  • As an animator myself I was impressed by the bullriding part.

  • looks like the brahma bull kicked tony's candy ass.

  • wow i never knew tony was black

  • RIP thurl ravenscroft

  • Blaming a character invented in 1952 for an obesity problem that took off 25 years later? Anybody remember AHA and FDA telling us we need more low fat "heart healthy" carbs?

2,000,000 years of humans, but only 10,000 of agriculture. Our minds are modern, but our bodies are still built for hunting and gathering. That means high-fiber veggies, nuts, some fruit, and lots of high-fat meat. (Remember they used everything but the squeal!) Look up the fat content of organ meat and tell me I'm wrong.

  • And it starts when you are a kid. Tony the Tiger is very cute and funny: that is why they use him to sell the stuff to kids. We have to look seriously at this issue. It is not funny anymore. Especially when it involves protecting our kids from predatory corporate marketing schemes designed to rake in the big bucks for them while we get duped.

  • @usaforklift1 take some fuckin responsibility for your own bad decisions, its not the cartoon that made you unhealthy its you.

  • Sorry Tony. I actually enjoyed seeing these again. Brings back great memories of when I was a kid. I recently have been trying to eat better and have started reading the labels more carefully. I don't mind that companies sell candy. If it says "candy" then I can choose to eat it or not. But when it says, "part of a healthy diet" or "low in fat" when it is essentially candy, I think it is deceptive. Obviously lots of us have been fooled. Just look at the epidemic of obesity in this county.

  • @usaforklift1 u right lol

  • They are Grrrreat all right! 38% sugar, if you like candy for breakfast. Wake up late? Have a Coke (and a cigarette of two) for breakfast, same amount of sugar. That's all you really need. Thanks Kellogg's for all those Grrrreat years of diabetes, obesity, stroke and heart attacks. You really are Grrrreat!!!

  • @usaforklift1 your a twat

  • My Tony, how you've changed

  • Frosted Flakes makes your yelling echo whether you're in an enclosed area or not.

  • @sdhubbard

There must have been a solid rock face just off camera.

  • I like it how in these early commercials every time tony said "grrrreat!" there's an echo effect, I wish they still did that in the current commercials.

  • Wow, commercials were very stupid back then.

  • @PluralOfEverything

Yeah, not like today's super-awesome, smart commercials.

  • This is damn exploitable. Also notice how the floor moves, but Tony Jr. doesn't at 0:04

  • Oh heck!! I remember this... you're making me feel O~L~D~

  • HOLY SHIT, tony had a son

  • 0:24 is where it's at.

  • Thurl Arthur Ravenscroft was the voice of "Tony The TIger". He also sang "You're A Mean One,Mr. Grinch" from "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". Disneys "Haunted Mansion ride,he was one of the statue heads singing "Grin Grinning Ghosts, and also voiced many Disney movies.

  • Tony flunked Sex Ed. Who ever heard of a Mama Bull? LOL.

  • Dallas McKennon voiced Tony?! That's surprising.

  • People who are surprised at the amount of sugar in these cereals have to remember that this was back when kids were supposed to drink 3 glasses of milk a day and brush their teeth after every meal.

  • lol

  • It was here that Tony Jr. got ran over and died.

  • Brahma Bull

  • @Koolkitties .....Tony Jr. now resides with Chuck Cunningham from Happy Days! :'(

  • I think Mel Blanc did the bull's voice.

  • @Johnffrey87 Hal Smith is Tony Jr.

  • Hahaha nowadays moms wouldn't buy that stuff because it says it has a sugar coating. =)

  • This first aired in 1960; note Quick Draw McGraw's face on the box of "Sugar Smacks" in the "Snack Pak" assortment at the end; that's the year his face became associated with that cereal, as Kellogg's sponsored his weekly cartoon show in syndication...

  • Mama bull = Cow. Tony = tossed around on bull = funny. :D

  • There fooooooood!!!!

  • Funny stuff!!

  • Dallas McKenon was the original voice in 1952.Thurl Ravenscroft took over shotrly for the next 5 decades.I think he passed away in 2005!
