The 1999 VT Commodore was the last Holden to have a Holden V8 engine.

"Chevrolet" do not own Holden. Holden is a subsidiary of General Motors. GM also own Chevrolet.

Holden merged with GM in 1933.

Holden have manufactured engines for the last 60 years. Every 6 cyl Holden from 1948 to 1986 had an engine that was manufactured in Australia by Holden.

The Alloytec V6 in VZ and VE Commodores is also made by Holden.

MrFiveLeeeta has it exactly right. Chevy, Pontiac and Holden are all owned by GM (Obviously no Pontiac anymore). The original idea for for the GTO came from the Holden Monaro. Pontiac and Chevy just put their badges on it. The car itself is 100% Australian, NOT American.

The Monaro was called the GTO by HSV for its special edition V2 vehicles that only came in grey or red. in 06 they made a very special V2R which came with a 427CU In. 7.0L LS7 from the 05-present Z06.

There has never been a HSV powered by a "Chevy" engine.

The last Holden to have a Chevrolet engine was the 1974 HQ. The last Small Block engine built by Chevrolet was made in 2004.

The LS series engines used by Holden/HSV are GM engines. They are not manufactured by Chevrolet.
