT innovators: They simply made black R&B accessible to the masses because they were white!

  • Crazy man, just crazy.

  • Man that music`s goin`!

  • whatyris this from?

  • @clcs13

This clip is taken from the movie "round up of rhythm" from 1954. At that time Bill Haley and the Comets recorded the legendary "rock around the clock". Bill Haley died in 1981 at the age of 55 due to a fatal attack in his sleep. He didn`t have to suffer. Now he`s in rock`n`roll heaven.

  • Pure genius. Avant garde.

  • GO FUCKING WILD!!!

  • straight fuckign goods i love this 50's shit bill and his comets ARE LEGENDS !!

  • Now thats how a band should perfrom

  • They look like wedding band from the 1970's

  • Brilliant. You can feel that deep sound from the cello, the fast tempo and the great way the band works together.

  • Yes Mr Versatile

  • first rock n roll song on the Billboard. All musicians today owe it to this man.

  • @Weidenberg I know thats why I think people today should give it to him

  • Wow, that's so happy and funny! This is the real sound of 50's rock'n'roll music!

  • They were great musicians but also talented showmen - I remember seeing those antics (balancing on the double bass) in a television appearance and thinking "these guys must be American!" - as our own British performers woud never move like that until many, many years later. I had this record amongst others in my 78 rpm collection, and was always considered a "square" at school 'cos I liked this kinda stuff. I just wish I still had that collection!

  • Sent shivers down my spine.

    Quite definitive.

  • still the first king of rock and roll
