Is it supposed to be Marilyn Monroe? It looks more like an idealised self-swagger portrait (which in this particular case could involve looking like Marilyn Monroe).
Although it doesn't look much like Marilyn, the costume is indeed from "Some Like it Hot".

Michael Brace does not discuss this painting. No... he should do his homework.
Boty's paintings and collages were about the difficulties of entering a man's world, especially in art.
Her work was overlooked by her male contemporaries which her spoke clearly of feminist issues at the time.
It is not just an aesthetic representation. Bah humbug.
