i just ordered one these but i have a question do need a certain tv service to use this like COX, because i have directv and was wondering if it will still work.

Iaplace98765, no. This is an over-the-air HDTV converter box, you do not need to subscribe to any tv service. This is FREE over the air High Definition TV. All you need is a cheap indoor powered antenna, $9.99 at stores like biglots. This is NOT your old television, this is better than cable High Definition Television. This is the Future. I bought an RCA DTA800, it has an excellent picture.
