Why was this left off 'The Scepter Records Story'? I believe that set had too many common and redundant records on it. This should have been on it, definately.
Lenny Miles is a relative of mine. Thanks for bringing this back. I think he only made a few songs. His mother is my father's older sister(deceased) and we live in Texas.
Pretty song. I have to give Lenny credit because he had the original, but I think the Shirelles come on a little too strong on their backup sometimes. I like the way the Chantels back up the Jive Five on that 1982 version on Ambient Sound. It has more of a doo wop sound. I also love the cover by Albert Stone on Reprise. Three great versions. You can't go wrong with any of the three.

Chuck Jackson did a nice version of this song, but this one is still my favorite.

According to what I've read, Lenny Miles died of bone marrow cancer shortly after he had his two hits.

The Shirelles and The Flamingos backed up Lenny Welch on my One Sincere at Decca.

Great Doowop. By the way is that The Shirelles singing back-up? If you could post "Invisible" that would be great.
Thanks.

Have you heard the b-side to this? 'Invisible'? To me, it should have been the a-side. It's essential early '60s, New York "Uptown Soul".

This little gem just missed Billboard's Top 40 on the Hot 100 charts, peaking at #41 in 1960. The singers backing Miles on this are The Shirelles.
