Go James Lankford! It honestly makes me feel emotional to watch him speak. He is a great great man! I wish there were more men like him in Britain. We have some great pro-life people but we don't have the same platform as Americans have to speak about pro-life issues. One day we'll get there!! I think abortion will be illegal in the US first and then the UK will eventually follow. I can't wait until that beautiful day!
Thank you Rep. James Lankford. I have never heard a more accurate, eloquent speech on protecting unborn children. I've noticed that all those sharing have been born; so apparently their mom was pro-life. You are loved by your creator and so are the unborn babies.
I may not agree with a pro life position but I respect it but when you say a woman pregnant due to rape will be forced to give birth to the rapist baby and have no say in the matter they that view needs to be dismissed outright. Also ask these extreme pro life people does the right to "Pursue extend to Gay Citizens" ?
7 billion people on earth and this douchebag slimeball wants to see to it that my generation along with that of my son may be looking at food shortages? Ugh, why the fuck am I FROM Oklahoma? It's weasels like this and bigots like Sally Kern that get Oklahomans branded as ignorant nuts...Please realize that not everyone in this fair state is as narrow-minded as this gentleman appears to be...
the right to life is intrinsically linked to our human nature, not to a religious ideal (or to a civil law, for that matter). we possess the right to life by virtue of the inherent dignity that accords our existence as a human being. and since this dignity is defined by the order of nature, we claim a right to it--and therefore to life--from the first moment we possess human nature, which is the first moment of our individual existence, which is conception.
None of the fundies (who believe human rights begin at conception and end at birth) can rationalize the millions of abortions (called, speaking of euphemisms) "miscarriages") obviously caused by his nasty god. He really needs to MHOFB.
Okay for the GOP who oppose abortions and I am not saying it is okay to do a bunch of them but for the GOP I have to ask what do we do if a teenage girl gets raped and gets pregnant and the baby's dad is the guy who raped her what do we do then does she have to keep the kid that connects her to the sick person who raped her and does she have to keep a did she didn't want to have or can she say "Okay this baby wasn't intended I'll go have an abortion" I believe in cases like that they are okay...
@railfanstreator94 In cases of incest it is almost always the aggressor who impregnated the girl who forces her to undergo an abortion. For the pregnant victim, allowing her child to be carried to term is the best evidence to convict the rapist, and he knows it. It also frees him of any punishment and allows him to continue abusing her undetected. Women deserve better than abortion.
@crawfordroses yeah I am not trying to say it SHOULD be used I am neutral on the subject but yes it may be the best evidence but the woman wouldn't want that pervert in her life she wouldn't want anything to do with the person so yes it may be evidence like "Okay here is the baby he helped me make" but that would not be a good memory and unless she had a man in her life she would be left as the only parent of the kid while he was in jail for what he did to her.
Since it is so important to this gentleman that human life be preserved, under all circumstances, I assume Mr. Lankford must be adamantly opposed to war and the death penalty. If abortion is never justified bc it ends a human life, then war is never justified for exactly the same reason. Abortion, war, capital punishment, etc. are legally sanctioned methods of terminating human life. Each is necessary and justifiable under certain circumstances. You cannot oppose one w/out opposing them all.
@JBlue761982 The basic principles behind these two forms of legalized killing are fundamentally different. Behind legal abortion is the principle that the life of the unborn child does not have intrinsic value, and therefore the state may withdraw protection from that life. Behind the death penalty is the principle that the life of the convicted criminal has so much value that to take that life constitutes the ultimate penalty society can impose. there is a clear contradiction between (cont)
@crawfordroses (cont) opposing the execution of human beings guilty of heinous crimes and supporting the abortion of innocent unborn human beings. In short, our laws value the lives of criminals more than the lives of innocent unborn children. That is a shameful tragedy.
As someone from Oklahoma, I'm offended that our Representatives quote the Bible when one of our founding principles is the separation of church and state. I'm also offended when a man who was an evangelist uses his speaking skill and his influence to run for office and muck up our government with religion. I used to respect you James. You were a highlight of Falls Creek and YEC, but now, I don't know what to think. You've become part of the political machine.
I am surprised that we still tolerate representatives quoting religious texts written thousands of years ago to address current issues. What has scripture offered to medicine or technology? We seek the counsel of a doctor and the comfort of a priest when we have cancer ... not the other way around.
Additionally, he speaks of the inalienable rights of fetuses, but stands against the rights taxpayers who get no marital protection because they are gay.
This guy is a clown. He is the poster boy for abortion. Just another evangelical that knows absolutely nothing. America is getting dumb with idiots like this in congress.
@NateHickey He is a well known evangelical and he quoted the bible at the begining of his speech. Quoting the bible on the floor of congress in should be aborted. Evangelicals are just dumb ignorant folk.
@DeNiroFan23 he was stating the direct relationship between what that said and what the constitution clearly states, you don't have to be religious to point that out.
@NateHickey Quoting the bible on the floor of congress has the same affect as quoting the koran. The abortion debate will be resolved when science proves when life begins, and not what some inconsistent book that was written haphazardly by various authors too many years ago. If you want to prove your point in a debate, leave religion out of it. In the meantime, if you're against abortion, you have the right not to have one.
Very refreshing speech. How many after even one term in Washington will agree with this man? Why do they get sooooo corrupted. Im a former fetus also and abhor the thought of murdering innocent children that didnt even have the choice to exist. We made them with procreation. That makes them our responsibility to take care of, not murder. Its nothing less then slavery and genocide. This also is a state issue, Feds have no place here.
Come on right wingers! Adopt a few dozen unwanted children! Really make a difference in someones life positively, instead of being nosey, negative judges of others! If every time you thought about telling someone else what they can or can't do, you went and adopted a child, life here on earth would be so much better! Go get em tigers!
WOW! This should have been lead news story on every network to finally deliver us from an indefensible legal position justifying murder of our children!
Most of the pro choice opinions seem to be missing the point. As one person noted, it is supposed to protect the choice of the mother to have an abortion or not to have one... what people seem to be missing is that those of us speaking out on this subject are only trying to speak for the unborn child who isn't given the chance to choose for themself because their mother may choose to kill them before they have any opportunities. I am not against you, I am for the child's right to live.
@cherylg2006 what we are saying is that until it grows to a specific point (eg. late term abortion bans) it does not have the same rights as an adult. The rights that you ascribe to the embryo are only done so because of a religious ideal. Our country exists on the principle that no one should be subject to the religious views of another. too often you assume that religion = moral and that is not always the case. it is wrong to enforce that view on another who may not hold the same conviction
@IamAloha i dont want my tax dollars killing the civilians in Iraq or Afghanistan. also a new study just released by the American Psychological Association and The New England Journal of Medicine shows that you are more likely to have a mental health problem carrying a pregnancy to full term than if you have an abortion. another article from a peer reviewed journal from Harvard shows legalized abortion has brought about a decline in the crime rate. 2 great reasons to keep this choice available
@redmoos3 funding our military does not intrinsically mean that we are funding the deaths of civilians anymore than driving a car means you support auto accident deaths.
@redmoos3 The most basic function of government is to honor God by protecting the inherent rights of its citizens. Providing national defense is a part of this function, so it ought to be funded. Your question is a loaded one because it lumps together "national defense" with "unjust wars that abuse the military under the questionable pretense of 'national defense.'" Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan--as well as abortion--are all attacks on the right to life of human beings.
@darkshadow01290 or the choice to keep it. dont you see it protects both. thats why they call it a choice. they leave your in your own hands.you only want to outlaw abortion because you have no faith in your god. you dont have enough faith to teach your own daughters from having this procedure. you failed to raise your children in your old fashioned beliefs. there is a new generation full of joy that is throwing away your dirty old chain of lies and intolerance.
@redmoos3 oh i have no faith in my God for protecting an innocent life that makes a lot of sense haha! Besides i have no children because i did the one most important thing to prevent abortion in the first place, ABSTINENCE.
The sad thing is that some people believe that a fetus with human DNA, human emotions, and a human mind doesn't have human rights until it magically receives them by emerging from its mother's birth canal. If the gov can take away the right to life of an unborn child, it can do the same to you or me in an instant.
Thank you for standing up for sooo many!!! Your voice is powerful because you speak the truth, you are a true leader that I will continue to respect! KEEP IT UP!
EXCELLENT! This Rep. is sooo right. Our gov't has protected all these other organisms that aren't even human... but allowing abortion.... something is very wrong with that!
@al007italia i dont understand why you think he is courageous for telling you what you want to hear. courage is a young girl frightened and scared taking control of her life. even though the religious right doesnt hesitate to condemn her to hell rather than even attempting to understand. this is the truest form of evil. preying on young scared women. you should be ashamed of yourself
@redmoos3 Wrong, those of us in the pro-life movement that you label the religious right offer her alternatives to killing the baby. We support & run crisis pregnancy centers so that the child can live & the mother can have alternatives to killing the child. We do NOT condemn her to hell & I very much resent you slandering us by making that claim. Next time make sure of your facts rather than repeating the lies pro-aborts spread about us to demonize us.
@redmoos3 Oh we "understand." We understand abortion may sound good at the time, but most women who have had abortions regret it later. We understand the importance of showing compassion to those that have or will have abortions since those people were the victims manipulated by people who took advantage of her fear to make a profit by killing her child. Abortion is the ultimate mistreatment of women still alive and well in America.
@YaWhatIThoughtYa regret is your reason. when you strip away all of your religion all you can say is dont do it you may regret it. if i lived my life out of fear of regret it could hardly be called living. and what kind of sick person thinks the prospect of getting an abortion sounds good. no woman looks forward to that difficult moment in a her life. but sometimes people way the pros and cons, think critically, and make a judgment call for their own life. you want to take that chance to reason
@YaWhatIThoughtYa you want to force a bureaucratic system to strip people of choice. the simple human dignity of deciding your own path. i wont force you to give up your right to religion (in my opinion the greatest evil). your priests and your pastors continue to steal from innocent people. to molest children and cover it up. to stand outside of the funerals of fallen soldiers shouting to grieving families how their beloved child deserved death. to incite violence by burning the Koran
@YaWhatIThoughtYa in the name of christ people were tortured in the inquisition because they didnt believe the earth was the center of the universe. in his name arabs were hunted down by a delusional king who believed he had a divine mandate from god to wage a holy crusade. it was by divine right that kings ruled with a brutal iron fist using the church to steal from commoners.
@YaWhatIThoughtYa it is in the name of your christ that mega churches are built where the pastors are found to be engaging in the same sexual behavior they condemn. i grew up in a very christian home with a grandfather who was a high standing member of the southern baptist convention. a father who is an associate pastor. and was only sent to private christian school. for the first 22 years of my life if i felt as you. i know what im talking about.
@YaWhatIThoughtYa i saw the hate doled out to homosexuals and minorities and scientists. you have not known decisiveness or back stabbing until you have been part of a church. go read the new testament and everywhere the pharisees are mentioned listen up. that is for you.
@carendale not really sure what you are getiing at. unless you mean that i know women and have the common sense not to force stone age thinking down their throats. its simple if you dont like abortion dont have one. no one is forcing you.
@redmoos3 Actually if you go to any planned parenthood, or a clinic, abortion is what is described. but all the facts are hidden from them.
It is note "stone age thinking" The fetus in the woman is not her own. She is in charge of caring for it, and loving it. But does she have 2 heads? 2 hearts? 4 arms? no. of course not. Science backs that the fetus is a living human being. If a pro-abortion (or the ironic, pro choice) advocate can't properly prove the fetus is not a human being, then
@UndergrndSound dont be so silly. the point is that you want to protect an embryo and i dont think an embryo constitutes human life. any more than an acorn is an oak tree. yes both things contain all of the necessary information to create what they should but that doesnt make them the same. the earliest you can scientifically say that life starts is somewhere between 6 and 9 weeks when the brain begins to function. until then its not truly life. thats just my opinion and i wont force it by law
i have never seen more ignorant "believers" in my life. You forget that you share this country with people who dont believe in your god no matter how hard you try to force them to. you are blinded to reality. You cant control another persons body no matter how hard you try. to do so goes against the principles this country was founded on. your ignorance is making our founding fathers spin in their graves. thomas jefferson would weep hearing you now.
@redmoos3 -- it is more like the right to produce life or the right to take a life. The woman should have thought what was best for her before she got herself knocked up.
@MyrnaMcGhie this is what is fundamentally wrong with your views and this is where you show your ignorance. not everyone gets pregnant by choice dipshit
@redmoos3 -- Oh? So tell me, why doesn't everyone get pregnant by choice? Have you done any research on how many women get abortions because of rape? If a woman isn't raped, why would she engage in sex with someone she wouldn't want to have a child with? This, in my view, shows you ignorance.
@MyrnaMcGhie i guess you dont know that people have sex and arent trying to have a baby. they do it because it feels amazing! the thing is even if it is one case of rape or incest then your view will condemn them. yet i will choose to love them no matter what choice they make. its clear by your post that you not only want to regulate womens bodies but men as well. you cant stop people from fucking. you will fail every time.
@redmoos3 -- Thank you for all of your comments. I read them all and found it odd that you've jumped to so many conclusions from the few questions I asked. From that you say I'm ignorant about why people have sex, I'm an evil nun with my ruler smacking those who don't fit in to my narrow minded cookie cutter view of the world, and I don't love others who are different than me and condemn them and their life style, and don't try to understand. I also want to regulate people's bodies. Wow!
@MyrnaMcGhie in my opinion trying to control anyone's body other than their own or the minors in their care is an evil way to live. you do want to regulate peoples bodies and their sexuality to conform to a judeo christian world view. that is the sickening truth that lies behind the evil eyes of someone like lankford.
@redmoos3 -- Where did I say that I want to regulate peoples bodies and their sexuality to conform to a Judeo Christian world view? Aren't you being presumptuous?
You amaze me. You think that trying to protect the right to live is evil? And trying to teach the ways of love, kindness and good values are evil? All I can say, again, is Wow!
@MyrnaMcGhie i assume that because those are the values of lankford. you call it protecting the right to life but you wont admit its really just hating those that are different from you. and i dont have to force my opinions on anyone the US constitution is on my side. i know your brand of love and kindness. its only a thin veil for you to hide behind. a woman has the right to choose if and when she wants children and you want that right stripped away. that is sick
@redmoos3 I agree mother has the right to decide if & when she wants children: she can use birth control. If abortion is simply a medical procedure, women who have had abortions aren't different than ppl who haven't, so ur comment about him hating ppl different from him contradicts ur own beliefs. How is killing infants in the name of ur beliefs not forcing ur beliefs onto others?
@redmoos3 I think you are the person who hates ppl different than u: u hate ppl with human DNA, human minds, and human emotions by denying them their self-evident human rights. If ppl have the right to decide if and when they "have children", doesn't that imply a fetus was a child 2 begin with? Or do u believe fetuses aren't children until they r magically given human rights from the human rights faerie once they emerge from their mothers' birth canals?
@YaWhatIThoughtYa that still doesnt give you the right to control a womans body. abortion is just a medical procedure. an unborn embryo is no more a person than an egg is a chicken. there is a line to be drawn on when abortions can and should be performed. im not talking about late term abortion where you have a fully developed fetus. there are lines to be drawn but you must draw your own. all i want is to protect the right to draw your own.
@redmoos3 -- Abortion is JUST a medical procedure??? Have you seen one performed? I have seen videos of abortions and it is more like an execution! I saw a 13 week "fetus" delivered and the doctor stabbed it in the back of the head with scissors and then sucked it's brains out. It had little body, head and tiny little hands and feet...hardly just a chicken egg. It even started kicking and tried to get away. It was tiny person, feeling the pain!!! That is what I call evil!
@MyrnaMcGhie jesus did you just not read what i wrote? this is pointless. you cant stay on track. so i cant waste anymore of my time on your ignorance.
redmoos3 – Accuse and judge me all you want. I happen to believe abortion is wrong. It's my right to have an opinion? I admit I hate abortion but, no, I don’t hate women who have them. What makes you think I would hate anyone that is different from me? Of course women have a right to choose when they want children. Until then, there are many ways to prevent pregnancy, and there is no good excuse not to use them. If couples acted responsibly, abortion wouldn’t be necessary.
@MyrnaMcGhie that is fantastic you have a strong conviction on this issue and i dont ask you to change your own opinions only to respect what the rest of the country has decided is appropriate. if everyone acted responsibly than nothing bad would ever happen. but unfortunately we dont live in a world like that. not all people are smart and understand when it is right to have children. the stripping of this freedom will eventually lead to the death of america.
@redmoos3 -- You have me laughing out loud -- you are very amusing. I don't have a desire to regulate anyone's body but my own and no wish to try to stop people from enjoying their mates sexually. Moreover, I didn't make this a religious issue. I know women who have had abortions and have realized that abortion isn't about a woman's body, it is about her baby's body. It is a decision to either kill or to allow her baby to live and be adopted out if she doesn't want the child.
@MyrnaMcGhie and yes i have done my research i grew up pro life. my mother was on the board of a crisis pregnancy center that reached out to girls to encourage them to keep their unborn. if you cared for these people then that is where you would be. but you dont. its easier for you to comment ignorantly. abortions wont be forced on people. so if you want to change things why dont you get your hands dirty. religion has no place in politics.
@MyrnaMcGhie you dont want to do the work of truly loving another human being that is different for you. its just easier for you to condemn them and their life style than to ever try and understand it. how can you hold people who dont follow your faith accountable. they have a right in this country to live a life where they can choose and dont have to have the restraints of a failed religion holding them back from becoming productive members of society.
@MyrnaMcGhie open your eyes. this is real life and its not always going to be as beautiful as disney story. its brutal full of evil and evil people. but shining through all of this is the beauty of humanity. a species that has worked together for thousands of years somehow overcoming amazing obstacles. and your line of thinking discredits the human race. just because you dont have faith in humanity doesnt mean everyone has lost their faith to.
@MyrnaMcGhie its time you stop playing the roll of the evil nun with your ruler smacking those who dont fit in to your narrow minded cookie cutter view of the world.
@redmoos3 God aside, the right to life is self evident here. Science itself backs the pro life issue. A pro choice advocate always steers clear of science, because they can't prove the fetus is not a human being.
You forget that you live in a country where you can not harm another human being. Well, the human being is being harmed. And its one who can't talk.
I realize that those who are for abortion have already been born.
@redmoos3 -- Sorry for our ignorance, but there are people who think differently than you, and my observation is that you are equally guilty of trying to force your ideas upon others. I don't see people trying to control others any more than you are. One side is concerned about our Constitutional right to live and the other is fighting about the right to kill. I think I know what our Founding Fathers would be weeping over...and it wouldn't be over the arguments on the side of life.
@jsmizzle999 you said as long as there are supporters of abortion it will always be legal...by that rationale slavery would still be legal...perhaps the Holocaust would still be going on. Abortion is wrong, plain and simple. It stems from evil, it manifests evil, and it produces more evil. Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, was also evil. Look up what she had to say about the value of human life.
Well spoken, I agree 100%, BUT by the same token, to all those who follow the right wing agenda. Is'nt ethical health care a human right? Why should people die after insurance co. death panels, deny them care? Why should people and their families lose health care with jobs? Why must workers wait 90 days for new health care after starting a new job? When the Right and Left start caring for ALL life, then they will have some semblance of credibility.
@emptynester7985 thats the first intelligent comment from someone who agrees with lankford. im pretty sure jesus was the biggest supporter of universal healthcare
Thank you so much Rep James Lankford.. What clarity you speak with. This needs to reverberate all across the world!!! Keep speaking up. Abortion has to stop NOW!!! This heinous, evil crime is so horrible that it is impossible to get my mind around it..Praying for this man's conversion, but also praying for innocent women and precious BABIES-- they need a voice to speak on their behalf, for protection, just like you have... I don't want my money paying for this evil. We are all victims now!!!
Although it is commendable that he stand up for what he believes in, he's fighting a losing battle. Pro-lifers can't compromise. Pro-choice say, "Abortion till 3 months along," Pro-life says, "never." Pro-choice says, "... 2 months along?" Pro-life: NEVER! You guys ca't compromise!
@Jsmizzle999 It's not po-lfiers that won't compromise. It's a fact of life that won't compromise. The baby is a baby, a living being from the moment of conception. Killing a "2 months along" is no worse a thing than killing the person next to you.
@Hirukaki Arguable. And if you think calling that piece of tissue inside a woman a baby is going to convince me you're very wrong. At 2 months a baby is like a parasite. It exists only to feed off of the host. It has no higher order of operation until it is born. Regardless of your feeling, abortion will always be legal. Roe V. Wade kid.
@Jsmizzle999 Thing is, it's YOU calling the baby inside the woman a piece of tissue, not the other way around. People started calling the very young un-born babies "pieces of tissue" and "fetuses" to make a disconnect between the reality of the killing of the baby and the fantasy of the thought that a baby is only a parasite till it's born. I say again, a baby is a baby, no matter how small.
@Hirukaki Nice one, Dr. Seuss. And the technical word for an unborn baby is a fetus, therefore, when you call an unborn baby a baby YOU are wrong. It IS a fetus. And no one is calling them "pieces of tissue" as that implies that they are not whole but rather tissue in and of itself does the job just fine.
@Jsmizzle999 This show the extent of the hardness and coldness of mans heart. This is pure evil and comes from the one who hates all babies, the demon called Satan.
@fireman1173005 Exactly and I truly believe that you can't tell someone what to do with their body! You guys have already lost! Abortion IS legal in most states and will eventually be legal in all of them.
@Jsmizzle999 Absolutely no compromise. You can't compromise on absolute truth. No matter how you twist the issue...murder is murder. The only difference between an unborn baby, an infant, a toddler, a teenager, an adult, an elderly person is time. They are all human beings. Why is it ok in your mind to invade the womb and rip off the head of a fetus and tear it out...but for the doctor to stab the baby literally hours later is wrong? The difference is maybe 4 hours. Murder is murder.
Thank you representative Lankford for stating so eloquently what so many of us feel and know. I was one of those Gloria Stenheim lied to many years ago.
Thank you representative Langford for stating so eloquently what so many of us feel and know. I was one of those Gloria Stenheim lied to many years ago.
I personally don't agree with abortion, although I will not look down on someone who has one. I know several people who have. What it boils down to is that I don't want to pay for my insurance that includes payment to make it possible for someone else to have one. If they want one, they can have it on their insurance or pay for it themselves. Rep. Lankford's speech is about repealing Obama-Care as much as it is about abortion.
Rep. Lankford does not present abortion as a Christian issue. He never says that God condemns abortion. Rather, he believes that our founding American principals proclaim the right to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" and is appalled that we recognize those rights after birth, but are curiously blind to them during the pregnancy. Is abortion an easy answer to various social problems? Sure. Choosing life is harder. But is convenience going to the the defining factor on this issue?
Pro-lifers and pro-choicers always seem to argue in circles, "its about life", "its about choice"... For 99% of pro-lifers, its not about controlling people or getting to tell people what to do, its about protecting what we believe is a LIFE (at the very, very least a developing life). There is a reason why 3d ultrasounds are used in so many pregnancy crisis centers as deterrents for abortions, because they show the mother LIFE and what she carries is a child not a choice.
stop forcing a small minded christian view on a nation of people who dont all agree with you. just because you choose to bind yourself to an ancient law does not mean the rest of us have to. you are no worse than the Taliban keeping women in fear by throwing acid in their faces. only the acid you use is shame and humiliation. so if you dont want one dont get one but dont be such a brood of vipers and white washed tombstones for that is what your christ would call you if he could see you now.
@redmoos3 To address you last statement first, Christ would call this man His brother. Christ is the one who said, "Allow the little children to come to Me." He wasn't saying to kill them before they're born so they could come to Him early! You need to wake up from your blind politically correct mindset and let a little truth shine in. People like you are so full of hate and bigotry for all things good and right that you can't stop yourself from letting that hate bleed out into your speech.
@angler021 you need to wake up from your 2000 year old slumber and see that a religion based on hate has no room in the future of the human race. if you dont like abortion dont have one. you have no right (man or god given) to control another persons body if there is no harm done to you. not to mention the positive benefits brought to society as a whole. i once agreed with you and most likely with more conviction until i chose logic and reason and not a blind devotion religion of hate.
@redmoos3 I understand that no one has the right to control another person's body. But then, shouldn't a pregnant woman have no right to kill her unborn child? A human being that has no means of defending itself?
@redmoos3 "A religion based on hate"?? You really need to do some research on the Judeo-Christian worldview and quit reciting your mindless politically correct drivel. You're so wrapped up in this issue that you can't see past your own nose. You think everyone who is "religious" is evil. Don't confuse abuses in the name of "religion" as representative of Christianity. Do some homework. Its easy to put everyone in a box and label them. Abortion IS controlling another person's body - the baby's.
@redmoos3 It is YOU who speaks from a religion of hatred which is called Satanism. You seem to know nothing and speaking nothing but hatred in every single comment, what is sad is that you have no knowledge of God or Christianity because you have spoken lies and falsehoods. Those who side with evil things like taking a life of another human being no matter how little they are or what stage of life they are in, will be held accountable for every life taken through this act of MURDER!
I see a lot of people talk about the potential social problems of having abortion be illegal but if you think about it this way you might disagree......
What if we valued human life fully? Maybe if we all valued human life we would choose not to bed anyone and everyone, we would not kill our neighbor or stranger alike, we would think more carefully about how we use our resourses and how we treat the earth. we would care for our brothers and sisters. Just a thought.
@Lentenlands So long as you can't compromise you can't win! Nothing is done solely to please one group. So long as there are people who support abortion it will always be an issue. Especially because of the label you guys give yourselves as supporters of life. No one listens to Christians in politics. You should all just wait for your god to make his second coming and burn all of us in Hell.
@Jsmizzle999 No, compromise with evil is evil. There should be no compromise from the absolute truth of the right to life for ALL. You are advocating nonsense.
The Founders pointed out that God given rights exist for EVERY person. It was compromise with devils among us who found it convenient to murder their children that created the worst injustice man has ever known, the infanticide of America.
There should be no compromise with insanity, stupidity, evil, foolishness or nonsense.

Thank you Rep. Lankford for having the courage to speak up for what is right. Thanks for helping the government to be for the PEOPLE and not the POLITICIANS. You are the man as far as I'm concerned!
@kenbock2 You're totally missing the point. Keeping sperm and eggs separated is not the same as terminating the life AFTER they meet. No one accuses a university of abortion as they do their best to keep sperm away from eggs by rooming the men and women in separate buildings.
Fellow Christians I know that debate on this issue can get you angry for the innocent babies who are being killed. Please control yourselves to only righteous anger toward the issue of abortion, not the people that you are debating because when you being Christian cuss them, show anger, or condescending nature it does not represent the love of Christ at all. I'm moving to OK! Wow! To have someone in a leadership position such as he holds is a blessing of God. I pray that he continues to fight for what is godly and right, and that God protects him from those who would disagree.

Also ask these extreme pro life people does the right to "Pursue extend to Gay Citizens" ?

the right to life is intrinsically linked to our human nature, not to a religious ideal (or to a civil law, for that matter). we possess the right to life by virtue of the inherent dignity that accords our existence as a human being. and since this dignity is defined by the order of nature, we claim a right to it--and therefore to life--from the first moment we possess human nature, which is the first moment of our individual existence, which is conception.
lenzbri 6 months ago
None of the fundies (who believe human rights begin at conception and end at birth) can rationalize the millions of abortions (called, speaking of euphemisms) "miscarriages") obviously caused by his nasty god. He really needs to MHOFB.

Okay for the GOP who oppose abortions and I am not saying it is okay to do a bunch of them but for the GOP I have to ask what do we do if a teenage girl gets raped and gets pregnant and the baby's dad is the guy who raped her what do we do then does she have to keep the kid that connects her to the sick person who raped her and does she have to keep a did she didn't want to have or can she say "Okay this baby wasn't intended I'll go have an abortion" I believe in cases like that they are okay...
railfanstreator94 7 months ago
@railfanstreator94 In cases of incest it is almost always the aggressor who impregnated the girl who forces her to undergo an abortion. For the pregnant victim, allowing her child to be carried to term is the best evidence to convict the rapist, and he knows it. It also frees him of any punishment and allows him to continue abusing her undetected. Women deserve better than abortion.
crawfordroses 7 months ago
@crawfordroses yeah I am not trying to say it SHOULD be used I am neutral on the subject but yes it may be the best evidence but the woman wouldn't want that pervert in her life she wouldn't want anything to do with the person so yes it may be evidence like "Okay here is the baby he helped me make" but that would not be a good memory and unless she had a man in her life she would be left as the only parent of the kid while he was in jail for what he did to her.
railfanstreator94 7 months ago
Since it is so important to this gentleman that human life be preserved, under all circumstances, I assume Mr. Lankford must be adamantly opposed to war and the death penalty. If abortion is never justified bc it ends a human life, then war is never justified for exactly the same reason. Abortion, war, capital punishment, etc. are legally sanctioned methods of terminating human life. Each is necessary and justifiable under certain circumstances. You cannot oppose one w/out opposing them all.
JBlue761982 7 months ago
@JBlue761982 The basic principles behind these two forms of legalized killing are fundamentally different. Behind legal abortion is the principle that the life of the unborn child does not have intrinsic value, and therefore the state may withdraw protection from that life. Behind the death penalty is the principle that the life of the convicted criminal has so much value that to take that life constitutes the ultimate penalty society can impose. there is a clear contradiction between (cont)
crawfordroses 7 months ago

As someone from Oklahoma, I'm offended that our Representatives quote the Bible when one of our founding principles is the separation of church and state. I'm also offended when a man who was an evangelist uses his speaking skill and his influence to run for office and muck up our government with religion. I used to respect you James. You were a highlight of Falls Creek and YEC, but now, I don't know what to think. You've become part of the political machine.
StJimmy918 10 months ago
I am surprised that we still tolerate representatives quoting religious texts written thousands of years ago to address current issues. What has scripture offered to medicine or technology? We seek the counsel of a doctor and the comfort of a priest when we have cancer ... not the other way around.
Additionally, he speaks of the inalienable rights of fetuses, but stands against the rights taxpayers who get no marital protection because they are gay.
What century is this?

NateHickey 10 months ago
@NateHickey He is a well known evangelical and he quoted the bible at the begining of his speech. Quoting the bible on the floor of congress in should be aborted. Evangelicals are just dumb ignorant folk.
DeNiroFan23 10 months ago
@DeNiroFan23 he was stating the direct relationship between what that said and what the constitution clearly states, you don't have to be religious to point that out.
NateHickey 10 months ago
@NateHickey Quoting the bible on the floor of congress has the same affect as quoting the koran. The abortion debate will be resolved when science proves when life begins, and not what some inconsistent book that was written haphazardly by various authors too many years ago. If you want to prove your point in a debate, leave religion out of it. In the meantime, if you're against abortion, you have the right not to have one.

I am not against you, I am for the child's right to live.
cherylg2006 1 year ago 6

2 great reasons to keep this choice available
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 funding our military does not intrinsically mean that we are funding the deaths of civilians anymore than driving a car means you support auto accident deaths.
jutemankif 1 year ago
@redmoos3 The most basic function of government is to honor God by protecting the inherent rights of its citizens. Providing national defense is a part of this function, so it ought to be funded. Your question is a loaded one because it lumps together "national defense" with "unjust wars that abuse the military under the questionable pretense of 'national defense.'" Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan--as well as abortion--are all attacks on the right to life of human beings.

@redmoos3 Wrong, those of us in the pro-life movement that you label the religious right offer her alternatives to killing the baby. We do NOT condemn her to hell & I very much resent you slandering us by making that claim. Next time make sure of your facts rather than repeating the lies pro-aborts spread about us to demonize us.
al007italia 1 year ago 2
@redmoos3 Oh we "understand." We understand abortion may sound good at the time, but most women who have had abortions regret it later. We understand the importance of showing compassion to those that have or will have abortions since those people were the victims manipulated by people who took advantage of her fear to make a profit by killing her child. Abortion is the ultimate mistreatment of women still alive and well in America.
YaWhatIThoughtYa 1 year ago
@YaWhatIThoughtYa regret is your reason. when you strip away all of your religion all you can say is dont do it you may regret it. if i lived my life out of fear of regret it could hardly be called living. and what kind of sick person thinks the prospect of getting an abortion sounds good. no woman looks forward to that difficult moment in a her life. but sometimes people way the pros and cons, think critically, and make a judgment call for their own life. you want to take that chance to reason
redmoos3 1 year ago
@YaWhatIThoughtYa you want to force a bureaucratic system to strip people of choice. the simple human dignity of deciding your own path. i wont force you to give up your right to religion (in my opinion the greatest evil). your priests and your pastors continue to steal from innocent people. to molest children and cover it up. to stand outside of the funerals of fallen soldiers shouting to grieving families how their beloved child deserved death. to incite violence by burning the Koran

MyrnaMcGhie 1 year ago
@MyrnaMcGhie i guess you dont know that people have sex and arent trying to have a baby. they do it because it feels amazing! the thing is even if it is one case of rape or incest then your view will condemn them. yet i will choose to love them no matter what choice they make. its clear by your post that you not only want to regulate womens bodies but men as well. you cant stop people from fucking. you will fail every time.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 -- Thank you for all of your comments. I read them all and found it odd that you've jumped to so many conclusions from the few questions I asked. @MyrnaMcGhie in my opinion trying to control anyone's body other than their own or the minors in their care is an evil way to live. you do want to regulate peoples bodies and their sexuality to conform to a judeo christian world view. that is the sickening truth that lies behind the evil eyes of someone like lankford.

redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 I agree mother has the right to decide if & when she wants children: she can use birth control. If abortion is simply a medical procedure, women who have had abortions aren't different than ppl who haven't, so ur comment about him hating ppl different from him contradicts ur own beliefs. How is killing infants in the name of ur beliefs not forcing ur beliefs onto others?
YaWhatIThoughtYa 1 year ago
@redmoos3 I think you are the person who hates ppl different than u: u hate ppl with human DNA, human minds, and human emotions by denying them their self-evident human rights. If ppl have the right to decide if and when they "have children", doesn't that imply a fetus was a child 2 begin with? Or do u believe fetuses aren't children until they r magically given human rights from the human rights faerie once they emerge from their mothers' birth canals?
YaWhatIThoughtYa 1 year ago
@YaWhatIThoughtYa that still doesnt give you the right to control a womans body. abortion is just a medical procedure. an unborn embryo is no more a person than an egg is a chicken. there is a line to be drawn on when abortions can and should be performed. im not talking about late term abortion where you have a fully developed fetus. there are lines to be drawn but you must draw your own. all i want is to protect the right to draw your own.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 -- Abortion is JUST a medical procedure??? Have you seen one performed? I have seen videos of abortions and it is more like an execution! I saw a 13 week "fetus" delivered and the doctor stabbed it in the back of the head with scissors and then sucked it's brains out. It had little body, head and tiny little hands and feet...hardly just a chicken egg. It even started kicking and tried to get away. It was tiny person, feeling the pain!!! That is what I call evil!

redmoos3 – Accuse and judge me all you want.
MyrnaMcGhie 1 year ago
@MyrnaMcGhie that is fantastic you have a strong conviction on this issue and i dont ask you to change your own opinions only to respect what the rest of the country has decided is appropriate. if everyone acted responsibly than nothing bad would ever happen. but unfortunately we dont live in a world like that. not all people are smart and understand when it is right to have children. the stripping of this freedom will eventually lead to the death of america.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 -- You have me laughing out loud -- you are very amusing. I don't have a desire to regulate anyone's body but my own and no wish to try to stop people from enjoying their mates sexually. Moreover, I didn't make this a religious issue. I know women who have had abortions and have realized that abortion isn't about a woman's body, it is about her baby's body. It is a decision to either kill or to allow her baby to live and be adopted out if she doesn't want the child.
MyrnaMcGhie 1 year ago
@MyrnaMcGhie and yes i have done my research i grew up pro life. my mother was on the board of a crisis pregnancy center that reached out to girls to encourage them to keep their unborn. if you cared for these people then that is where you would be. but you dont. its easier for you to comment ignorantly. abortions wont be forced on people. so if you want to change things why dont you get your hands dirty. religion has no place in politics.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@MyrnaMcGhie you dont want to do the work of truly loving another human being that is different for you. its just easier for you to condemn them and their life style than to ever try and understand it. how can you hold people who dont follow your faith accountable. they have a right in this country to live a life where they can choose and dont have to have the restraints of a failed religion holding them back from becoming productive members of society.

@Jsmizzle999 You can't compromise on murder.
RyanLane2020 1 year ago 2
@Jsmizzle999 It's not po-lfiers that won't compromise. It's a fact of life that won't compromise. The baby is a baby, a living being from the moment of conception. Killing a "2 months along" is no worse a thing than killing the person next to you.
Hirukaki 1 year ago 6
@Hirukaki Arguable. And if you think calling that piece of tissue inside a woman a baby is going to convince me you're very wrong. At 2 months a baby is like a parasite. It exists only to feed off of the host. It has no higher order of operation until it is born. Regardless of your feeling, abortion will always be legal. Roe V. Wade kid.
Jsmizzle999 1 year ago
@Jsmizzle999 Thing is, it's YOU calling the baby inside the woman a piece of tissue, not the other way around. People started calling the very young un-born babies "pieces of tissue" and "fetuses" to make a disconnect between the reality of the killing of the baby and the fantasy of the thought that a baby is only a parasite till it's born. I say again, a baby is a baby, no matter how small.
Hirukaki 1 year ago
@Hirukaki Nice one, Dr. Seuss. And the technical word for an unborn baby is a fetus, therefore, when you call an unborn baby a baby YOU are wrong. It IS a fetus. And no one is calling them "pieces of tissue" as that implies that they are not whole but rather tissue in and of itself does the job just fine.
Jsmizzle999 1 year ago
@Jsmizzle999 The word fetus comes from Latin meaning "offspring."

Attaboy Mr. Lankford!

But is convenience going to the the defining factor on this issue?
demontfortfan 1 year ago
@demontfortfan well that is where rep lankford is wrong. its as simple as that.
redmoos3 1 year ago
Pro-lifers and pro-choicers always seem to argue in circles, "its about life", "its about choice"... For 99% of pro-lifers, its not about controlling people or getting to tell people what to do, its about protecting what we believe is a LIFE (at the very, very least a developing life). There is a reason why 3d ultrasounds are used in so many pregnancy crisis centers as deterrents for abortions, because they show the mother LIFE and what she carries is a child not a choice.
undutchable79 1 year ago 9
stop forcing a small minded christian view on a nation of people who dont all agree with you. just because you choose to bind yourself to an ancient law does not mean the rest of us have to. you are no worse than the Taliban keeping women in fear by throwing acid in their faces. only the acid you use is shame and humiliation. so if you dont want one dont get one but dont be such a brood of vipers and white washed tombstones for that is what your christ would call you if he could see you now.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 To address you last statement first, Christ would call this man His brother. Christ is the one who said, "Allow the little children to come to Me." He wasn't saying to kill them before they're born so they could come to Him early! You need to wake up from your blind politically correct mindset and let a little truth shine in. People like you are so full of hate and bigotry for all things good and right that you can't stop yourself from letting that hate bleed out into your speech.
angler021 1 year ago 4
@angler021 you need to wake up from your 2000 year old slumber and see that a religion based on hate has no room in the future of the human race. if you dont like abortion dont have one. you have no right (man or god given) to control another persons body if there is no harm done to you. not to mention the positive benefits brought to society as a whole. i once agreed with you and most likely with more conviction until i chose logic and reason and not a blind devotion religion of hate.
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 I understand that no one has the right to control another person's body. But then, shouldn't a pregnant woman have no right to kill her unborn child? A human being that has no means of defending itself?
pinkipod30 1 year ago 2
@pinkipod30 because life doesnt start at conception
redmoos3 1 year ago
@redmoos3 "A religion based on hate"?? You really need to do some research on the Judeo-Christian worldview and quit reciting your mindless politically correct drivel. You're so wrapped up in this issue that you can't see past your own nose. You think everyone who is "religious" is evil. Don't confuse abuses in the name of "religion" as representative of Christianity. Do some homework. Its easy to put everyone in a box and label them. Abortion IS controlling another person's body - the baby's.
angler021 1 year ago
@redmoos3 It is YOU who speaks from a religion of hatred which is called Satanism. You seem to know nothing and speaking nothing but hatred in every single comment, what is sad is that you have no knowledge of God or Christianity because you have spoken lies and falsehoods. Those who side with evil things like taking a life of another human being no matter how little they are or what stage of life they are in, will be held accountable for every life taken through this act of MURDER!
punkin7733 10 months ago

Jsmizzle999 1 year ago
@Jsmizzle999 No, compromise with evil is evil. There should be no compromise from the absolute truth of the right to life for ALL. You are advocating nonsense.
The Founders pointed out that God given rights exist for EVERY person. It was compromise with devils among us who found it convenient to murder their children that created the worst injustice man has ever known, the infanticide of America.
There should be no compromise with insanity, stupidity, evil, foolishness or nonsense.

Please debate with kindness.
