  • good lesson!

  • thanks for the help mate!!

  • You should show us how to ride the pitch using serato. Easier to imagine it.

  • You thats great! nice job Bro ! You're master ,your lessons are always a great help. Thx I'm from Poland and I watch ur video, Pozdrwienia z Polski ziomalu !

  • I've just started DJing and your theories/demonstrations have helped me immensely - thanks a lot and keep the videos coming!

  • Hi J! Just bought my 2decks and a mixer...keep it's practicing! Try to beatmatch...Thanks a lot for your help...you r the beast teacher!

  • mmmh this method i gues works with cdjs as well...isn't it?

  • it is;)

  • mannn u are seriously awesome at teaching this stuff! thanks yo

  • i have just brought my 1st pair of decks 4 xmas but im just learning how to beat match coz i normally use pc softwares but im finding it a bit hard i dont know if its because may be the records ive got cant be mixed and i wanted to know when i start of the beats should the pitch be in the middle on both records and how come theres no numbers on my pitch control sorry for asking so many questions and ya videos are GREAT there a BIG help
  • @cdshockwave - not all decks have numbers on the pitch control, if ur using vinyl then ur pitch should go from -6% to +6% as standard, some decks will go to 10% (ussually the cheap ones).

Also when u start ur mix the pitch should be at a speed that you are happy with, it can be in the middle if thats waht you want, its all down to preference, any tune u then mix in will be dependent on the speed of the one already playing.

  • brilient i think we all understud u well

  • wow. i was thinking there should be a mixer with something like this displaying soundwaves or something very smiler to this! before i had decks, i would use VirtualDJ and i would use the display that overlaps the soundwaves and i would match both BOOMS that way. if 1 is faster u can see it visually. helps alot. way easier then hearing it alone to me. so thought what if a mixer had it displayed like on virtualdj. dunno if theres such a mixer.

  • well thats the art of dj'ing isnt it :}

  • excellent work ellaskins!

  • great work man, just picked up my first sets of turntables and a crappy old mixer.. but it gets the job done... or it will when i learn to use it proper:P And watching ur vids helps me understand how to do it faster! =)

  • thanks, that's what it's all about!! peace Bro johnathan

  • Nice tutorials man =D keep it up!

  • wow, these videos, even though i already know the techniques, you have great ways of teaching and visual teaching, really makes me comprehend the whole "why" and not just the "how"

  • Great stuff.

  • man, it's ALL good. riding the pitch is actually cool thing

  • Good lesson. I was wondering why when I mixed it sounded in beat but then got out of beat quickly, and now I know. It makes perfect sense now.

  • Excellent lesson!!! :)

  • Thanks!!

  • Great lesson. I have to admit that I like it when you use your home made drawings. It's almost like a comedian and his props. Makes it kind of extra fun to watch. My fav one so far was the Superstar DJ drawings :D

  • Why should learning be boring, that's what it's all about , it should be fun!! thanks!

  • The riding the pitch series are my favorite videos. With or without turntables, your lessons are always a great help. Another great lesson. Thanks Johnathan

  • thanks dude!

  • I will have to learn to use the pitch control to bring them back in beat instead of touching the vinyl and speeding it up. Some vinyl's need only a little push to bring them back in, but some are very loose so if you do the same with that one it will either increase a lot more than expected or a lot less.

    Thanks for you video ellaskins!

Starting to use pitch control more often from now on.

  • This is true, but even if you got them perfectly beatmatched, you can mix some songs that are quite complex, and change their own tempo arround the track.

Like Tiesto's Dance For Life (I'm not trying to make publicity). This song has a tempo that changes on it's way and very often it can get offbeat. So like Jonathan said, keep your ears open. :)
