what if i take my right foot put all my weight(heavy)and step on your left foot/toes/lead foot, and pushed you back from you shoulders, you ankle snapping in about 100 peices is what would happen,i am no jui jit sui master by any means..but watch that lead foot.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has no striking, and because of that there isn't any concern that you might get punched in the face, so your stance doesn't keep your hands in a place where your head can easily be protected.
So aside from the basics that apply to all stances, they don't have anything in common.
@DanJos89 just like in boxing, it's not always left foot foward. southpaw is where you right foot is foward and your stance is opposite (right hand foward, left hand a little bit back, left foot back)
Hi ! Thank you for this video ; ) i need some help : on september i'm going to start Jujitsu in a Dojo, but before i will do this , i want learn some basics on my own , so what video i must watch?? Thank you ;)
Here's what I do because people think they can take me down cuz I'm small i know it is not correct stuff but I wraparound the stomach or neck with my arm and not kick but little tough nudge on their leg or the back of their knee. I never punch or kick but if I do Ielbow them in the back RARELY..

Nitpicking, but I don't think I would recommend going into a self-defense situation with clenched fists. Maybe better to have your hands up and in front of you, not unlike what you might see in Judo or Aikido. This gives you options for catching fists or grab and takedown. Also, the difference in psychological response from an attacker to someone with raised open hands as opposed to raised clenched fists is significant.
@bwith01 and it also give the appearance that you are also not the aggressor in the situation. also be verbal meaning yelling i dont want no trouble or leave me alone. shout these because as long as you are not and not viewed as the aggressor you will have witnesses and you will be in the right instead of the wrong. i dont promote fighting, but when its self defense i say do what you gotta do to survive the attack and then leave when it is over. remember fight or flight!!!

It's a little shitty; if your opponent is a big, muscular or even fat guy and he is rushing against you like that, you are blown away if you try to match his force with your force, because his is greater.
You need to practice in real life to be good, especially against a fully resisting opponent.
But I personally like to watch techniques at the internet, and then I try them at my bjj class.
Most instructors won't have time to explain every single technique, you need to learn them from other fighters, or from videos if you want to learn them quickly.
When I started bjj i already knew lots of things like the armbar, the kimura, the triangle, and it surely helped me.
I have a deep wide stance...and elbows in hands out to reach hands that come in for hooks. This is a very generic stance I child should know. Why did they even make this video
a push from the back, shift your leg to front stance, push either from left to right horse riding stance and from the front simply shift to back stance by giving 75% of your weight on the rear leg. basic is the foundation of all techniques.
It is effective in the right situation, doubting that's a street fight, but if you break the guy's arm or dislocate a joint, I doubt he'll be 'as' willing to fight you.
True. Learning from the internet isn't nearly as effective as learning from a trainer or gym, but you make it sound like it's not even worth it. Although, the only way to make learning online practical is by actually practicing what you see. For instance, you can learn a submission on the internet, but it doesn't do you any good unless you have someone willing to let you try it out on them.

i really like dhis video of urs. becaure it is all about; 'Jiu Jitsu'! which is an tradical-style from japen.. or its koran? ;( i just don't know it, BUT! in the land of japen... there's is an school for people who he/she is instreaid in this!! u know what i'm talking about? :) besides Judo or jiu jitsu is just an.... judo and jujutsu are both japanese. it was brought to brazil and has evolved into a groundfighting art almost exclusively. there are standup techniques too, but not many. that is the basic difference between jujutsu, and brazilian jiujitsu.
But, what you might notice if you're competing is that if people feel that you are a good thrower and likes standing up. They often jump guard or does something like grabbing your sleeve and just lay them selves down on their back.
Since this not coincided a passive action in BJJ this is a perfectly fine tactic, however i find it very boring to be honest. But that's probably because I'm sort of good at throwing and likes to do it :P
Just because you're right handed doesn't mean that you HAVE to have a certain stance. Generally speaking though, since a right handed person would want to have their left foot and left hand forward. That way, you could use your left hand for jabs since they don't require as much power, and your right hand for power punches. But again, its all preference. I'm right handed and I skate the way a left handed person usually skates.
We can see that Brazilian Jujitsu is great against one individual opponent in a cage, but unfortunately we do not have that option just to defense ourselves against one attacker at all times. Show us how Brazilian Jujitsu stand against 2 or 3 fighters from other MMA.
In your lifetime, how many times have you been attacked by someone? I've never been attacked by anyone, much less by 2 or 3 people. So what's your point?
Then sorry about your luck but you aren't gonna learn Jiu-Jitsu.
But BJJ is spreading and is reaching many countries now so hopefully you'll get a good guy there soon. Also you could always travel and train and be the first to bring BJJ to El Salvador.
Don't try to learn on your own or through videos that's a very bad idea. Just be patient and if you want to learn BJJ enough find away to make it happen
Personally, I don't think it is the most effective martial art either. Although, it's not a bunch of "useless shit from ton of differnt martial arts all combined." It does have its benefits. Some of the moves you learn in aikido are good for pre-emptive strikes, but if you're already engaged in a fight with someone else, I doubt you'll be able to pull anything off unless you're an EXPERT and have been in countless street fights.
Disregard mooki69's comment. In theory, you could learn Jiujitsu on the internet. You won't get nearly the same amount of experience as someone who trains at a gym, but you could get pretty good at the basics. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN THOUGH is to find someone roll with, if you aren't practicing the moves on someone then everything you watch is completely useless. There are free ways to do this, but if you willing to pay the money, you can go to the link I just posted on your profile.

brazilian jiujitsu is only for brazilians and normal jiujitsu is for the rest of the world....believe it or not if a non brazilian is caught doing brazilian jiu jitsu they can get the death sentence
I am a Greek living in the USA practicing under the Gracie name of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.. I compete under "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu" The difference is "Jiu Jitsu originated in japan and that it relied on momentum and strength.. THanks to Helio Gracie, BJJ is more focused on leverage and agility. Faster thinking and skillful movement make the better opponent
Japanese Jiujitsu uses just as mutch leverage. They just do more wrist manipulation and the majority of the techniques are from a standing position. They also use SOME strikes to vulnerable areas and throws. BJJ is more concerned with ground techniques that ALSO use leverage. BJJ is superior in MMA.

It takes very little strength to throw a larger opponent using judo techniques. Judo also has ground techniques and submissions for after the throw. Basically, judo has more throws.
well bj pen got his black belt in 3 and a half years as well did loyd irvin jr. brandon vera got his brown belt in 3 years and ryan hall is going up the ranks extremely quickly as well. there is no set point. I may take me five years to get to blue but oh well
Well look at them both, after 3 years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu BJ penn took the world championship in California , right after he got his black belt. Like I said, you EARN the belts. It took Royce 10 years, BJ Penn 3 , both earned their belts, and BJ Penn proved that he earned his belt by winning. What I am mostly saying is that, for sure by 3 years at most in all these americanized karates you will have your black belt, traditional is different. BJJ differs according to skill.
As do most arts.. my aikido/jujitsu instructor does not have a set day to test. He tells you to test when he feels you are ready.. you may earn a black belt in 3 years, but you might have a lower ranking classmate who can defend himself better than you. And don't forget, BJ Penn is the only person who's ever submitted TWO Gracie's.
Precisely.. if I trained for a year, day in and day out like it was my job.. I could attain a black belt.. but the fluid motion and instinct on the street won't come from doing technique. Applying the technique in class, with attackers throwing REAL punches at you is how you learn.. some people say aikido takes a while to become effective.. and I agree to an extent.. but I've been training for a month and I could already use some of what I've learned, on top of my street fighting skills.
It may take you five years to get to your second belt or get your blue in six... the school I study Jujitsu at is REALLY up on earning belts as opposed to getting them given out with the morning cornflakes.
Which is why I am staying with the class I'm at now and left my previous TKD class as it was just a belt factory...
freakboy... He never said close your eyes, and when your standing you do want to keep your chin down. If you dont its makes you more vonurable. Plus he dosent really have to bend his knees. He wants to be taken down. If a wrestler were to take him down, the wrestler would be making a mistake
yeah you're right. like when i wrestle and want to be taken down, or get the other person to "try" to take me down, i'd like not be in my full stance all low and everything and then theyd shoot, and i sprawl, crossface etc.
I've seen that move before in a Gracie fight. It doesn't have any power against a guy trying to grapple you, which may be why judo-chops used to be more popular than elbows in jiu-jitsu circles.
In addition, if you're not in a good stance against a tackle, you'll get knocked down before you can pull off any effective strikes.
i would react as soon as he tried to grab me, and i break boards every day with my elbows, they do have power. ever wonder why elbows are pretty much banned outside of pure muay thai in thailand? thats why, they have too much power.
"Judo chops" were included in very old school Kodokan Judo(A.K.A. Kano Jiu-Jitsu), which is very different form Olympic Judo and hard to find in America.
They were used just like hammer fist strikes in MMA groundwork, except the open hand is more convenient for hitting the neck and the base of the skull.
"Combatives" people call it an ax-hand strike now, because the mental image people get from "judo chop" is pretty lame.
though it may be theoretically right, let us define this sports as what they are and have been for the past 50 years, and how it is represented on the larger scale.
actually he does bend his knees, but he just doesnt bring it up. i would purposely not stand like that, and let the guy charge at me, so when i fall all bring him with me and go into guard position, itll be so much easier.
what if i take my right foot put all my weight(heavy)and step on your left foot/toes/lead foot, and pushed you back from you shoulders, you ankle snapping in about 100 peices is what would happen,i am no jui jit sui master by any means..but watch that lead foot.

Applying the technique in class, with attackers throwing REAL punches at you is how you learn.. some people say aikido takes a while to become effective.. and I agree to an extent.. but I've been training for a month and I could already use some of what I've learned, on top of my street fighting skills.

Yes, that's true of most good JJ schools...
Some people 'get it' quicker than others.
It may take you five years to get to your second belt or get your blue in six... the school I study Jujitsu at is REALLY up on earning belts as opposed to getting them given out with the morning cornflakes.
Which is why I am staying with the class I'm at now and left my previous TKD class as it was just a belt factory...

yea. i agree. even my tkd school is more like pay them to get your black. i think thats why tkd lost so much respect.

freakboy... He never said close your eyes, and when your standing you do want to keep your chin down. If you dont its makes you more vonurable. Plus he dosent really have to bend his knees. He wants to be taken down. If a wrestler were to take him down, the wrestler would be making a mistake
Plopjon1990 4 years ago
yeah you're right. like when i wrestle and want to be taken down, or get the other person to "try" to take me down, i'd like not be in my full stance all low and everything and then theyd shoot, and i sprawl, crossface etc.

dude, in a real fight, i would just bring my elbow to the back of that guys neck if he tried that
bagman234 4 years ago
I've seen that move before in a Gracie fight. It doesn't have any power against a guy trying to grapple you, which may be why judo-chops used to be more popular than elbows in jiu-jitsu circles.
In addition, if you're not in a good stance against a tackle, you'll get knocked down before you can pull off any effective strikes.

i would react as soon as he tried to grab me, and i break boards every day with my elbows, they do have power. ever wonder why elbows are pretty much banned outside of pure muay thai in thailand? thats why, they have too much power.

Elbows are not banend out side of Muay thai. there used in MMA

There is no such thing as a judo chop idiot. judo is a martial art consisting solely on throws

"There is no such thing as a judo chop idiot."
Not true.
You only know the Olympic sport Judo.
Real Judo has throws, locks, chokes, and ne-waza.
Old fashioned Judo also included Atemi Waza(striking techniques).
invictus14 3 years ago
The olympic judo also have locks, chokes, etc...
but I never heard of any real "judo chops"...
that's just for jokes :D
unholyjapa 3 years ago
"Judo chops" were included in very old school Kodokan Judo(A.K.A. Kano Jiu-Jitsu), which is very different form Olympic Judo and hard to find in America.
They were used just like hammer fist strikes in MMA groundwork, except the open hand is more convenient for hitting the neck and the base of the skull.
"Combatives" people call it an ax-hand strike now, because the mental image people get from "judo chop" is pretty lame.

though it may be theoretically right, let us define this sports as what they are and have been for the past 50 years, and how it is represented on the larger scale.
all been said before!

he forgot to bend his knees
betta144 4 years ago
actually he does bend his knees, but he just doesnt bring it up. i would purposely not stand like that, and let the guy charge at me, so when i fall all bring him with me and go into guard position, itll be so much easier.
