  • I imagined his voice to be different

  • Rather, as Malcolm X realized, the American nightmare.

  • 3 people are racist >:(

  • Morgan Freeman mastered his voice!

  • Very nice Video, please checkout my Langston Hughes video too...

  • I got here from Avan Jogia's Tumblr. :)

  • In this poem he says, "Tomorrow, I'll be at the table When company comes." On all of my books it says, "Tomorrow, I'll sit at the table When company comes."

  • I read this poem when I was only a little girl. I had no idea what it meant- I took it literally.

Mr Hughes- for all there is still racial injustice in this world- I hope you can see how true your words became

  • Does he say, "Now, WITH almost a hundred years of freedom..."

or, "Now, SINCE almost a hundred years of freedom..."?

  • I just listened and he said "since"

  • I love this poem, this video, and last but not least, the works of Langston Hughes.

  • His voice is so calm and cool....

  • Beautiful. You know I can't help but hear a similarity between Kerouac and Hughes.

  • i will not forget that class . it was an honore when i learned this poem and The Harlem Renaissance and Longston`s life . It was my favorite class EVER and the greatest Renaissance EVER

  • It was not a Renaissance, but a naissance, a birth, rather than a rebirth. African culture had existed, but not African-American culture.

  • yu mean african america existed

    get it right

  • No, I mean African culture, as in culture from Africa. The slaves carried that with them but had not developed their own culture.

  • i have a tattoo on my back of one of his sayings its.. " Hold fast to drems for if dreams die life is like a broken winged bird that cannot fly" its my e

  • wow...i hope with my poetry i will become as great and famous as him someday!

  • say something worth being said and you will!

  • to be half the poet that langston is would make you a poetic genius.

  • like the slide but sorry the poem doesnt say "besides they'll see how beautiful we are" its "besides they'll see how beautiful i am" other then that great

  • I actually noticed the same thing when I was making the slides. When Langston used the word "we" when reading his poem aloud, I decided to write it the same way. He does use the word "I" in all other parts of the poem, and your probably right that the official poem uses "I"

  • Wonderful!

  • He is one of my favorites!

  • I found some smart people on Youtube

(comments below are smarter than most comments)

  • He is the best 2 shoes. He was a pure genius.

  • too think my child in kg has learned this poem....i agree CWM368

  • a great american and a great americanpoet.

  • Very soft spoken and very articulate is my impressions of Mr.Hughes. This is a very good poem about Having proud and not being ashamed of how you are. I like!

  • Langston Hughes is the best!
