In this poem he says, "Tomorrow, I'll be at the table When company comes." On all of my books it says, "Tomorrow, I'll sit at the table When company comes."
i will not forget that class . it was an honore when i learned this poem and The Harlem Renaissance and Longston`s life . It was my favorite class EVER and the greatest Renaissance EVER

like the slide but sorry the poem doesnt say "besides they'll see how beautiful we are" its "besides they'll see how beautiful i am" other then that great
I actually noticed the same thing when I was making the slides. When Langston used the word "we" when reading his poem aloud, I decided to write it the same way. He does use the word "I" in all other parts of the poem, and your probably right that the official poem uses "I"
Very soft spoken and very articulate is my impressions of Mr.Hughes. This is a very good poem about Having proud and not being ashamed of how you are. I like!
I imagined his voice to be different

I read this poem when I was only a little girl. I had no idea what it meant- I took it literally.
Mr Hughes- for all there is still racial injustice in this world- I hope you can see how true your words became

Does he say, "Now, WITH almost a hundred years of freedom..."
or, "Now, SINCE almost a hundred years of freedom..."?

I just listened and he said "since"

Beautiful. You know I can't help but hear a similarity between Kerouac and Hughes.

It was not a Renaissance, but a naissance, a birth, rather than a rebirth. African culture had existed, but not African-American culture.

yu mean african america existed

No, I mean African culture, as in culture from Africa. The slaves carried that with them but had not developed their own culture.
