I smile during every video. BEST set of videos on YouTube ever! I LOOOOOOVE hip hop music, the funk and all the music that is tied into the hip hip culture. Sometimes I listen to classic rock songs and think they'd sound SOOO good sampled, and you've shown some of these bands...i.e. Steely Dan on one of the earlier videos.
hey i nthink we watched all ur videos fromt toronto when will u put out more ? do u produce ur own music? we love u in to canada great work music is universal...
the 1st part of that 1st novelty song was used in warren g regulators.that deligation song was sampled for the umc's blue cheese song and total's kissing u remix.
OMG, I think I just had an accident in my pants with all this great stuff you've been playing. Wikka Wrap? Are you kidding me? I used to listen to that for 3 months straight every morning before I dragged my ass to school and when I got back when I was 13. That was 30 years ago! Songs like that made me want to become a DJ!
Thank you for all the great stuff.
I just discovered your channel and watched the first 13 in one sitting. Can't wait to get to the rest.
The Evasions didn't "rip off" or even sample Jamaica Funk and Good Times as such. They actually re-recorded it, playing the instruments and singing themselves. Unlike talentless fucks like Kanye West and their ilk who just steal shit, and then spew their hate filled raps over it.
I think that if you are a producer, you need to really love music from many different times. I never even knew there were funk bands from Palm Beach! But back to my point. By listening to music and loving it, you become a better producer even if you never ever sample one record, you will be infected with the funk. The way the beats are layed will come out in your tracks. Don't just use samples as a crutch, but learn to love what you sample, and you will add a demension to your style...

Okay funktuall it's been 13 episodes now and you haven't done any George Clinton, Rick James, Cameo, Queen, Kraftwerk, Draft punk, Stevie Wonder and so on. I do like what you're doing though. Once you figured out there were gonna be more episodes You needed to throw George Clinton in there earlier because James Brown and the JPs were kinda easy ones if you were trying to stay away from the easy ones.
