  • where did you get that big strip of vlecro i cant find any that big any help?

  • do you think you could talk about how the whole thing is powered, that's the only thing i'm not really sure about. A tutorial for that would be awesome

  • economical and usfull,, gog job

  • I use Voodoo labs pedal power plus :)

  • Oh ok, I perform a lot, about twice a week. I wanted to ask you whether you ever get hum from your pedal board, I get a tiny bit and I think it might be my power supply ?

  • @JRBrockmusic More than likely it is your powersupply what are you using? I find that an isolated, filtered, and regulated power supply is the best. Thats why I use the Voodoo labs pedal power II

  • My pedalboards pretty similar to that. How often do you perform live ?

  • @Musicationific Once to twice a month for church. I play lead guitar for my church. We have so many musicians that we rotate, so I dont play every week.

  • I have a similar rig to that :)

  • Dude nice rig !!

  • @JRBrockmusic Hey thanks man, yeah Im still using this pedal board, but the only pedals that remain are the volume pedal, delay and tuner. All the others Ive replaced by building my own.

  • nice actually this can go into mass production (only the pedal board)

  • @Piotrshepard It could but it would make sense for people to make there own.....I could build them....but it would seem that most people that are watching clips of boards are doing so because they want to build there own. Which is cool....I built mine because I couldnt afford to buy the size board that I wanted which would fit my voodoo labs underneath. Since making this video Ive built one other for a buddy of mine.

  • @oxdpt99 ok dude i was just saying that it's good...

  • @Piotrshepard dude I didnt take offense to your comment....its all good, I was just giving that response, because I initially was going to try to build these for people, but it seems theres been no demand for it. Most people want to take a crack at it themselves....which is totally cool.

  • @oxdpt99 ok, ok it's cool and yes u'r right people actually like to make their own pedal boards for their purposes so...

  • it's maybe a stupid question but put you also velcro on the pedal or do you only put velcro on the board? thanks for the idea!!! and sorry for my bad english

  • @trent4111 I'm not the guy in the video but you're going to want to put velcro on the bottom of your pedals as well. If you put the fuzzy loop stuff on the board of course you'll want to put the hooky stuff on the bottom of your pedals or the other way around..

  • @trent4111 You put velcro on both sides. The hook goes on the pedal....and the soft carpet part goes on the board

  • where did u get the velcro? like i went to the dollar store and they only had these small pieces of velcro ...

  • @saoiGTR Yo! Home Depot industrial strength velcro. It comes in a 15 foot package I believe which is more than enough for a board of my size or even bigger.

  • @saoiGTR Wall Mart has basically the same thing for less than half of what you'll pay at the depot

  • @guitarran Good advise dude.....If it is the industrial strength.....I may have to go check that out.

  • PEDALBOOTS are a really professional solution to fix your pedals on your pedalboard. If you search for a velcro - alternative, you can easily find them on the internet for almost every common effect.

  • Hey mate, how do you like the Signa Drive?

    Thankful for a fast answer...

    Thanks!:)

  • @DavidPercan Buy it! You will love it. Super useful and flexible overdrive. I build my own pedals now, but that was a great pedal.

  • I see, it's a shame you sold it.

    Well, thank you! :)

  • what are the blue and purple pedals???

  • Very tidy dude - nice job.

  • Hey! How big is the pedal board? and how long is the caples between the pedals? :)

  • @victor1997ification The pedal board is 26X18. The cables in between the pedals are either 6 or 8 inches depending on how long of a run, I need to make. I recently got into building my own pedals, so this board has changed quite abit. Its always good to have patch cables of various lengths, so that as your pedals increase in number or size, you will be able to route to them accordingly.

  • @oxdpt99 Sounds like it's a pretty good pedalboard! But do you think that i can have 3 boss pedals, one polytune, and one wah crybaby, and ofc an Big John to power the pedals, on a pedalboard whitch is 40 x 60?

  • @victor1997ification you could have your setup x10 and still be able to fit it on a 40x60 board! that's ridiculously big. you might want to try something smaller, like 20-30x12

  • @41224jason Haha, yeah. but i want all the pedals beside each other, so. :)

  • Is it stupid to let the pedals run on batteries?

  • @1996Prashant Its not stupid, but I dont think its economical. I always hated having to change batteries, and what if one of the batteries dies, while gigging? Filtered, regulated power is the way to go, and thats why I use the Voodoo Labs Pedal power 2.

  • @oxdpt99 ok then i ll just buy daisy chains

  • i use a multi effects pedal, but i'm thinking about switching to individula pedals, what i dnt get is how you work out which order to connect them up in :P and nice board, its simple but effective

  • @Emogal1991 Guitar-Volume pedal-tuner-compressor-Wah-OD-Fuzz-Distortion-Chorus-Phaser-Tremolo-Delay-Reverb-Amp

Thats usually how I roll, if Im putting all of my effects into the front end of a clean amp.

  • thanks for the info bro... i got some ideas..

  • where did you get those wide velcro pads?

  • @RichieGrapaChannel sorry for the late reply.....Home Depot industrial strength velcro wide strips. It comes in a 15 foot roll I beilieve.

  • excellent! my pedals, and they're starting to pile up, are all over the floor. i wish more people would share they're secrets!

  • so thats basically it eh? Well not bad. I like the light. Nice touch. I'm gonna have steel that idea off ya.

  • @jaqjaques Go for it man....thats really the point of the video.....see if you like what I did....take what you like and then make it your own.

  • Oh ok i get what you are saying bro!! Ill go for the Goerge L's cables.. Thanks for the info bro!!

  • Very creative bro!! Thats what we call talent.. Congrats!! I was wondering whats the brand of the color cables that you are using for the pedals?

  • @josenainperez Hey man thanks! Yeah so the color cables are from a buddy of mine and Im not sure about the manufacture, but I can definitely say they are cheesy at best. You would be better suited with George L's cables or something higher quality as I have had issues with intermitent shorts and noise with these lower end cables. you can also make your own cables for pretty cheap using Neutrik 90 degree angles and ProCo wire. A company known as Markertek has these components and wire for cheap

  • Just wondering about the voodoo lab. Not much line noise created by I'm told. How you do feel about it?

  • @boiledrootbeer I've had the voodoo labs pedal power II for about 6 years now and have had absolutely no problems with anything Ive plugged into it. It gives me clean consistent power, without any line noise that I have noticed. There are other options out there, but having tried the gator power supply and having used the boss TU-2 with power daisy chain, I can safely say there is absolutely no comparison.

  • @oxdpt99 Cool, thanks for the reply.

  • this is one of the cooler looking pedals ive seen so far....nicely done!

  • @jamesplasencia Hey thanks man. I wanted this pedalboard to be as functional as possible but also look cool in the process. Glad you like it.

  • Nicely done! I really like how simple yet really usefull it is and its not riddled with hundreds of pedals. Great design.

  • @kfcboogie Thanks man, actually Im in the process of building a few pedals right now, and have sold off the Signadrive, Plexi, and Trem. I am going to build a 4 circuit Fuzz/Overdrive box in one enclosure and am hoping that the board will be big enough to accomodate it. I am sure it will be, but the lesson here is always when making a pedalboard, always make it a bit bigger than what you currently need.

  • Signa Drive and Purple Plexi 800...NICE!!!

  • @The1970sInfatuate Ive been building my own effect pedals and have recently sold the signa drive and the Purple Plexi in favor of a Lovepedal eternity clone and a Menatone King of the Britains clone that I recently made. click on my channel and you will see a clip for KOTB demo. I am also selling these with full graphics and clear coat....PM and I will send you some pix if interested. Thanks man

  • so you basically got a decent size of plywood, attached some "legs" to it and then attached your pedals? I'm looking for a new board but I'm really interested in making myself another one (bigger & stronger than the 1st one I built). What steps did you take when building this I guess is my question and what do you do about a case for it?

  • @morganchavis Basically that is it. However there is an art to making something come out nice vs. being a piece of crap. The legs are made of 2X3 and were cut on a mitre saw to 15 degrees. The ones in the front are cut just to angle and the ones in the back were at 2-3 inches (I don't remember specifically). Use industrial grade velcro it pays (can get at home depot). That is basically it, take your time and measure many times with your cuts, or it will come out like crap.

  • @oxdpt99 Thanks man. This is something that I am looking forward to spending a lot of time on. I want it to be perfect.

  • very nice, i can't wait for my collection to grow a little more to get started on mine

  • Glad you like it. The angle of the board is really key in that it is very functional and allows for easier more precise switching.

  • @oxdpt99

I figure I'm gonna go with a 2 tier style rather than an angled board

    :)

I'll definitely document the build (which might not be for quite some time) and I'll post it as a video response!

would you happen to know about how much a board of plexiglass with a suitable thickness would cost me? I'm an LED nut and it'd make for great visibility on stage.

  • Wow, great idea with the plexi! I think the look would be great, but it would need to be 1/2 inch thick which would run atleast $50-80 for a standard size sheet. Any less and there may be too much flex in the board. But thinking outloud if you did not angle the board the flex factor would be less important. Also you need to think about what material you would use to frame the second tier. My guess would be wood spray painted black? God Bless and let me know how it turns out.

  • @oxdpt99

Which thinner thicknesses are available? The board will be level rather than angled as the second tier would allow for easy access to the second row of pedals and I was thinking that maybe the flex of thinner plexiglass wouldn't be an issue if I put little support beams/dividers under it. Wood spray painted black is definitely what I'm looking to go with. I already have some really smooth spare wood laying around. I'll also make it more rugged with metal edges/corners.

    :)

  • Hey what about doubling up on a thinner piece of plexi. Again a standard size sheet should be enough for 2 layers. Also how are you gonna do corners? I was thinking about doing my entire perimeter edges with metal strapping. Whats your take?

  • Nice board, I like the feet and the type of surge protector you have. One recommendation is to lighten it up you can get rid of that power brick for the lamp by using a 120V bulb (not a lightbulb). Check out RadioShack for em.

  • Would I then hardwire it to a standard plug into the surge protector? How much brighter would it be than a 6V bulb? Don't want to go blind with a spot light shining in my face either lol. Thanks for the feedback.

  • hi man, great board! im about to finish up mine tommorow, but i have a question.

how do you transport your board to gigs and such? i cant find a gig bag or anything that it fits in, i dont want my pedals to get damaged in transport.

  • Thats a great question, that I have yet to answer myself. I play in a church band so its not like I am traveling that far with it or throwing it in a van filled with band equipment. I think Gator makes some generic cases that may fit your needs. Also I used to use a large rolling suitcase and for the size I made my old board it fit perfectly. The new board would probably not fit though. I hope this helps and let me know when you find a solution!

  • thanks for the quick reply!!

ive been unable to find any cases that would fit my pedal board (that are cheap enough, im building my board to save money, so im not gonna by a case that costs as much as a pedal train jr/with case haha)

ill keep looking, though i fear ill end up having to try to build a case for it. it will most likely be just a top that attaches with some type of latch.

    thanks again and god bless

  • I would definately look into a rolling suitcase deal then. Your right if you build it yourself you dont want to spend crazy money on a case. I like your idea of building a top over the pedal board with a latch. I would just make sure that there is foam under the top to protect the pedals.

  • i think im just going to make the case for it. im not really sure if it needs foam, because the pedals shouldnt be moving off of the board anyway, however i am going to put foam in it.

we just put some new shevles and things in out bathroom, so im taking the wooden shelves off of the old one and using that for the board. one shelve is the perfect size for the board, another shelves (obviously) is the perfect size for the top.

  • Very nice! To supply three pedals with power, could I just use a socket extender (the lobg white things which turn 1 socket into 3) to power them?

  • you could but most players start out thinking I'm only going to use 3 pedals and then all of a sudden you are going to want 5 or 6. I would probably go with a power strip at first and then as you progress you could get a one spot daisy chain or a voodoo labs pedal power. Also if you are going to make your own board make it bigger than you think. Real estate on a board goes pretty quickly.

  • I see what you mean, but... regualr stomboxes are 9v right? I think a line 6 JM4 might be more than that, which could create a problem...

  • The voodoo labs pedal power and the one spot, I believe both have special voltage connectors for line 6 pedals. I know this to be true about the pedal power because I ran a DL4 for a long time off of it. The pedal power can also supply 12 to 18 volts as well. If you want to go cheaper at first then use pedal adapters for each pedal into a power strip or power squid will do.

  • very nice, very neat, great pedals! do you build these for other people or just yourself?

  • I built this board for myself and can say that it performs great functionally and looks awesome on stage. I would be open to building for other guitarists if there is interest. Thanks for the feedback!
